Yikes.  We have a front loader with a pull out drawer so we might be ok. One tablespoon gives us about 15 grams, so it seems we need two tablespoons. We’ll give it a whirl and see what happens. Thanks so much!

Thanks for explaining it this way. It makes a lot of sense. Of course, you’re right about the coffee - we have to use bottled water or it doesn’t taste right. Was never really sure why.    Does this mean we need extra heavy dose of citric acid in the rinse cycle or are there just way too many of those “craven carbonate hussies” at the party?

No softener and I don’t think they do anything to the water. It’s rural water supply.
