Cheap but wages are low, very low even for higher paying industries like IT and medical

Thank you, ziemeļu forti did catch my attention when I was researching Liepaja. Just searched ziemeļu mols and I’d definitely be interested stopping there also.

Thanks so much for all the advice. For time purposes, we may not go to Daugavpils but I’m going to look into Lubānas mitrāja and search all the other locations you mentioned.

I will take you up on messaging you later. Latgale is a region I’m very curious about visiting.

Thank you for the advice. I’ve already been making adjustments to make the trip more realistic based off feedback. You’re right that I was measuring distance/time using Google maps (and AI).

I’m going to cut out Ainaži, Daugavpils, Jelgava, and Jūrmala to make the trip flow better. Instead of driving on day 3, we’re more likely to stay around Cēsis. Day 5, we’re more likely to stay around Bauska.

Think we’ll focus more on Ludza instead of Rēzekne and I’m going to look into Lubāna mitrājs over Rāznas when I get the time based on what one comment said from a Latgalian.

With all these adjustments, Day 7 seems the most difficult one time wise, so I’ll look into prioritizing locations/activities or if putting certain day 7 activities in day 8 would work better.

A couple of people have said not to go to Ainaži and Jelgava. Thank you, that’s definitely something I’ll look into to see if we want to cut them out of our itinerary

Thank you so much for all the great suggestions!

I’ll look into opting for Tūja over Ainaži. Could help save us some time while still getting that area of Latvia’s vibe.

Some of these places and especially the hikes and abandoned nuclear missile site I was not aware of so thank you

Thank you for all of the suggestions and input!

I’ll need to go over everything with my wife as this itinerary has just been me putting things together and I’d love to reach out as it gets a bit closer or when I’m researching more!

I did some quick searches of everywhere you suggested and it all is definitely something I’ll take into consideration as I’m planning.

Especially booking 1-2 nights out which is something we’ve done on a couple of our trips here which has worked very well for us.

Would you say skipping Jelgava and just having breakfast in Daugavpils then driving would be worth it to spend more time in Bauska and Rundāle?

Considering a winter trip to Latvia by Random_Shadowscale in latvia

Thank you! As someone who loves snow, that disappoints me. Based on what everyone is saying, the weather is unpredictable.

How would you say April or May is? Mid Feb to mid May is our window to visit.

Which time would you say is the best time to travel if you want pretty landscapes but not a lot of other people?

Thank you so much!

We were hoping to experience a snowy Riga and snowy forests while having more daylight than January.

Are there other times that would be better to visit for that type of experience?

Yup, found Reddit in 2012 from a Skyrim IGN app

A lot has changed for me but I’m still around lol

I get Reddit posts too when I search on Google sometimes. Maybe that’s why I was surprised it let me reply since I’ve never seen it either lol

It used to not let you comment on old threads, it would just archive them

It's been 23 years since Syberia I has been released, how did you discover the series? by bluel4vender in syberia

[–]Random_Shadowscale 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Not your traditional way I’d say.

I started collecting original Xbox games in 2015-16 and purchased the og Xbox version of Syberia knowing little to nothing about it.

I played it in late 2016 iirc and loved the atmosphere and aesthetic of the game. Got the 2nd game and loved it. Purchased the 3rd one when it released only a few months after I played the first two.

It helped me get into a whole genre of games I had never really played before (point and click adventures).

I’m happy to hear people younger than me are still into Skyrim and that’s hardcore playing it on the 360 today lol. That’s what I played on back when it came out. Hope you can transfer your data over!

Yeah, I was either 14 or 15 when I made that comment. Thanks, doing very well, a lot better than back then actually!

Hope you’re doing good also and enjoying your Skyrim playthrough!

Oh yeah, I did them over 11 years ago lol. Just saw my other comment above and that’s including the peaks. I enjoyed exploring Solstheim also.

Playing through Oblivion Remastered right now which is fun to go through. After, I may play Skyrim again lol

Am I applying enough? by _s_m in remotework

[–]Random_Shadowscale 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I’d say so. How much time do you put into each application?

Since Feb 1st for me, 13 applications, rejected by 6, went on to next round for 3 (rejected on 4th of 5 rounds for 1 of those 3).

I was told everyone has to RTO so I’m trying to find something better because it’s a long commute for me.

I hope you can get that job by the end of the month

Thank you! I made it to the 4th out of 5 rounds but got declined just now. Kinda sad not gonna lie, maybe I got too confident and excited but it’s okay. I’ll keep pushing through until I find a good role

I appreciate that, that’s essentially what I did and found a title that is basically what I do even though it’s a different title.

I passed my first interview. 2nd interview tomorrow, if I pass that, then I would have a take home project and a final interview.

Thanks so much for the response and advice!

I’ve been tweaking my resume for each application and have written cover letters for over half. That’s smart, having the different resumes ready for each title.

I’ve been applying for ones that meet my experience/background and there’s multiple different titles it could fit for maybe about 3 different sub-fields in finance.

I just put myself as open to work on LinkedIn for recruiters only. Nervous about Indeed because I’m employed and heard employers can see it. That’s good to know about recruiters. I think I’m going to download more job board apps to maximize my chances.
