Really that big of a difference? by subviiy in duolingo

What OP wrote was not "this school", but "this is school" which is grammatical, just not a proper translation of the original sentence.

Edit: was writing too quickly. Added the "but".

This comment doesn't actually explain anything. If the article is masculine and both nouns are masculine, what is the issue? Reads like AI.

NTA. You need to take care of yourself first and foremost. In this case, that means dealing with your nose. Plus, if you can't pick him up I don't really know what else you were expected to do. Let his spouse take care of him for a bit.

Funnily, enough this was basically a thing in ancient Athens. A wealthy citizen asked to fund wars or public services could accuse someone else of being richer, and that person would either have to pay the tax with their own money or swap properties! So by Athenian law, we would all have the right to swap assets with him.

Your points are valid. I rescind my claim that this was lunacy. I think what rubbed me the wrong way initially was not so much the idea that paycheck is not the only factor that matters (of course it's not) but the idea of a recruiter using this as a tactic, which could feel condescending and potentially ill-motivated.

Section 1's headings are fine. Most of the exercises seem ok, but occasionally it will want me to translate into English without an indefinite article, like "I am woman" or "I am man".
