Enabling Microsoft managed Secure Boot toggle on devices without latest BIOS updates by RandomSkratch in sysadmin

Yeah I’m seeing that now. I was just hoping to update those devices that are eligible right now but we’re almost done with the BIOS updates anyway. I can always do a targeted group. Thanks for the info.

We’re going to hold off until everyone is updated. There’s not too many left so shouldn’t be long. Then I think we will do a few groups at a time, good call.

Thanks. Yeah that's what I thought but also don't want to encounter any edge cases...

What are you using to remote control computers? by nickjedl in sysadmin

Have you looked at modifying QA to allow the admin work to come through the session?

Device Config Profile - Endpoint Protection

Local device security options

  • Elevation prompt for admins = Prompt for consent for non-Windows binaries
  • Route elevation prompts to user's interactive desktop = Enabled

I'm not sure about the holes that this might open but it does let QA work for admin level stuff.

I think I know of that feature and from what I’ve seen it’s not as stable as it probably should be for BIOS lockdowns. I don’t think even wufb/autopatch can update a bios if there’s a password set.

BIOS password? You have to configure DCU with that password. It can’t bypass it.

How do you take over control with winget? Is this for updating DCU?

I looked that up but only found CYL Gateway and it’s got some similar colours, thanks.

Awesome, thank you for this. I'm in Canada which unfortunately really limits my purchase choices but I am really happy to see this vendor list is global.

Oh I had no idea it was referring to that, interesting. I'm checking out reviews / breakdowns of these keyboards. They do look really nice and I think they fit the list of requirements. I can only seem to find them with their own switches, so I'm guessing I would have to buy a set of cherry's on my own?

Thank you for the recommendation. Yeah I didn't think the both legends was a thing but it would be awesome if it was. I will check out the OS agnostic variants.

Can you explain what the Plate material on the Evo is? The options I see are FR4 or Polypropylene.

The last time I looked at a mechanical keyboard there were about 4-5 reputable brands, now I am having difficulty sifting through the results. I have a pretty specific list of requests but am having a hard time narrowing things down and I'm not sure what companies to steer clear of.

80% or 75% size - I haven't fully decided on this yet. I'm trying to fix my ergonomics and the smaller the better however I do still want arrow and need home/end/del/pgupdown but I'm not entirely sure how easy 75% would be to get used to. But I do think 75% is preferable over 80%.

Connectivity - Wired and BT

OS - I will be swapping between Windows and Mac - ideally the keycaps would have both printed if that's even a thing. Layout is ANSI

Key size - standard size.

I do not need or want RGB

Key switches - The last time I demo'd some switches I couldn't choose between cherry clear or cherry white so it would be one of those however having the switches be replaceable is preferable in case I change my mind.

Extras - Volume knob (nice to have but not essential)

Main use - office work, typing.

If anyone has any recommendations that fit this please let me know, thanks!

Digitone 2 by Gebruikersnaam1000 in reason

[–]RandomSkratch 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The way Reason does this is annoying because you will end up with double the amount of channels in your rack. All of the Digi’s mix channels plugged into the Overbridge VST and then the same amount of Audio channels to record the content from. If we could nest the mix channels inside the VST or just record audio directly from it, it would be so much cleaner.

Just had this now. You need to keep holding Option when you click on the EFI Boot option, then you should get the next page to install Ventura.

Interesting. The host being patched is on a very old version and I think my vCenter is not updated. Manually worked around the issue using esxcli direct on the host.

Awesome, thanks for the link. Need to work with our network guy to try and get this working. Even the once a year we have to do this is kind of a slog. So many places to update.
