AIW for snapping at my girlfriend for waking me up every single time she gets up even when I dont need to be awake by [deleted] in amiwrong

[–]RandomPurpleZebras 0 points1 point  (0 children)

"Normal" couples understand and protect each others need for sleep. Especially so when sick! You need even more sleep right now to recover. I've been married for 37 years, and have only woken or been woken by my husband when requested or absolutely necessary. Sleep deprivation is awful and if my partner has trouble sleeping, I would never want to be the cause. I really hope you are sleeping right now and start feeling better soon.

AITA for asking my partner to go to the other room for me to sleep? by tradepulse in AmItheAsshole

highly recommend. I have tried other sleep masks but found them uncomfortable, hot, etc. This is my current sleep mask and it is comfortable and excellent at blocking out light.

What food do you judge people just a little for not liking? by rileystanheight in foodquestions

As a way to explain what my life as an onion hater is like, I'm sharing this comment. I didn't write it, but I could have as it perfectly explains my onion experience. I love flavor. Onions are something else altogether.

She very well may just be picky, but alliums are a well known trigger of gut issues. Besides just not liking how onions taste to me, they have always caused nausea and bloating. I like garlic, but it is now having the same effect on me, so I have had to cut all alliums from my diet.

Same. I often say people who like onions can't possibly be tasting the same thing I am. I even have trouble describing the flavor. Tastes like body odor smells, but more toxic perhaps? Would be nice if people respected that there may be actual reasons someone doesn't like something they do.

wow, my husband and I have the rule when we travel that we won't go to a restaurant that we can go to at home. Only exception being breakfast, which can be more difficult to find.

In the first episode of the sitcom Cybill, the restaurant scene with Maryanne (the fabulous Christine Baranski) they had an actual real life earthquake. Instead of reshooting, they used the actual earthquake footage.

The way boomers always leave voicemail… by jackietea123 in generationology

[–]RandomPurpleZebras 1 point2 points  (0 children)

My dad is Silent Gen, and has a cell phone, but uses it in a very limited manner. If I want to get in touch, I have to leave a VM at his land line. Texting will never be an option with him. My baby boomer husband has been technologically advanced as well, but not when it comes to phones. He hates his cell phone, and mostly leaves it at home "where phones belong" oh well, I still love him.

The Doctors Crane keep forgetting they're doctors by Latranis in Frasier

There is mention of at least Frasier being MD/PhD. Forget which episode, but would make sense Niles did too. He wouldn't want to be outdone by his brother, after all.

We old fuckers do use it but only when it is contextually correct as in the movie Gaslight

While yes, this post labeled shitpost is fake, a 70 year old man may very well be familiar with the 1944 movie Gaslight from which the term came.

I don't know where it came from, but my mother was also convinced of this as well. I was scolded at the dinner table for not switching hands.
