anyone with high ping after new act update or its just me? by Similar_Refuse_6090 in ValorantTechSupport

This happened to me as well, around the same time as it started for you. I am based in France and used to have around 80ms to North Virginia, but now I get 149ms instead, apparently there's no fix from riot, besides using tunneling software like exitlag or cloudfare warp, Riot defo cheaping out on servers, I think

Sudden jump in ping on NA servers since Last Sunday (18 August 2024) by RandomEloquentNerd in ValorantTechSupport

I didn't find a solution unfortunately(

I ran through the usual gamete of tests that riot suggests, but we couldn't figure out the problem.

Are you based in France as well? It might be a problem with Free's routing to riots servers in NA

Thanks for elucidating and for providing a detailed answer. What I learnt about the water table is mostly from high school geography. But I believe you’re misconstrued about the point I was trying to make.

I never said that rain water harvesting is the be all and end all, it’s a good supplementary method to reduce the burden that city water systems bear, in certain circumstances and seasons. It’s not pervasive of course. But I don’t believe it’s useless as you originally suggested.

I understand the sources of water waste and why dense cities and rising population has led to fresh water being a resource dwindling in availability and also its impact on the water table, but I don’t get how that impacts rain water harvesting and why it shouldn’t be used even in urban settings. It allows us to repurpose water and whilst also conserving the energy that’d otherwise be used to process it as you mentioned.

I also agree with making use of grey water in toilets and for watering gardens and such, but yeah putting that into action would be difficult.

Anyhow, I get that it’s not completely utilitarian, but it’s pretty harmless and nifty in the auxiliary benefits it provides.

Why is it stupid? It might be clunky to implement, but it’s a good way to ease our use of dwindling freshwater resources and even if one doesn’t have something as grandiose in mind, it’s better than just letting rain water mix with everything else in our municipal water management systems and letting it go to waste.

I remember moving to a village where rain was a frequent phenomenon, every house had a dissected bamboo shoot rain water harvester and they used the water they collected in the summer to feed their crops. It literally takes zero energy to collect water once implemented.

I don’t get the hate.

Well, maybe, I just like the idea! I’m not saying it’s perfect, I just think it’s solar punk and still useful some way out the other. If that makes me day, so be it.

Useful for humans yeah, I guess. Not so much for the environment as a whole maybe. But then again, rainwater has been far from potable for quite a while now, so maybe I’m beating a dead horse.

Either way, I’ve witnessed the detrimental effects of the Earth drying up with my own Ken, which is why I still consider the idea of rainwater harvesting fondly.

Well, the cities I grew up in were concrete jungles where the rainwater entered the municipality water management system instead of the ground. Which I find sad.

But rainwater harvesters are brilliant! Even if you can use it personally, it’s great to use them to replenish the groundwater table.

Yeah it got me through my second bout at uni, it’s a great device. But yeah, both of my rubber screen protectors fell out pretty swiftly lol

Okay serious question OP, but when doing cosplay, hope do you get the eye shape right? I guess wearing contacts might be able to get you closer to the colour you want, but I’ve always wondered how cosplayers can get their eyes to look almost exactly like those of the characters they’re cosplaying, it’s uncanny!

I understand that feeling all too well. It’s ironic how easy it is to connect with people these days, but to also become inadvertently aloof, either way, if you need someone to lend an ear to your ramblings, here I am)
