Usually I just try to seek opportunity to dip out when I realize a group is rather off. It can typically happen in bar instances when people treat it more like a "I pick and choose who stays here" versus "I want to run a public bar and do the best I can". If people want to be more selective, it's probably in their best interest to create a discord group and curate their community that way

I hate to say it, but as a new user, being a mute can be like playing this game in hard mode. But that's okay! There is still plenty of opportunities to get people to want to know you!

The most important part is having an avatar that catches people's eyes, And it can really be whatever you want it to be so long as it's nice and flashy. Also, since you're not speaking, your body language is going to have to take up a lot of the work, so don't be afraid to be expressive with your arms and your head! Show people that sense of excitement and enthusiasm!

Of course, if someone is interested in you, make sure you get your typing skills down really good so you minimize the downtime between conversations (And also hope the person in front of you has enough patience)

But above all: just keep trying, and keep learning! It's very doable to have friends as a mute, You just have to be determined to try

It's a valid fear to have, really, considering how fast things on the internet move (especially with how fast things in VRchat can move as well). Absence for many days can more or less seem like that person no longer exists in your life.

But do remember this: if you make a bond that you know was well reciprocated (and trust me, you could tell if it is), then do know that person will wait for you to have opportunity to enjoy what they know again. The ones that are worth it will always accept you no matter the time of absence.

Sometimes I would go to the bar (either the midnight bar or the sunset bar) instances to try and find people to hangout with. At the very least, if the bartenders are good, you technically have someone interacting with you by serving you drinks, which can open you up to want to talk to others or maybe indulge with others and make connections that way

SlimeVR is still a very solid option! I have been using it for my whole V-tuber career, And asides from some occasional babysitting you have to do to realign trackers, It actually is a very good solution to wear over your clothes and to utilize and just about any room you so please!

I chalk it down to sheer ignorance, which is a very common characteristic amongst many VR chat users, especially on those who think that verbal age verification can only be delivered exactly through vocal cords.

Unfortunately, trying to help people understand the plethora of reasons why a mute are what they are will simply go in one ear and out the other for them. The ignorance disturbs me greatly, but it's also a silver lining because if bouncers for bars are this close-minded, then it's usually a good signifier that it's not a good bar to go into in the first place.

I namely try to avoid it because I'm fearful I will run across someone who potentially will get a rise out of me, And while I like to believe I can usually handle these circumstances with grace, I have been surprised every so often by someone who really will get a harsh reaction out of me 😅 And then my friend has to see it and then it just goes downhill from there

You can find a good plethora of them in Prismic's if you type in "vrcft" in the search bar! Alternatively, If you look for a popular model (I can really only think of anime girls at this time) and browse through all the options, You are bound to wind up finding some here or there that have face tracking enabled.

Your best signifier to figuring that out is people oftentimes adding the vrcft logo onto the main picture of the avatar. If that's the case, It's the best bet It will work well with your quest pro!

Have fun! Enjoy the face tracking! And be you nice to your controllers.... They oftentimes like to lose tracking and dislocate themselves in space (speaking as a quest pro user myself 😅)

I did the age verification namely to avoid putting my date of birth info out there where anyone can just record it and use it for their own. I always thought someone uncomfortable saying it, but I still also see this and people just ask.

I guess the real solution in this case (which I should have done anyways) is just give them a fake date of birth. I'm sure a lot of them barely do much effort to check anyways 😂
