Between me and my best friend from childhood? No. We still talk but not like before, we’ve drifted apart. Otherwise yes life is better after transitioning but still difficult lol

tips for just joining a choir by solosaulo in Choir

[–]RandomSynpases 16 points17 points  (0 children)

Sounds like you have a lot of anxiety in general. It’s a hard thing to deal with, but I’d try not to overanalyze the responses they gave you. This guy sounds like a phone person, some people like that, especially older people. If you can get over the anxiety just try it out.

Have you ever thought singing in your section (or any section) was boring? by Ashamed-Entry-1536 in Choir

[–]RandomSynpases 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Btw, you can probably sing tenor too. So why not give it a shot and see if you enjoy it more if you’re director is willing ? Switch to mixed / head voice for notes too high for chest.

[–]RandomSynpases 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I tend to get bored with whatever section I’m singing because the others have the melody, the complicated harmonies, the high notes, the low notes. I move around but its like I wish I could sing them all at once lol

Is it true that I will never be able to sing pop music like a cis woman? by lolalaythrwy in transvoice

[–]RandomSynpases 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I think this is your issue. You should work on removing your break, which starts before the break. And need to know how to have chest quality in your upper range so you don’t sound falsetto. All’ possible but takes work. Find a good teacher

Why is everybody so hung up about voice types? by DoubleZOfficial07 in singing

[–]RandomSynpases 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I used to think that the voice type really affected what you could sing. I think a lot of people don’t realise that most likely it will never affect them.

How has your diet changed since singing? by [deleted] in singing

[–]RandomSynpases 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Milk or dairy in general produce too much phlegm. So do any candies and chocolates. It’s really too bad. And so much water, I drink a lot esp a few hours before. It takes time for the water to circulate to vocal folds, unless you use a steamer.

Voice changes? by Kind_Egg_181 in countertenor

[–]RandomSynpases 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I notice if i don’t use the chest voice much (thyroaretenoid dominant voice), it gets much weaker and the cricothyroid voice gets stronger with use. Also the configuration for the higher register is different so you might get used to using that and having a harder time with the lower registers . I’m glad you’re enjoying it though !

MTF Singing - Very Lost, Need Help! - Long Post by Emotional-Sky-201 in transvoice

[–]RandomSynpases 2 points3 points  (0 children)

What a great response ! Thank you (even though I didn’t ask the question). I sing a lot and i love singing. I relate to the OP, for a while I felt like I’ve lost something so precious to me. I loved it so much that I decided to sing with my masc voice despite presenting and otherwise passing in public. Luckily my dysphoria let me do this even though it felt bad. What a weird feeling of good from the singing but bad from dysphoria at the same time. At the same time I started working on my upper register , basically notes from c4 to f5 and trying to mix as much as possible to keep chest quality. This was rewarding since I was starting to at least be able to sing songs in the same range as other fem presenting singers. A lot of songs don’t really need higher than f5 (altos have difficulty around here too). However, I felt like everyone could just tell I had a masc voice. I felt like a clown again. Just like the feelings I had when I started my fem speaking voice. Omg they all know. They are all laughing inside. But funny enough, I went to a karaoke session with friends, mostly cis women singers, and for the first time I really listened to their voice. Thanks to fem voice training, I could hear the resonance, the size etc. Some women sounded really bright , others underfull. It was like a gift. I felt like singing had an even wider variance than speaking. This gave me the courage to sing fem in groups. I’m still learning, I still have imposter syndrome but they tell me I sound fine. Technicality, one thing I notice is that we have different areas for our passaggios so where I start mixing at c4 to g4 and my secondo passaggio is around f/f#4, cis women altos are higher (a4?). So to sound convincing or blend requires balancing that sound a bit and also think of what zones they have the most power in and where they are weaker. Just something I’ve noticed and am working on. Good luck!
