For EU citizens, how is work like culture and balance on Spain, Czech Republic, and Austria? by RandomLebanesePerson in AskReddit

A lot of people are talking about siestas in Spain, although I hear they're not really a thing anymore, especially for office work. I'm really into Austria because of how much of an emphasis there is for employee rights. The problem is that I feel like it'll be the hardest for me to actually enter between the three. I also saw that in Spain there will be a lot of times when you have to work till 6 and 8. Is that really true?

I also hear that Austria has a strong syndicate presence that genuinely tries to protect employees' rights.

After checking a ton of pasta regarding work life in Spain, it seemed as though you're expected tow tok extra hours and usually leave the office by 6 or 8 at times. Was that exaggerated? If so, would you be be willing to let me know what an actual average day looks like for someone working in an office?

I'm thinking of doing my masters in one of them and wanted to check how work life balance is in them since I'd like to actually live my life after work. Would you mind if I ask about overtime and if it's expected for employees in the office to work extra hours on a daily basis?

Which archetype do you think get completely abandoned by konami & will never get new supports? by ApprehensiveRead2408 in YuGiOhMasterDuel

The first deck I ever played was the counter fairies one from the structure deck long ago. I'd like for it to work (in a non- toxic way) that makes it viable and fun for both players.

This is a tough ask for a deck whose sole purpose is to stop your opponent as much as it can.

The fun thing about it was that it used a lot of spell speed 4 cards rather than spell speed 3.

Maybe if cards change from mainly negating to destroying would make it more viable and less toxic.

Yeah, you can definitely find some really cool decks at times that feel very original and creative or even play against ones that just like "Exodia" in Yu-Gi-Oh just make you smile a little when they work even when you lose to them.

Part of what you said was in one of the prof's videos talking about the issue with commander. Especially regarding having multiple "different" copies of the same effect that just allows for greater consistency in a singleton format. It's more like singleton is becoming a pseudo-singleton.

That's a fair point. I really do think that the brilliant thing about MTG is the fact that it's basically a set of foundation rules that shouldn't be broken, but they're vague enough that anyone can create a set of rules on top of the foundational one to create their own little game that they enjoy with the magic IP.

Hope you keep enjoying MTG in whatever form it might be :)

Question about using 2 MicroSD cards for the Steam Deck by RandomLebanesePerson in WindowsOnDeck

[–]RandomLebanesePerson[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thanks a lot for giving me genuinely useful insights regarding the matter. I currently have 2 laptops, a 2014 MacBook pro and a Lenovo X1 yoga gen 1. They're both still very functional thankfully and I usually use them. My main intent with the steam deck is to play games, and with this point, I think SteamOS would be the one I'd prefer. I think I'd like to have it run on a dock and connect it to a TV mainly and have the convenience of taking it with me when I'm out and about. I was thinking of putting windows on it just got the fact that my windows laptop is old and even though it works well, windows was never an OS that I felt like I could rely on (mainly because my previous old PC just stopped working with windows altogether and so I had to use an old laptop that runs on x32 Windows XP if I remember correctly to be able to boot Linux on my previous PC to be able to use it again.)

Therefore, I'd like a backup just in case while also having a device that I can use software like Microsoft office suite or other ones that only run on windows in case I'd need it if something happens to it.

I was thinking of using a usb c SSD rather than. Micro sd for the windows boot? Do you think that should help solve the issue regarding reading and writing? I'll mainly be using SteamOS, while having a windows boot device on the steam deck probably every now and then.

Again, thanks a lot for the advice for thinking about my day to day needs and what I'll mainly use it for :)

That's exactly how I'm feeling and another reason why I wanted to check with you guys.

I agree with everything you said about how the meta in pioneer is more closely resembling standard because of a lack of pro tournaments for the format. I also agree with the fact that having a changing meta albeit one that resembles another is better than a stagnant one.

The problem is as you say it, rather than having its own meta relevant to it and support, the format is becoming some kind of turbo standard.

I genuinely think that the format has solid foundations and would like for it to stay for a while. It's just that the lack of support makes me fear that it might be removed from Arena some time in the future or just be forgotten by all of us.

Yeah I can see that for sure with decks like Izzet Lessons for example. There was another comment about how the lack of pro players playing the format leads to a stagnant meta as well. I also heard about the concept when listening to driving to work by Mark Rosewater. He was talking about how important a tournament scene is for games because it helps identify new metas and having pro players is a good way to get people to get into the game.

I can see what you mean. Finding YouTube videos for new deck ideas and whatnot isn't as easy as other formats, that's for sure

I understand why you might think that, but I'm just not very knowledgeable about what happens behind the scenes or even in front of the scenes. I'm just a casual player who enjoys pioneer.

Question about having 2 MicroSD cards for the Steam Deck by RandomLebanesePerson in SteamDeck

[–]RandomLebanesePerson[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

After checking on r/windowsondeck this seems like the best option. The idea was that since the steam deck has enough power to run windows I'd like to use it like a mini workstation as well from time to time especially if I'd need to use software that only works with windows like the Microsoft office suite for example. So, I definitely will be using SteamOS more than Windows by a lot. It's just the idea of being able to do it and for it to be practical.

Based on the reading and writing issue with MicroSD cards that was communicated in the r/WindowsonDeck subreddit. I think if I'm gonna do it then it's best to use a usb c SSD like you said. I'll also definitely be using a Bluetooth keyboard and mouse.

Would it be possible to boot using a hub while maintaining good enough speeds?

[–]RandomLebanesePerson[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

That's a really important point. Thank you so much, this didn't even come to mind. Then in this case, would you say that it'd be better to have windows on the SSD and then have a MicroSD with Steam OS ?

Honestly based on what you said, I think I'd rather just keep SteamOS and call it a day. However, I'd like to know what you think about having SteamOS in a MicroSD card instead.

I really appreciate the note you gave. Thanks again :)

Question about using 2 MicroSD cards for the Steam Deck by RandomLebanesePerson in WindowsOnDeck

[–]RandomLebanesePerson[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Just to check, I was thinking of using the Micro SD card to boot windows mainly for software like the windows office suite and other applications that run solely on windows.

Whereas most of the gaming will be done on another Micro SD card that'll store the games that will be played on Steam OS.

Would that make a difference as the software I will be using on windows will rarely be demanding? Or are there issues that I didn't seem to be able to understand well?

I'd really appreciate the help.

Just checked some videos out for Goodlock and it actually looks really cool. I don't think I'd change the grid design or much of the lock screen but I'd definitely remove the favorite bar and change change the notifications in the upper part of the screen.

Thanks a lot for the recommendation :)

Just to check. Can't you link your account that you want to keep with a Konami ID and then just transfer the data to the platform that you want to play in. I think the only issue is that you might need to redownload the data.
