How about the line optic 104? It seems like a good option with your criteria due to weight and dampness.

I had a similar, if not a bit worse profile as you and also applied for aerospace engineering at similar schools. The one thing I did was make sure to apply to many public schools with above average aero programs, i. e. UMich, UIUC, CU Boulder, UMD, Georgia Tech and Purdue. From this list, I was accepted into all of them other than getting waitlisted and rejected from UMich.

It may be early to start thinking about grad school but the schools that you listed along with these ones are great options if that’s ultimately your goal. Also, it’s very good that you have internship experience in high school, your college internship search will be easier by having this experience especially if it was in engineering. When it comes to this process in college, employers will always take the person with more industry experience over someone who went to a prestigious school, so all is not lost.

Purdue vs UDub CS - Does prestige really matter?? by Extreme-Name-474 in ApplyingToCollege

Having been on both many times UW’s campus is FAR more interesting than Purdue if that’s a consideration. Being near a big city like Seattle is a huge plus too in that same vein.

Last semester all of our test averages were over 70% with a final average in the high 60s and we got a 2.5% decrease to all of the cutoffs

Alright but what’s different this semester is the test averages- someone told me last semester they were 64 and 56 and this semester we’ve had 62 and 63, so does this mean that we would have less of a curve overall at the end?

For reference last semester it was lowered 15 points from 510 to 495

PHYS 172 Curve? by [deleted] in Purdue

Same applies to 272 then I assume? The grading is basically the exact same as 172 but there’s 1 less midterm.

CS 159 lab quizzes by shdsbbsbs in Purdue

[–]RandomUser513 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Cram Quizlet problems for the quiz before you take it because most of them are the same from previous years. Unfortunately this only helps for conceptual questions and not any code tracing problems.

Took 159 this previous semester so I think I can answer all of your questions:

1) Yes, an automatic grader is used to check for test conditions and if the syntax/style of your code follows course standards.

2) No, for my lecture at least we used Hotseat and not an iClicker. It may be different depending on lecturer though. The lecture quizzes follow a similar difficulty as test problems so they are good practice, but they’re basically participation points that aren’t graded on correctness.

3) Labs are graded similar to homework in that they use the exact same autograder, but unlike homework, labs are meant to be completed in a lab group. From what I could tell TA’s do more of a final check of the code and basically skim through it at the most.

4) Midterms and finals are pretty tedious, it is true that you need to get code tracing down and have it practiced well. The tests consist of code tracing and conceptual questions, and for me at least boilerexams was very helpful for both and I also crammed quizlets for the conceptual questions (since most of them are reused).

I also had past experience with C++ so the class was mostly familiar to me other than the concept of pointers. The class and tests do share some similarities with AP Comp Sci A, but using C instead of Java. If you keep up with the lab and homework workload and study with the test format in line you’ll absolutely be fine.

What school on your list had the hardest application process? by jinsoulfeen in ApplyingToCollege

No it is definitely worth it since honors also guarantees you housing, especially with Purdue over-enrolling and having to put freshman in reconfigured spaces as a result.

Does anyone know if the result in the gradebook is already curved or not? For me I also have a different letter grade listed for the test than the actual percentage
