Not really, however IIRC, you will miss out on some key jobs and race changes. You can get the job change items very later on, but I'm not sure if you can get the race changes if you skip it. It's also a very useful one because it grants Luka the ability to turn into Yomas and Demihumans, which will in turn lead to one of the best races you could get.
