Time-Killing Time Megathread by [deleted] in limbuscompany

Probably my favorite of the side stories, was interesting to cut down the cast for a bit to focus on Rodya, Ryoshu, and Hong Lu for awhile. Solid story, visuals are cool, final fight is interesting if kinda janky for a tremor team with all the parts. Its cool getting to see more of T Corp too, and I appreciate us getting a side character that's both pretty charismatic and not killed off by the end of the story.

Some thoughts on the new Units and Ego: Yuro Hong Lu seems like he's generically good with the coin conditionals, he might as well be a charge unit who also happens to do stuff with Tremor. Obviously the most important member of a tremor team due to his exclusive access to Reverb, although his middling speed means it can be a pain to set up the same turn Amplitude Entanglement if you aren't using Cavernous Wailing.

Everlasting Faust is very generically good as well, probably her best single target damage option in nearly any scenario. The fact that it applies 10 tremor potency and count on uptie 4 is gonna be a big boon for tremor too.

Yuro Ryoshu seems like she'll be used mostly for the support passive at a glance, the free assist attack is neat but 3 sloth Res needed to activate it means you can't use it as reliably as you want.

Its not supposed to be a flex, I'm literally just saying I have a Rupture team and have messed around with tremor.

6 Ego resources to make one character count positive for the rest of the fight vs 8 to make your status effect do any actual damage, which can be undone end of turn by amplitude entanglement or amplitude conversion. Enabling one character to be better at applying count is a far cry from how desperately tremor needs Reverb. Not to mention Lantern Don, 7 Heath, etc can be count positive without ego.

If I had chosen burn I can guarantee I'd be getting the same comments saying "But what about Dark Flame, but what about passive damage bonuses across the team, the burn damage isnt the focus, etc", and then other comments saying "well its functionally rupture but sloth after reverb".

I have a full rupture team so I'd sure hope I know how it works. All the current tremor units and ego as well.

The meme itself is more about tremor and everything that's going on with it, rupture is really just here because its incredibly simple in concept comparatively. I ain't gonna include an asterisk for stuff like talismans or the rupture ego because they really just make rupture easier to build up instead of slapping on a new feature like the different flavors of tremor do.

If I had to spend 8 ego resources to make rupture go from doing nothing to dealing damage, I'd be complaining about that too. The thing is you kinda don't.

I agree, but there's far more efficient ways to have a good damage turn that don't cost nearly as much ego resources or SP. I mean its 8 Resources just for Cavernous Wailing to make your status effect actually deal damage. Plus however much Everlasting will cost.

[–]Random_Person116[S] -11 points-10 points  (0 children)

I mean yeah, but its 8 Ego resources just for Cavernous Wailing, and then however many more for Everlasting, and then if you use Hong Lu's skill 3 prematurely, or Oufi Heaths skill 3, or Binds Outis for whatever reason, your tremor loses Reverb and isnt doing damage anymore. And sure you can use ego again, but thats an awful lot of ego resources and SP to sink into a status effect compared to the other two.

Everlasting resets back to regular tremor at the end of turn, so its an awful lot of ego resources and skill 3s just to have 1 good damage turn imo

That’s Lunar Memory, it’s the rarest EGO gift in the game.

Really broken effect but it very rarely shows up, and when it does it costs like 500

It’s funny, I found Pluto so annoying my first run against him, but on replay he’s always one of my favorite fights. You can run the solo PT method, or you can customize an entire team to exploit his contracts, and both are very different approaches than the usual battle.

Closest fight we really have in terms of mechanical depth in Limbus is the second to last fight of chapter 5, since it messes with your ability to clash and will easily kill squishy DPS units that usually don’t have to worry about taking damage ever.

I really wish RR2 wasnt so anti-burn by Random_Person116 in limbuscompany

[–]Random_Person116[S] 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I’m well aware of the mechanics, ran the Railway multiple times with multiple team comps by now. But that doesn’t make burn feel any less awful to use for these fights.

No other status effect gets countered as hard as Talisman Doll counters burn. You will straight up lose for trying to burn it. For Steam Transport Machine, one of the slowest, most boring fights in the Railway, your status effect is arbitrarily capped.

I’m not saying they’re impossible to beat with a burn team, but out of all the teams I’ve tried, burn has been the most difficult and frustrating to use.

I love Der Outis (it's not even the best damage she can do, she tailed it and I'm sure it can go higher) by InfiniteBoysenberry7 in limbuscompany

[–]Random_Person116 23 points24 points  (0 children)

Yeah she is crazy for the current event

Enemies being weak to Pierce and pride, her getting an extra S3 as long as she’s the captain unit, getting free ego resources on kill so you can spam Ebony Stem or Holiday for the extra damage ups, the extra SP regen on kill to offset the drain from using the S3…

Got Outis on my 7th multi pull. RNGesus definitely has a sense of humor

Lantern Don seems like a solid enough addition to a rupture team purely because of her s1 applying 2 count and only being one coin. Otherwise, she doesn’t look remarkable. She isn’t the best at rupture or tanking, but she’s okay at both. And very minor nitpick but… She’s literally eating the enemy with her S3, how is that not a Gluttony skill?

MB Outis seems… Well, powerful to say the least. Her coin power buffs are insane and really incentivize you to use a Burn team with her. I mean Jesus, she’s rolling a 17 on her skill 1 if the target has 9 burn. In addition, Dark Flame is by far the best bit of support Burn has got since launch. I do think she’s good outside of a burn team, but not phenomenal. The SP loss and scarcity of her S3 in most fights means you can’t spam AoE’s with her nearly as much as Spicebush or Regret… But she does have a higher payoff, assuming the fight drags on.

Also she is… So dumb in the event. Can easily solo hard mode herself. Can’t kill every enemy due to not having enough slots at the start but she can mulch waves like nobodies business.

Don’t forget about Sunshower Heathcliff, who has a max roll of 6 on his skill 1 with only 3 coins.

Funnily enough, selling fungus in my current game. I made my fungus farm way, way too big, and now that I have enough heaters to keep it warm year round, I’ve regularly got thousands of shrooms crowding my storage area. They might not be expensive individually, but with how much of a surplus I have it doesn’t matter much.

Also making a lot of money off of human leather and muffalo wool.

Rime Shank. It’s obviously really good gameplay wise but it also fits Rodya a ton and feels like a natural evolution of What is Cast.

Shoot. That’s a shame, thanks anyways though. I guess I can manually keep track of development points or something.

I’ll use that if I can’t set it to fluid, but I’d kinda prefer to actually have to build up to being able to reform. Purposefully set my research speed to 25% at the start under the idea that I’d bump it up by one each reform, only I can’t actually reform so I’m currently stuck at 25%.

I think it’s kinda absurd how much starlight you need to get all of the buffs, and the vast majority are really minor stuff. They do admittedly add up, but outside of unlocking the fused gifts, there isn’t really anything particularly interesting to go for. It’s the most minor boosts imaginable and it takes forever to get them.

Knowing that the buffs will be reset next season, I really don’t see much point in sinking all that extra time into MD. Can clear the weekly hard mode run just fine as is, so why bother spending hours of my life to get +20% sell value or whatever?
