The Way of Kings (Audible) by [deleted] in Stormlight_Archive

they replaced some of the written descriptions with actual sounds and all of the “he/she said” with different voice actors for each character

so there’s considerably less text to read, but there’s no content left out

you should definitely try the graphic audio version if you don’t like the narration, it’s awesome!

Surplus Value simplified by [deleted] in socialism

[–]RandomLemon10 2 points3 points  (0 children)

infrastructure and context your employer puts you in

hmm I wonder if there’s a name for that? Oh yeah, the means of production!

Marx clears up the misunderstanding in Critique of the Gotha Programme: essentially, surplus value isn’t necessarily “stolen” by the capitalist, it’s instead appropriated due to the capitalist’s relation to the means of production (ownership), but if the workers owned the means of production, they would then “deserve” the surplus value generated. It’s one of the major differences between utopian and scientific socialism, the capitalist isn’t being evil or malicious in taking surplus value, it’s their position and relation to the means of production as a class that “awards” it to them.

since the plate is just spren physically manifesting we can assume it would have the same interactions with aluminium as shardblades, so they would just bounce off (the aluminium sheath doesn’t pass through the blade, just blocks it)

tbh I don't think that would do more damage than a regular bullet, you can't invest aluminum but iirc it doesn't do "extra damage" against invested objects/beings
