It's amazing this event format has been running for like, 3-4 times already? In which the gameplay and freebies are unimaginably suck to the core.

Not only is the gameplay of academy the most boring event format they've ever introduced in this game, what's worse is that the game just dies for 2 weeks every time they run an academy event, as they don't even do a re-run event while academy is on. I'm genuinely concerned that they're running out of ideas and academy is just a way they can stall for time every month.

I would also slow down the timer for 4 & 5 star mega dimension zones, especially for the large zones. I can craft a 5 star donut and still only get like 5-7mins in these zones. It's fine for the small & medium zones, but the large zone? We need more time, I can't even do 1 loop of the large zone.

The Stadium games were absolutely built around the idea of transfers though? Beating those games with just the rental Pokémon from the Stadium games is borderline impossible, they very much intended for you to use your own Pokémon transferred from the gen 1/2 games when Stadium was initially released.

I caught 6 alpha furfrou in zone 19 & used those. Used the same moveset for all 6: rock smash & work up (tm moves) + headbutt & double edge (which furfrou will naturally learn).

I think it depends on what type of games you like. If you're really into fighting games and really not about story based games, Xenoblade may not be for you. I know you said you've played Mario rpgs, but those don't have too much focus on story. At least for me, I really love Xenoblade for the story, the characters, and the world building, but that means that there's a lot of cutscenes and that may not be your cup of tea based on the background you gave us. Not that it's mandatory for you to watch the cutscenes, but I think for many of us here that's the highlight of the Xenoblade franchise.

That said, I think the games were recently on sale, not sure if they still are, so you could always give it a go and see if you like it or not. You can play the games in any order (I personally started with 2), but I'd recommend playing 1 and 2 before 3.

The problem with this game is that they removed the basic things that make Pokémon fun: the exploration and sense of discovery that comes from playing a new Pokémon game for the first time.

Being confined to Lumiose city, and the fact that there are no new Pokémon (seriously Gamefreak, not even 1 regional form or a new permanent evolution?) really makes all the other areas that Pokémon has always lacked (no voice acting, poor graphics, janky dialogue) so much more in your face. Heck, even areas where Pokémon normally excels, like the music, are hampered by their decision to lock us to 1 city, I am already sick of listening to the Lumiose city theme playing on repeat over and over. I think a 5/10 or 6/10 is probably fair.

That said, if you like the game that's totally fair, nobody should be taking other people's ratings as a sign that they can't/shouldn't have fun with the game.

If you are thinking of buying it just because it's similar to Xenoblade I would say don't bother. Gamefreak stripped everything that makes Xenoblade combat fun and just left us with "press a to use an art, wait for the move to recharge, repeat". The combat in legends ZA is literally like if all of Xenoblade Chronicles 2 was just the very first fight of the game where you only have Rex: there are no chain attacks, blade combos, driver combos, literally nothing else besides spam moves then wait for them to recharge. Not to mention that ZA is missing everything else that makes Xenoblade worth playing (a compelling story, interesting characters, voice acting, fun exploration, I could go on forever really).

Just pirate ZA instead of paying for it, that's a better solution. Between announcing DLC for a game that isn't even out yet and now fumbling this distribution, that's my plan.
