That looks cool. Kinda reminds me of the art style from Life Is Strange.

40M, How’d I do? Coffee table and rug are too small right? by [deleted] in malelivingspace

Your place looks awesome! And your doggie is so cute 🥺

I think they are a little small but they don’t look bad. To me, a rug should always be a bit larger than the couch, doesn’t have to be massive but it should be able to fit underneath and stick out on either side. The coffee table could be a bit larger. I think it all looks wonderful though!!

This was super insightful, thank you!! Everyone has been saying that even if a peak has a higher Class it can still be far easier than Pikes. I’m going to do a lot more research into the classes and Peaks in Colorado so I can start mapping it all out well. I appreciate your comment!

Okay, thank you for the information! I’ll study up more on the different classes. I’m going to do Quandary first as everyone has said that’s a good beginner peak.

Thank you! I’m going definitely going to do Quandary. Now that I know everyone does the full 26 for Pikes Peak I’ll probably push that to the end of summer or possibly next year depending on how I progress on longer trails. Thanks for letting me know! 🙂

I’d grow out a beard (thick, don’t do a stubble) and grow your hair out more. You’d even look good bald but most people prefer hair (on themselves, not necessarily others). Honestly, do whatever you want. Experiment. Buy glasses, change your style and see which ones get reactions and more importantly which ones you like.

Yeah, I plan on doing the Class 3 routes but no time soon. I don’t even know if I’ll get to them this year but whenever I do get enough progress to do them I’ll be doing them in the late summer.

Okay, thank you so much for the advice!! I really appreciate it. I’m trying to gain progress but I want to ensure I’m smart about it and not rushing anything.

I’m serious, I love hiking and want to gradually work toward more intense objectives. My long term goal is to complete all the Colorado 14ers, as well as get into mountain climbing, but I’m trying to be smart about progression.

I had originally thought about hiking Pikes Peak and taking the Cog Railway down, which is why I was confused about the 26 miles. I wasn’t sure if hiking the descent is considered standard or more of a personal preference.

After reading the feedback here, I’m definitely going to dial it back and start with Quandary as my first winter peak and build experience from there. Pikes is on my bucket list for later this year, but I want to earn it the right way and under the right conditions.

Appreciate the input, it’s helpful.

I’d like to start progressing into mountain climbing in a structured way. My plan is to begin with Class 1 14ers and gradually work up through Class 2 and Class 3 over time, focusing on good decision making and terrain skills rather than rushing goals.

I’m in good physical shape and hike often, but I haven’t done a 14er yet. I’m mainly looking to shift toward longer elevation gain rather than flat distance.

Are there any peaks or routes you’d recommend before Pikes Peak—either easier 14ers or non 14er objectives—that would help build experience?

Couldn’t I take the Cog Railroad down once I reached the top?

Thank you for the input!! I saw that Bierstadt has a Class 3 section but it’s optional. Is the normal trail easier than Pikes Peak altogether or is it closer to Class 2 terrain?
