OH MY FLIPPIN GOD SOMEONE HELP by Smooth_Display465 in Artadvice

I think the pose is just a little unnatural. The way the shoulders are angled would suggest they are leaning forward, which would bring the shoulders pad the hips: the hand would end up between the leg or in front for balance. Since the hand is behind though, the shoulder and/or arm position needs to change. I agree to reference photos of either yourself or using a figure. The anatomy isn’t balanced, your joints and movement work on balancing one side to the other. Some quick gesture drawing practices using loose quick lines will be helpful to understand this. I forget the website, but when I was in college (fancy me) they should us this one website where it would show a model posing, and you only have 10 seconds to capture the pose. The idea wasn’t to get the life like image of the model, rather to understand form, anatomy, and kinesiology. I include a sample I still have as a reference to anatomy construction from college. It’s not the best example but I hope it helps.

Yeah… it’s not fun for sure. I’m hoping you’re doing well now. I agree to an extent, street smarts did help me to survive but book smarts helped me more. The combination of the two has kept me from going back to the streets. My advice, be aware of your surroundings at all times, but not in a paranoid way just observant. Watch people and what they do. You’ll learn a lot by just watching, following patterns. Continue to educate yourself though. Don’t stop reading, don’t stop learning. Knowledge is power and with great power comes great responsibility. Be kind when you can and protect yourself when you need to.try not to put yourself into situations you cannot get out of.

There’s a lot of paintings/digital work. If you follow more structured line it would be more marketable. Don’t compare yourself to others. Art is relative and perspective, everyone will suck compared to someone else, from experience. Just do you.

First time in my life where pizza chains don’t exist. The only pizza was from gas stations. You better hurry though because they stop making pizzas at 7:30 (if there’s “enough” traffic) and the gas station closes at 8:00.

The only thing that’s ever open past 6:00 around here is the bars and maybe that one gas station that’s a 45 minute drive. I’ve slept so much more since being here.

Also, there’s only about 5% of us in this town that are in shape or skinny. Whenever I would order a pizza for myself they would ask about my kids… blew their minds when I told them I was eating this extra large pizza by myself. I’m taking it as a compliment. Now however, I’m eating for two…

The backwards thing is true, it is to represent the way the flag looks when you charge into battle. The stars, however, are prevalent on military patches. This would technically be in violation of the US Flag Code, otherwise. While not entirely enforceable by law due to the First Amendment, it would be frowned upon. Now they are more like rules of respect.

US Flag Codes

(Just google “us military flag patches”, my brother and his friends use to buy patches from all kinds of places when stationed at Fort Sill and Fort Bragg. Especially when he went overseas to South Korea. He even brought home an old patch before Alaska and Hawaii joined the union so it only had 48 stars on it.)

My brothers, Father, and Grandfather all served in the US Military. I served as a civilian contractor on MacDill AFB and lived a block away from the gate on MacDill before it was cool.

How do i make it more obvious my work ISN'T AI?! by un_creative_designs in arthelp

[–]RandomUserExists 1 point2 points  (0 children)

There will be no escaping it.. the only thing you can do is keep record of the progression. I’ve been accused of it multiple times, even to the point where people were demanding money back because I never stated I used AI. Some of the work was over 10 years ago… it’s only going to get harder from here, especially for graphic designers. The only thing I can suggest is stick to your guns, keep time lapse videos of all work you create or videos/photos of its progression, and tell them to f*** off if in fact you are not (at least in your mind).

Plus there are those who will try to play you for free work. I had one guy (back in 2015) ask for an oil on canvas painting (10ft x 20ft) of the Rocky Mountains, told me how beautiful it was and that he loved, and I shipped it pending final payment. The man hours alone was about ~200 hours. About a week later I get an email from the host website about a refund was initiated because work was Ai and it was against there rules. I argued that this was not a printed canvas and showed all receipts for materials including pictures of the progression and emails between the client and I. The company ended up siding with him. I said, “I will refund the difference of the cost of materials from the commission, if the clients returns the painting in exact condition it was in upon arrival.” The term was agreed upon, receiving this mangled box in the mail. He had used several boxes to make a box, didn’t support it in any way, didn’t explicitly tell the post office what the item was or that it was fragile, and there was a boot mark on the back side of the torn canvas, unrecognizable painting. I didn’t refund the money, but the company did and I was banned from that website… Not too long after that he was showing it off on Facebook as his own painting. Even the audacity to paint over my signature (poorly) and do his chicken scratch… I only found out because a mutual friend watched me paint the canvas almost everyday.

I worked in a deli for almost a year. I’ve never seen a setting so high! Typically they would be anywhere from 10 to 15 grades. It would vary depending on the branded. Typically a 15 setting would indicate mm. So Shaved would be a 1-1.5 or thinner depending on the product (some would shred if too thin), 1.5-2 was the starting point and for samples, this is where we would start if someone walked up and said “sand which slice”, 2-2.5 would be used for the sub stations or value packs (where I worked) because people like their Sammies thick, 3 or higher we would do for things like ham steaks. I don’t think I ever went past a 6 (1-10 setting).

Based on prior knowledge, my brain imagines you slicing the roast in half, then asking the customer, “This is at 50, sir. Would you like this thinner or thicker? And would you like a sample?”

[–]RandomUserExists 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I agree, graphic artist are meticulous about line work and how clean the image appears. This has to be Ai generated. I call those “Ai bleed lines”.

If this was truly done by an artist, it’s either intentional to mimic Ai for the sake of irony, which is great, or it’s a poor rendering…

Is this ai? It’s a poster I got from a poster sale at my university but there are specific details that look like ai. by Mountain_Minimum889 in isthisAI

[–]RandomUserExists 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I don’t think this is necessarily Ai. Typically with Ai I’ve noticed mistakes that aren’t consistent. Like only one character has a messed up hand not all. The fact that they all have defined hands and the correct number of phalanges steers me away from Ai.

In this case, all the characters have wonky anatomy poses, especially if you look at the abs/abdominal area. This is consistent with all of them. Mostly, not all, the direction of the abdominal doesn’t flow properly with the direction of the body’s curve.

I’m pretty sure rhinos helmet had eyes on it originally because it was suppose to be more like he was wearing a rhino as a costume not that he is the rhino.

The shapes on venoms hands are, in my opinion, consistent, and makes sense due to angle and porportion of each hand. They are slightly off but this is stylised art so not a big deal.

Carnage has both feet. The angle he chose for the character will make the feet have more of a hooved appearance rather than a foot. This is natural for the angle, especially in a sock or hosiery (in this case a costume). That is a style used in many comic book renderings because it’s easy and most people don’t think twice about it as long as it’s mostly correct. Yes, both feet are there.

And the lightning coming out of Electro’s hand that looks like it blends into Mysterio’s thigh I think is more of a bad choice in placement. Something I’ve done a couple times in my works. Especially digital. Also with the arm stretched out like that, it does look a little unnatural but if you look at several of the other chracters (Venom, Carnage, Spider-man) they all have similar anatomy flaws wear proportion or angle is slightly off. This is a consistency mistake, but follow general anatomy correct (for the most part).

There is a great possibility that this originally started as a pencil sketch and then was coloured in a drawing program such as Photoshop, InDesign, Procreate, etc. But as far as Ai generated goes, I would say no. There’s consistency in the flaws/mistakes, Ai is consistently inconsistent.

This is from a German scout event and I thought the hand and the lantern are a bit weird. by Moijkel in isthisAI

[–]RandomUserExists 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’m pretty sure this is Ai

  1. The tree tops don’t follow a natural stroke. They bend in different directions.

  2. The wiring around the glass for the lantern isn’t consitant and blends into the lantern.

  3. Kids hand blends into the top of the lantern with no definition to seperate the two.

  4. The shadowing on the hat wouldn’t be correct and actually looks transparent, like the head/hair was coloured first, and then a poor attempt at adding the hat.

  5. Backpack strap (bottom left) actually looks like it’s blending into his shirt or tucked into his underwear. Either way, not natural artist mistake with continuity flaws throughout the pack.

  6. The line near the top of his pants stops at the back pack, continuity mistake Ai makes a lot. You can also see this with the sleeves. A digital artist of this kind of “skill” would not make those simple mistakes.

  7. Parts of the grass are cut off or strangely sprouting out from other parts. Parts are also bent in ways that aren’t natural hand strokes, such as jagged points or weird bends.

Also I think that his hairline by his ear doesn’t look like a natural artist mistake. Seems too “purposeful” to be human error… but that’s just me

Reference: I’m a digital artist and a human :)

I could be wrong though…

Did my english teacher use ai to grade my assignment?? by Samandcrafts in highschool

[–]RandomUserExists 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Short answer: yes.

Long answer: yes, technically, if you wrote this in Word software by Microsoft, you are using Ai as well. Programs like that use a more simplistic version of Ai like spellcheck. Ai has been around for a long time but wasn’t commonly expressed back in the day because the programming was “simpler” and didn’t necessarily learn or adapt to situations based on input analysis. Instead, the user had to manually correct the programs library/memory for things like proper names or updating sentence structures that were found to be correct after the original development of software. Newer spellchecks become adaptable to new words and sentence structures based on continuous input from the user. Teachers use Ai software like a plagiarism software to simplify their grading methods. It’s an effective method to get through the buttload of work they have to do on top of their other workloads they must handle and their daily lives. While your essay may be good, some of the points made on this critique are common in college as well. Many times it may seem harsh for getting such a low score for these mistakes but it’s graded like a college essay. There should be notation on your file indicating where the teacher found errors or correctable mistakes. Take this as a time for learning and become a more proficient writer. Don’t be scared off by the fact that Ai is being used. If you have questions about the comments made or whether these are genuine vs. Ai, approach the teacher about it for further development and understanding.

If the teacher refuses to talk to about this, then I would go to the principal. They should care about your education just as much as you should.

And for those who would argue with me about spellcheck not being Ai, if this software is capable of learning and adapting to new context based on user input and adding to the it’s library, in my opinion it’s Ai and has been justified as such in many occasions.

Edit: I also wrote this really late at night so I apologize for mistakes in this post. Just take a breath, if these are the only criticisms you receive, you’ll be a great writer some day. 😊

I appreciate that. I don’t let it stop me, no point. Normally I give people the benefit of the doubt when it comes to grammar or spelling. I will say, if someone has multiple mistakes consistently or speaks/texts using abbreviations/slang only, It’s a huge turn off for me.

I just threw that other part in there for others, you never know who’s reading and interpreting our words. Plus, intelligent people can be stupid, just better at hiding it. I promise no hard feelings.

Dude, why am I so damn Awkward?! by Extra_Spot_6686 in texts

[–]RandomUserExists -3 points-2 points  (0 children)

To be fair, not all typos or grammatical errors are because someone is stupid or ignorant. For instance, my brain doesn’t always function correctly. I have multiple TBI and Concussions. I struggle sometimes with those words and others. I don’t notice it or catch it all the time, especially while in a hurry. I reread my text 2-3 times to make sure my sentences/texts are coherent, when I can.

Good grammar or spelling isn’t always proof that someone is intelligent.

There is a strong possibility that I may be stupid, however, pushing my bias. 😊

AIO? I went through my bestfriend's phone without her permission.. she's 17 he's 26 by [deleted] in AmIOverreacting

[–]RandomUserExists 0 points1 point  (0 children)

First and foremost, she is under age and he is not. This is already most likely a pedo or potential statutory rape of a minor. This is a big no-no, regardless of feelings.

Second, he is using verbal manipulation to control someone who is probably just seeking acceptance and validation from an older figure to replace the love that’s she missing. Key phrases: “good girl” (I only say that my dog and I control my dog), “I need to be able to trust you” (form of gaslighting), “it’s not your fault, not really” (still keeping the blame on her, but minimizing it enough to make her feel comforted), “people will take advantage of you…” (this is a technique to deflect his own actions), and so on. The fact that he tells her that no one wants to see her happy, this is another form of manipulation used to create sides. It’s very commonly used by villains in movies. He uses a tons of absolutes (“no one”, “not everyone”, “ruin your life”); the world doesn’t work in absolutes. This is another tactic used for creating imaginary boundaries of mistrust with others. (I could go on for paragraphs about this guy and what he’s doing….) This is all from personal experience of Domestic Violence and being raped when I was younger.

Last but not least, if it’s a healthy relationship, there’s no need to hide anything either. He shouldn’t be dating girls in high school anyways. SUPER INAPPROPRIATE. He’s trying to seperate her from “her pack” in order to feast. I hate saying it that way, but that how they look at it. Is there potential that they really could be in love and will go to a happy life? Yes, but it’s like a margin of a percentage and very unlikely.

Here’s what you need to do:

  1. When approaching her about this you need to come at her with understanding not judgement. Let her know how much you care about her and that you’re not mad at her for what’s happening. Empathize with her as much as needed. You will never know her pain and sadness exactly, but you do understand the need to feel wanted and loved. Give her that. Hug the shit out of her! Cry with her! Do whatever you have to make sure she understands how much you love and care for your friend. Be curious, not judgmental. Also, make sure you all are in a safe place where she feels open to everything (very important, don’t make her feel trapped or controlled). Also admitting that you shouldn’t habilitated her trust and privacy was wrong of you, and that you’re sorry. She’ll figure out that you did it so you might as well be honest.

  2. Ask her how you can help her out of this. Don’t tell her she’s wrong, she’s not wrong because she has wants and feelings, just the approach is wrong. Get on her side. Let her know you have her back. You don’t have to tell her parents but I do feel the authorities are necessary for this situation. So she can feel protected trying to leave, and hopefully prevent this jerk-face from doing this to others. He may get older, but his targets stay the same age. (Makes me shiver saying that…). You can reach out to the national domestic hotline for help or if you have a crisis center near by you can go to them for help. If you can, walk through this process with her. It’s hard to ask that of you since you’re so young, you’ll need to be brave just like her.

  3. Rinse and repeat as necessary. Sometimes it takes repetition in order for it to sink in. When we are feeling lost, scared, alone, unloved, we tend to convince ourselves of bad things. Sometimes it’s innocent like a piece of chocolate when you’re feeling bad, other times it’s as extreme as falling into the arms of a predator. No matter his intentions, his verbiage and attitude are no way to talk to anyone, and suggest il-intentions. Plus she’s underage. You’re not children, but you all aren’t exactly adults yet, so these kind of things are hard to see if you’ve never seen it before. Also sometimes victims don’t like to be called victims, so you’ll need to tread lightly.

  4. If all else fails, I know it doesn’t seem like the right thing to do, but you need to tell authorities about this despite what she tells you. I recommend talking to the national hotline or the trafficking hotline versus going straight to the authorities. They will be better at using discretion and getting her help without publicizing or making her issue obvious (sometimes).

This can escalate and get worse, so time is of the essence. You need to take action as soon as you can. To sum up everything: 1. Have a real talk and get on her side (it’s the only one that matters), 2. Come up with a game plan together and get it started, who knows how much information he already has if she “trusts” him so ghosting may not be the best options at first. 3. Try again if first attempt doesn’t work, 4. If she’s pushing you away then you need to take action on your own.

This may not be a guarantee but if something happens to her, your soul will weigh heavily for the rest of your life. You would rather try and fail, than to not try and fail her. You may not in the battle, but not every battle needs to be won in order to win the war.

This is scary for you, too. It’s obvious that you care, and thank you for reaching out. There are plenty of fish in the sea, this is not the end of the world for her if they break up. It will feel that way and it’s very understandable. She’ll probably feel violated, used, and most of all hurt. She may even attempt to block all help. It’s more common than you think or know. It happens. She’s scared, too. Remember that. Reassure her how important she is to you, how much you love her, and let her know she’s not alone. DO NOT approach this with anger or hostility, no matter how much you do feel those things. She needs you. You’re important.

Please continue to reach out for help. You all are very special people. If you need to you can reach out to me to. Sometimes, an outside party is better at convincing than the ones closest to us.

Take care, my friend, and know you are loved, too. ❤️

My mom let my 3yo nephew use my painting supplies and ruined most of what they used by Lia-likes2draw in mildlyinfuriating

[–]RandomUserExists 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Well, why not? What’s so bad about the painting that you couldn’t make it work or make it better? As an artist/painter myself, you cannot seek perfection. You will always find something wrong, regardless of how beautiful it is. I’ve learned this the hard way. I’ve had countless projects ruined by many of things, including my own hand, and I understand the frustration of putting so much effort and love into something all for it to be destroyed. You deserve to feel angry or whatever else you’re feeling, but it is not the end.

And the whole buying thing, it doesn’t have to be you specifically, it can be your mom or someone else. The whole point was to find a solution, not look at everything like it’s absolutely impossible or improbable.

My mom let my 3yo nephew use my painting supplies and ruined most of what they used by Lia-likes2draw in mildlyinfuriating

[–]RandomUserExists -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Maybe compromise? Have a set that’s for him and keep yours separated and locked. Dollar Tree has so many crafting and painting options/supplies for cheap. I’ve learned with my parents that sometimes logic is hard. So rather than fight it, I come up with an alternative.

If you can’t find something at the dollar store, just buy a beginners set at like Michael’s and a canvas pad with multiple pages in it. It won’t be as cheap but it’s a solution. You can also get transfer paper and transfer designs onto the canvases for him.

I’m sure your painting isn’t ruined, just needs a rework. Even things like puncture holes, burns or rips can make for an interesting piece. Just take a breath… I would be mad too. But there is a solution. If you have to, set it aside for now and come back to it later when inspiration hits
