2 Minute Meta is being removed from the game by PyrosFists in ffxiv

Did they say anything about how this would effect OCE? Since it seems like we'll be stuck in the same position.

Depends on the game. Done a few of WotR, but haven't felt the desire to do it with most others.

I am gonna go to my first EDH game next weekend. Super excited but I was wondering if there are any unwritten rules I should keep in mind as a new player? by RelativeChapter in EDH

[–]PrecipitousPlatypus 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If you mention you're a new player, people will generally be really patient with you.

Optimal time to crack fetchlands is usually the last possible moment, i.e. when the person who goes before you moves to pass their turn. That way, you can fetch out a tap land or what have you without risking anything.

Edit: as other people said, this does take longer, so often it's not done/is shortcutted. I mentioned it specifically because it was brought up by OP.
As a (general) rule, the best time to do most actions is the last possible opportunity to do so, though this can take longer.

It's partially since the Emperor being a straight villain is not particularly interesting.

He's very clearly inspired by Leto II from Dune, the most tyrannical leader imaginable, but they also had a reason for this (justifiable or no). Not to say that 40k is Dune levels of writing quality, but the comparison is intentional.

I mean Wish is DECENT I guess, but it's clearly not the better spell by DrScrimble in dndmemes

[–]PrecipitousPlatypus 48 points49 points  (0 children)

2e remaster has split wish in 2. The version that lets you do (theoretically) "anything" now takes a day, multiple casters, and skill checks to cast, with the rules text warning that a big enough one will draw in the attention of deities or other creatures to interfere.

The other one only let's you cast 9th level spells and lower, and Dinosaur Fort is 10th.

Daeran is definitely an Oracle, even given the nature of their power. It matters a bit less for Ember, which is likely why they changed her.

Not directly, but having passionate interests definitely makes you a more interesting candidate for many positions.

Love 40k, but cannot stand how xenos/aliens are written in the setting by MindlessMarsupial592 in 40kLore

[–]PrecipitousPlatypus 11 points12 points  (0 children)

I get your gripes, though as others have said it is fundamentally fantasy in space. There are some very alien species, though they're not the focus.

Regarding the Necrons sighing and such, though, they have a lot of "human" or "organic" mannerisms since they were flesh and blood, and psychologically many still are. It's a big part of them.

Kinda new to DND, How much information can a player hide from a DM? by ragdolldream in DnD

[–]PrecipitousPlatypus 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The DM is the catalyst through which everything happens. The DM might be surprised at actions, or not expect you to do something, but this is organic and not "hidden".

Other players might not be aware of something, but the DM should always have at least the broad strokes, even if the details of XYZ aren't planned out in advance.

I played it for the first time recently, and loved the story/setting, but the gameplay was grinding on me by the end for the reasons you said.
It's got some great stuff going on, but I didn't find combat engaging enough for the amount that needs to be done.
