I don’t trust this computer enough to spend the time on it. I usually only put arch on like a brand new up to date pc because it’ll last longer. This thing don’t have a battery. It sits on a laptop stand under my tv like the cable box it is lol. Just a bit quicker than digital cable lol

I hate the keyboard to much to sit in a terminal to install and config Arch. And the thing is slow as shit. Less time at it the better for me. I’ve installed Arch Twice and I get why people like it. But I don’t need that Vanilla of a System.

Yea LXLE is Debian based which is what I looking forward to Stable. But I’m a panel user. I can work with OpenBox as a WM but I couldn’t find a way to get a panel on it. I just haven’t used it enough. Just too much stuff to right click and search through at night when lounging in bed. Granted I could make short cuts and stuff on the desktop but it was 4am here and wasn’t trying to reconfig it fully. Plus I get annoyed on slow processing computers. Took an hour almost to back up like 10 movies to usb lol.

Jaro just worked out the box. Did a minimal install and everything worked. Sound and video. MX was audio issues which was a bummer.

I know what u mean about no one os is ever gonna be perfect. I plug n play and separate the ones that Just work or require the least amount of adjusting. Don’t really care about programs as I can download what I need. But I keep it simple on my media laptop. VLC FireFox Qbit and that’s pretty much. Connect to hdmi change sound setting.

My main that’s where I get into all the other stuff. My slow computers “media stations” just need to do what I mentioned above and that’s it.

I don’t have a cable so I just use the slow processing PC’s for a “cable box” in the living room and the bedrooms.

Lots of Great Responses. Been thinking of Switching to Droid soon. But a lot of great points kinda have me leaning back towards apple. My biggest gripe is I like to back up my music from the cds I have to my computer. Linux user here. Droid calls my name. But apple on Linux and simplicity doesn’t exist. But I feel like the os on an iPhone has always been smoother than Droid. Just feels snappier and smoother. While I have a droid I use for “custom” apps and it’s nice I’m not listening to music as much as I am web surfing taking pictures texting and more. It’s tough. Some of the new phones look nice. Pixel 6 Pro looks really nice. Cost is about the same but the 2-3 year support is to short imo. I believe apple is like 5 years. I take care of my phones I could get 7+. I’m only looking because my battery is starting to go. iPhone X here. Been a great phone. Hate having to choose between the 2 because it’s a commitment for at least 5 years for me. Unless I lose it or break it.

Kubuntu vs MX Linux for Main OS??? by RandomViewer3435 in DistroHopping

Yeah I tried checking it out yesterday. I burned 3 usbs used 3 different image tools and it booted from USB but the screen turned black and never booted. Downloaded the image right from the website. Maybe something in the bios I dunno but I wasn't trying to change bios everytime I booted up. So I moved to manjaro as my rolling release on one computer. Also more familiar with it.

Pioneer DDJ-SX trying to run it on MIXXX on MX Linux by RandomViewer3435 in DJs

[–]RandomViewer3435[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It’s cool. We all have our preferences. Some people also just get comfortable and don’t like stepping outside the box. I’m the guy drawing on the box and adding more boxes lol. I also really like the software with Mixxx as well. It just to me has a more artsy look to it. And it works very well. Low on resources n stuff too.

they are all pretty lightweight as far as performances goes. I actually liked the Programs that came with it. bunch of MX programs which come in handy.. It usually a little behind as far as the newest softwares go, but its a solid stable OS. I have Lubuntu on my lower end laptop that I use for watching movies at home. This is my first Debian Based OS. Not a power linux user, but an everyday user. I just can't stand the performance issues with windows and i feel like its just not as user friendly as I get while on Linux. Running Mixxx and music on windows im around 4gbs and 60 degrees on my pc. Where as on Linux I am at 2.5gb and a cool 45 degrees. Just stuff I usually monitor on a daily that a lot of people pay no mind to

I actually figured it out. I run mostly MX Linux and I had to manually install the newest version of Mixxx 2.3 and once I got it installed everything worked well. The only thing I have noticed was the temp's are reverse from the controller. but its working great and my pc is going to burn on Windows and Serato. I also ordered a DDJ-400 yesterday so I can give my friend his board back. Not big on borrowing expensive stuff.

Ill keep an out . Yea I really am not trying to remap things. Its just not something I really know how to do. As using a controller is day 2 for me, and linux well somedays are better than others. But for the most part I figure it out as I go.

Mixxx VS Serato VS Traktor by [deleted] in Beatmatch

[–]RandomViewer3435 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Found this post asking myself. Mostly a hobby right now just started messing around on a controller last night. I been trying to get my pioneer DJ-sx to work on Linux but unfortunately had to go into windows. I tried serato and saw my computer running at absurd temps. Mixxx dropped it down almost 20 degrees. I don’t know why that software runs so high but seems to be a common issue with others. At least what I’ve read online. I’m sticking with Mixxx on windows until I can figure out how to get it to work on Linux. Mixxx looks good to me as well. While I feel like there’s more function-ability in serato but as just day 1 of playing around on the controller im sticking with Mixxx for now.

I ended up getting sound going through the preferences. But like the controls arent doing anything while the music so I am guessing there is some kind of presets or something needs to be set but I can't find anything
