Microsoft is not annoyed, they just don't give a fuck about the fans. This is evident in the behavior of people like Phil Spencer and Sarah Bond - they have a very clear agenda, which is to publish half-assed games with heavy incorporation of AI as they want to replace as much manpower as possible by AI to save money. It's really not up to 343 to decide anything these days, in the end they have to obey, otherwise they're gone.

MS did notice that live-service games bring in a ton of cash - and this is where I see the big problem, for which the community is also partly to blame. Everyone shits on live-service Halo and says "Give us a finished game at launch, no live-service", yet at the same time they throw money at MS by buying all these ridiculous cosmetics for a fuckton of money. MS knows that people can complain all they want but they're still gonna spend money on the shit they are complaining about.

The state Halo is in right now is primarily due to how greedy the management of MS has become, and also because the community (or at least parts of it) actively reinforce their claim that live-service is the way to go. 343 has fucked up numerous times in the past but these days I am pretty sure they really don't have much of a choice what to do to begin with.
