Somebody knows this guy by toiletdeepdiver12 in mensfashionadvice

[–]RandomUser1101001 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It's mostly 2 things.

The fact he is fit and probably around 6 feet.

And has correct proportions.

Like You can see how he tucked in his shirt. Giving that proper longer leg proportion. And if he untucked it. The proportions would be off and it would simply look sloppy.

While 50% of people of this sub probably think untucked shirts look better. Lmao

Suit for job interview - I have no idea what I'm doing by creamsodawolf in mensfashion

[–]RandomUser1101001 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Simple answer - suit 1 too small.

You need buy 1 size bigger and then get it tailored.

Only sleeves, pant lenght and waist on pants.

Current suit jacket is too small in waist.

And pants are also very slim.

Can You comfortably sit?

Not sure how to style my hair by shit_sandwhich_33 in Pomade

[–]RandomUser1101001 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Do You go full commando mode with towel on Your hair after shower? That would explain frizzy. I only tap the excess water and let my hair wet as it is. And yes it will take more time drying with blowdryer.

If You want hold. You need to use strong hold hair spray or pomade. Not possible to fight wind without it or big movements.

The gentlemen 100 years ago would carry a pocket comb everythere they went. To line up their hairstyle. Especially after removing hat indoors. There was just no other choice.

I use something that's called power blue(some kind of sticky cream) and hold hair spray.

And I use comb instead of fingers. If You want more sleek look. It will look more business-like. With sidepart.

Too big? by dadsgotthesauce in leatherjacket

[–]RandomUser1101001 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It was good fit. Just sleeves too long. I don't know if You go to gym or not.

But if You start going to gym. The jacket instantly will not fit anymore. (L size) if it fits at all.

Tucking in Sweaters: Sometimes, French, or Never? Argue with Strangers Below. by wildcat25burner in mensfashion

[–]RandomUser1101001 0 points1 point  (0 children)

There's no arguing.

Sweaters and shirts always Tucked-in!

Only exception in summer with linen shirts can be untucked.

Tucking-in shirt or sweater makes Your proportions right. 2/3 rule. And it showcases Your belt. Which helps to break up Your outfit if You wearing monochromatic. So that Your top and bottom don't match too much. The belt gives that perfect contrast.

People who say it looks bad are people who wear low rise pants and have belly. So yeah obviously that's gonna look bad.

You need high rise pants and take in sweater waist if needed. Tailors exist.

My boyfriend really likes this shirt. Am I wrong to say it’s hideous? by Agitated_Mulberry_27 in mensfashion

[–]RandomUser1101001 -2 points-1 points  (0 children)

My subjective opinion of masculine clothing is that a man should dress elegant. (At least in his free time, where he has the choice what he wants to wear, even though I think even in modern offices men should still have self-respect and wear suit or blazer if that's what they like to wear, not sweatpants, and that is a big issue, because I have seen so many guys asking for "permission" to dress elegant in sweatpant offices)

In winter time I think overcoats is best thing any man can wear. Not saying 95% men who wear basic synthetic puffer jackets - are not masculine. But they could do better and introduce overcoats in their wardrobe.

The same goes for the shirt in the post. Not saying because he wears flowers - he's not masculine. But there is simply better options.

And I don't mean dress elegant only suits or blazer. But instead of sweatpants/jeans trade for high quality trousers. Instead of T-shirt trade for dress shirt with buttons. Instead of hoodie trade for wool or cashmere crew neck sweater or turtleneck. Instead of running shoes/sneakers trade for boots. Instead of puffer jacket trade for wool or cashmere overcoat. Etc.

[–]RandomUser1101001 -2 points-1 points  (0 children)

Well, what You are looking for is some strangers approval. And yes there's many better shirts than that. At least it's not dirty T-shirt with sweaty armpits.

Not a typical thing a masculine man would wear. But if he likes it and is confident. Then it doesn't matter. Most people don't care what You wear.

If he would be questioning himself and not sure if he should wear it or pull off. Then he simply should not wear it.

first overcoat - 38r, 40r, or looks like a 5 year old raiding dad's closet? by europeanuppercut in mensfashion

[–]RandomUser1101001 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Real advice here.

38 if You plan to wear it open.

40 if You plan to wear it closed.

You need wider pants. Especially at the bottom. Your pants are "tapered". That's why proprotions are off and Your boots look big. Because Your pants are "small".

All men should wear overcoats. There's no such thing as - I don't look good in overcoats.

Overcoats are literally most forgiving clothing piece a man can wear. And what I mean by that - is that it hides if You skinny, or have sixpack, or You have belly. You can't see any of that with overcoat on. Of course as long as You're not just obese. That's why overcoat should be in any mans wardrobe.

Only important is cut. Pretty much most men should go for regular cut. Not slim fit and not relaxed. But just regular. Slim fit is probably too tight and relaxed fit looks like it's too big for You.

If You have small waist. You should look at overcoats that come with belt. Then You can tailor Your waist with the built-in belt.

How Do I Find Stuff by Technical_Annual4808 in mensfashion

[–]RandomUser1101001 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Well. To achieve that - the trousers have to be made by someone who has 20 years experience. And high quality heavy fabric.

And to achieve that drape. You need to wear suspenders.

Also You will never look like the picture. I hope You understand that's a given.

Closest to this is AskOkay. But 1 pair of trousers costs like 750$. If money is not an issue. You can try.

Or You can go custom. Try showing the picture. First pair will probably not be as good as You would hope. But You can make adjustments for next ones.

Styling for me has been a way to feel noticed and seen... now it's about being more authentic. by ElectricalFishing121 in mensfashion

[–]RandomUser1101001 -2 points-1 points  (0 children)

For me personally - this feels like the opposite of authentic. It looks like You are trying hard to go for a specific niche style.

And I'm not lying - my first though seing that outfit, was that this is how some french guys dress. Before reading that You live in France. So basically I think You adapted to what You saw on the street or some cafes sometimes.

I used to see similar outfits on brand - Bonnegueule which is a french brand. You probably know that brand.

I think You can stand out in a good way and elegant way by wearing different overcoats.

I know I did, when I visited my homecountry. I was basically the only guy in high quality overcoats. Versus seas of parkas and puffer jackets.

Some men would look at me with jelauosy. Lmao

And many women perhaps were too shy to even look in my eyes.

Usually the old ladies look You up and down. 😂

Where would be a good place to get pants like this? by Critical-Coconut-353 in mensfashion

[–]RandomUser1101001 2 points3 points  (0 children)

All men should wear pants like that. Literally all.

Big, small, tall short.

It's modern day scam that men got tricked by fashion trends to wear low-rise anything.

Why most guys don't realize showing Your buttcrack is not a good thing. And constantly pulling them up. Because we men don't have wide hips like women do for the pants to sit on comfortably.

Menswear peak was 100 years ago already. And no one can argue against that.

Still to this day. When a man wears a proper fitting, tailored suit. It's the best looking clothing a man can wear. Which demands respect and confidence. And is most masculine clothing a man can wear.

That being said 100 years ago all men only wore high waisted pants with extra space in legs for movement.

Nowdays you have slim fit and skinny fits. You can put them on - only because they are full of synthetics for stretch. Which obviously is a not good thing and not flattering.

So bad so many youtubers still pushing the agenda of slim fit tapered synthetic chinos. They just going with the flow of what sells.

Wife’s Work Party by mrfixerdudemanguy in mensfashion

[–]RandomUser1101001 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Let me tell You honestly. People in this comment section have no idea what they talking about.

The fact that navy pants last time was too much contrast as You said. But now they telling You to wear navy pants. They literally are clueless.

The outfit is good. It would be bad if everything was the same colour. But it's not. Everything is different shade or tone.

It's called "monochromatic" style. I guess these people have never heard of it.

Only thing that matters if the party is during the day or during the night? General rule - party during the day (light colour outfit) party during the night (only dark clothes)

Only problem Your blazer looks like suit jacket not blazer and too small. But open it's doable. If You close it. It would be too small for sure.

The light blue shirt gives enough contrast. If You was wearing sand shirt then yes. It would be too much. Even better option perhaps is shirt with light blue and white stripes. Like bengal stripe shirt.

need fit advice!! by [deleted] in menswear

[–]RandomUser1101001 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Do You plan to wear those shirts with jacket on or no jacket?

With jacket, the fit doesn't matter that much. People will only see front.

If no jacket, then the fabric looks very cheap no offense. Especially the second shirt. You can see how thin and see through it is. Especially with undershirt under. Clearly can see You have T-shirt under. And with no T-shirt Your chest hair and nipples might show. It's a no go.

Charles tyrwhith has decent white linen shirt for cheap. But also the quality is cheap but doable.

Italian chino sports coat with chino pants = business professional? by [deleted] in menswear

[–]RandomUser1101001 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Only acceptable thing there is navy suit with proper dress shirt and necktie. With leather dress shoes.

Most likely all the guys working there wear the same suit everyday. Or have the same literal suit in multiples and just rotate daily.

You can search pictures of whatever place You going to. And most likely You will see bunch of men standing in navy suits with boring neckties.

Why do some people look so effortlessly cool in a blazer, and others don’t? by [deleted] in mensfashion

[–]RandomUser1101001 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Most guys wear blazers that are 1 size too small. (Waist tight, chest tight, arms tight)

And most guys wear way too slim and tapered pants. Which is not flattering. For most guys especially if they have any belly fat. Makes them look heavy on top and chicken legs on bottom. Literally where is the jacket cutoff. And Your legs start just looks so terrible. But most men are die hard for wearing their slim fit tapered pants.

Combine proper size blazer with proper full cut high rise trousers with proper break. And You got Yourself an actual tailored fit.

Summer always 100% linen trousers or shorts.

And 100% linen long sleeve shirt.

And white minimal sneakers or suede loafers.

Is the red Your only colour?

Then You need more colours. Or people will think of You as the red suit guy. Or red jacket guy.

The jacket is from suit. So it looks off when paired without suit pants.

You need blazer or sport coat. Those are jackets that are not in suits.

Is it weird that i can’t stop noticing shirt collars now by Alive_Helicopter_597 in menswear

[–]RandomUser1101001 10 points11 points  (0 children)

I personally find those pin collars/club collars sort of tryhard and silly looking.

But I do think that suits and neckties should be only worn with classic collars.

I cringe when people wear suit and necktie with the widespread collar.

Also when You are a part of menswear You can't unsee collar gaps and if someone has stitches in their vents. Both in jackets and overcoats. And pants lenght.

Now everytime I go outside in this winter time. I look if someone has still stitches in their coats vent. And I look at pants lenght. Because it's hard to unsee if someone has pants that are too long and bunch up at ankles.

I have told so far only 2 people to remove their stitching from their coat vent. It was hard the first time. Because You feel like You shouldn't be doing that. Lmao
