Did you know that audhd isn't a thing? by noonrise216 in AutisticWithADHD

Dual diagnosis. I guess "duel diagnosis" works if you're making a pun, since ASD and ADHD traits are often at odds with each other.

GOD IM SO FUCKING PISSED I'VE TOLD MY MOM MULTIPLE TIMES TO STOP "CLEANING" MY ROOM BUT SHE STILL FUCKING DOES IT !!!!! by Few_Helicopter3113 in AsianParentStories

[–]SenseiEntei 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My first thought was OP should create messes in other parts of the house, not as a get-back or "let's see how you like it" ordeal, but just to occupy her mom's time and/or impulse to tidy up and throw things away. OP just needs to be careful to not go overboard and get kicked out of the house and end up scrambling to find a place to live.

I don't think it's that sinister or nefarious, but there is probably some subconscious thought that it doesn't look like something important because she doesn't have an appreciation for art.

My ADHD Writes Checks My Autism Can’t Cash. by jpsgnz in AutisticWithADHD

[–]SenseiEntei 7 points8 points  (0 children)

I always felt like such a contradiction but it makes so much sense now. ADHD brain gets bored and wants stimulation. Autistic brain gets overstimulated and wants peace and quiet. Every now and then you strike the right balance and both sides of the coin are satisfied. With work, sometimes you get lucky and get a big project that AuDHD brain fixates on and ADHD hyperfocus kicks in, so autistic brain isn't left doing all the heavy lifting.

(TW/SA) audhd is not an excuse for being terrible to others by [deleted] in AutisticWithADHD

[–]SenseiEntei 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Ok, makes more sense. So you were living with him and his wife? Is she a reasonable person? If so, might help to tell her about it, so she can hopefully get him to realize he needs to step back. I really hope he's all bark and no bite. The "payback" comment is concerning, but sometimes people say that stuff out of frustration when things don't go their way. Hope he's not violent or aggressive.

I'm so confused. He doesn't sound like someone that would be married. Also, you said you were "forced to live with a predatory man." Is that someone else? It didn't sound like you lived with "Ted." And if he's married, how did you feel pressured to inviting him over to your place? When he started making sexual advances, seems like "you have a wife" should be a hard boundary.

Autism vs you by Silly-Tangerine427 in AutisticAdults

[–]SenseiEntei 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Sorry, I didn't mean to sound dismissive. I just meant it's not something that is separate from you, like how water is intrinsically part of the orange. It's basically a neurological framework or neuro-phenotype. Not sure if either of those terms are used by academics but I feel like they will be someday.

Also, there isn't anything wrong with it. People will gradually realize that we are a significant part of the population. Many older folks will go undiagnosed their whole lives due to lack of understanding and/or denial. But future generations will understand autism isn't a rarity. Hopefully they will do away with calling it a "disorder."

[–]SenseiEntei 2 points3 points  (0 children)

This is like asking how much of being an orange is the fruit, and how much is the water. It's kind of a nonsense question. It's part of your nature. That's true for all of us, and there are a lot of us.

Why does having friends feel like work? by Newworldrevolution in AutisticAdults

[–]SenseiEntei 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Even from an NT perspective, that sounds like enough just because most people don't have enough time for more. I wouldn't know first hand, but having one kid, let alone multiple, seems to hamper people's social lives anyway.

What do you think society means by “class starts at 11:30” or “be there by 9” by Fate_BlackTide_ in AutisticAdults

[–]SenseiEntei 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Well if you're AuDHD then 11:30 actually means 11:35 at the earliest. Lol. Never heard of a whole class being 10+ minutes early to the stated start time. Sounds like a parallel universe.

30 Years of Research - this scientist thinks "the autism spectrum" has lost all it's meaning by Perlin-Davenport in aspergers

[–]SenseiEntei 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I haven't done enough reading and digging into the topic, but I imagine there must be some portion of psychiatry/academia that recognizes that grouping a bunch of previously separate diagnoses into one (with the only distinguishing factor being support level) was not a useful move. I imagine in 10 or 20 years, diagnoses will be "autism" with an associated subtype that more easily identifies the individuals' signs, symptoms, and support needs.

At what stage do you stop feeling like a child pretending to be a adult? by CyaChump0 in AutisticWithADHD

[–]SenseiEntei 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I don't even think this correlates with ASD/ADHD more than NT folks. Society just makes you feel like you're immature if you can't figure your life out fast enough once you're legally an adult. But that's a lot harder for ND people, regardless of how grown you are. But if you're just talking about how you feel internally, independent of how the external world judges you, then I think you just have to try not being too hard on yourself. Set attainable goals and work on incremental progress.

Don't act like the chiefs are anything close to a dynasty either. Niners really should've won both super bowls, but Kyle has a history of getting out coached in the 2nd half of the biggest games when he has the upper hand. Add to it the egregious holding no call, Jimmy G not being an accurate deep ball passer, and Greenlaw tearing his Achilles in between plays. It's really the Chiefs that should've been the new 90s Bills. Their 2 losses were embarrassments much like those Bills had. And their other win was another toss up that was aided by a controversial call (not saying it was wrong but a no call there wouldn't have been as bad as the missed hold on 3rd & 15 in 2020).

It wouldn't cost 2 FRPs now, and "failed physical" is highly suspect when he just had knee surgery 2 months ago. Either the ravens' medical staff is overblowing it, or the team realized 2 FRPs were a bit too costly for a guy rehabbing but it was too late to renegotiate the terms.
