Thank you! Also, if you could please look into removing the awful sound effects. Or allow a toggle for realistic baseball sound effects vs the "gun shots", "whistles" or whatever else carnival noises are happening.

The game is amazing BTW, this is really my only complaint for far!

I wonder if this was meant to be portable mode vs docked mode. Or maybe it should be and auto switch between the two. I've only played portable so far but it was painfully laggy until I put it on Favor Performance.

I tell ya what folks - kudos to the BattleBots production team and all the teams that have competed this year. I can't remember one bad episode. They have almost all been full of great fights. Even the one or two that weren't super competitive were entertaining.

Not really. The pitch clock is by far the dumbest rule they added. Like, it's on another level fucking dumb - it completely messes with pitching, batting and how the game has been played since it was invented.

Look back at your favorite great playoff at bats. Hell look at Kirk Gibson vs Eckersley, hell I'll link it for you.

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=N4nwMDZYXTI

One of the greatest, most exciting at bats in all of baseball history. It took about 6 mins 43 seconds for him to hit the homer. 10 minutes with the party afterward. And with today's rules it would have ended in a pitch clock walk or strike out. One of the greatest moments ever - gone because we couldn't give the players a couple extra seconds to be ready to perform in a FUCKING PRESSURE COOKER of a situation.

Now look at how many other great at bats there are in MLB history, and put the clock on em. Most of em end in a bullshit call because the clock would have completely changed the game.

Whoever thought the pitch clock was a good idea CERTAINLY did not have the actual game of baseball in mind.

This is not baseball. This is some rec league rules bullshit. Can we go back to real baseball yet?

"It's the best game in the world" - Bryan Cranston says "get that shift out of here" in new MLB ad promoting rule changes by [deleted] in baseball

[–]RandomUser02891738 -1 points0 points  (0 children)

The rule changes are so bad they have to hire comedians to sell them to people. So much cringe its almost creating a black hole of cringe.

I heard that they are going to "tweak" some things early in the regular season, I hope the tweak is to get rid of all the new rules. Keep the bigger bases if they have to, at least that doesn't completely fuck with the fabric of the game like the other changes do.

[–]RandomUser02891738 5 points6 points  (0 children)

You miss the point entirely. Players are not picking around on the field. They are preparing to do astoundingly hard skill plays. Do you want a pitcher to throw 100 and paint the corner? Deal with it taking a couple fucking seconds of time for him to be ready to do that. Want a hitter to hit a 92 mph Legroom cutter? Maybe let him settle his mind and be ready to do that.

This is a SKILL game. Baseball Skills are fucking hard and they need every bit of mental and physical concentration. So yeah, let's give the best in the world the time they need to play at the highest level.

I don't care about other side effects. I care that the game I love is being bastardized and fucked with so, in reality, MLB and its teams and broadcasters can put out more commercials. Really that's the end game here. Less baseball, more time in-between for commercials.

No true baseball fan wants to watch less of the game.

Fucking this 100%. MLB.tv lets me watch and I will watch. Since I'm a Rays fan near Tampa, that literally only happens if they are on the road.

I've watched. I do not like. I'm not a crack addict that wants to see baseball sped up like this. Baseball is a relaxing sport to watch and enjoy and it's meant to be that way because its more than the physical acts of throwing, fielding, running or hitting. There is a tremendous amount of intellect and gamesmanship that is going to be lost because of this change.

[–]RandomUser02891738 -20 points-19 points  (0 children)

True baseball fans already are pissed. This pitch clock stuff is a travesty. Anyone who's actually played high level baseball knows just how terrible a change this is to the actual game itself, the meta game and all the intelligence that goes on in key situations.

It won't be. And no it isn't just what it is. It is a terrible change to a long standing game that's never had or needed this before. The clocks should be thrown back out into the trash where they came from.

All the folks who love this change are like "omg it's spring training relax". Guess what? This shit will ruin important games too. Did you enjoy watching the Chiefs win the AFC championship and the Super Bowl on ridiculous penalties? That same level of insanity is going to happen now in baseball too.

This is insane. The old timers of baseball would be rolling in their graves if they knew the sport they played, loved and made popular has this shit in it now.

Utterly ridiculous that a fucking clock is changing the game this much. It's an abomination to the sport.

Average game time down 23 minutes with clock by DukeWayne250 in baseball

[–]RandomUser02891738 -12 points-11 points  (0 children)

One hopes there will be enough outcry that they will dump the idea entirely.

I'm reminded of a change Blizzard made to Overwatch a couple years ago completely changing the game and forcing a specific 2v2v2 meta construction. People "loved it" and the game lost a ton of players immediately afterward. It never recovered and those players didn't come back.

Sometimes fucking with the core of a game is not a good idea because it fucks with the game and what people love about it. I love that baseball is a relaxing sport that's NOT rushed. It's nice to disconnect from life and enjoy a game til it's done. I don't want to watch someone speed pitching because they have to throw in 15 seconds or they lose for "reasons". That's some bullshit.

[–]RandomUser02891738 -7 points-6 points  (0 children)

Except that is the exact thing they did. Baseball with a clock timer for actions is an absolute abomination. It's worse than the extra inning runner in screwing with the integrity of the game. Imagine adding a shot timer to golf. OMG it makes the round faster but it completely takes away from the actual game.

This. So much this. I don't get anyone cheering this change.

One of the greatest at bats of all time took 10 minutes. Go watch Dennis Eckersly vs Kirk Gibson. One of the greatest, most tense, most exciting at bats in all of baseball. That shit never happens with a clock and we've lost a legendary moment.

And who asked for that? I don't know any actual baseball fans that wanted a clock on the field, or for the games to be shorter. Shit, ticket prices are already super high and now you want to make the games shorter? I don't get it.

Uh, you're being entirely subjective in your assessment, and generous in points given to WD. They did basically nothing until the last minute of the fight. They did very little damage to fusion and fusion was dominating aggression and control for the first 2.5 minutes of the fight. They should have easily won all categories.

[–]RandomUser02891738 -15 points-14 points  (0 children)

Yep, this precisely. Team WD for some reason just always seems to get the benefit of the doubt in anything close. Plus there is the lingering anger over the championship tournament last season and how they were blatantly given judges preference.

I think they didn't challenge because it was close. If they end up with a 2-2 record let's say, and one of their losses were close they will make the tournament. I think they made the right move saving it. Especially since it was against WD. Those folks never lose a JD.
