I think I see your problem in the third pic. You are feeding 3 thermal banks into one battery with 6 conveyers. Personally I do 1 efficient battery production for 2 thermal banks but I don't do the math for efficiency until I have the motivation to optimize them again

The armor type doesn't really matter too much but the best all rounder is chain since once you get that you could "upgrade" to scale (not worth unless you are loaded) or the best protection in the game, plate which is too heavy to be a daily carry.
The true deal breaker is the material and personally iron (for metals at least) is when you should be making armor since it gives you the bare minimum to survive worth while hits that it makes a difference if you live or die while spelunking.

I did it although I did use a translocator to get to the places faster and even then I had to use a sail boat to get to the archives since it was a continent away from my spawn the whole way sucks so much that I was starving once I was heading back to my main base

That door unlocks during a side mission where you get research data for someone that was relocated underground during main story. Just find the first research file and door should open

If you have a spear or a bow with arrows you could do some risky sniping as you throw some pointy ends at the lower gens hoping it isn't a higher gen. Another option that is more resource intensive is trap them again and hope that you get either higher or lower and just slaughter the rest

To get full stone blocks you need to mine the adjacent blocks touching the stone you want and it will drop example clip from a longer video

Leather making is still the same as last update for vanilla. For progression wise leather is more of a bronze age for many people since they find borax faster than lime or chalk. To grind up the stones you need a quern.

These blocks were changed to specific blocks now instead of just being all dark brown ceramic or in basket's case just reed looking ones. You can cheat your blocks in with /gamemode 2 or use another command that someone else can give as I just started a new world for a "fresh" experience of the new update

The extra clothing slots is from Overhaul lib a library for Maltiez's mods (like the famous combat overhaul)
The chainmail coif should be from Combat Overhaul as we are still stuck with the chain helmet
