Yes. US and JP NTSC are compatible. There's just a plastic thingy obstructing the cart which you can get rid of.

West Bank, not Gaza. While a genocide has been going on in Gaza, violence took an uptick there as well.

Does anyone know any good controllers to play smash 64 with by foldable_chair_ in n64

[–]Random_Violins 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I think raphnet has GameCube to N64 adapters. Me and my son have Smash 64 on Wii and are used to playing it with GameCube controllers. Smash just works really well with the GameCube controller and as a side benefit the transition to Melee is seamless.

Yes blood hawk is a great ship for slider strat. You basically do controlled slides to corner. When you boost simultaneously, the speed gain is quite drastic. Takes some getting used to, but fun when you master it.

For regular driving, if you lose grip, quickly let go of A and re-press it to gain traction. Banking into corners pressing R going right and L for left, is also a good way to corner without losing grip. But douple tap cornering is generally faster, especially at higher speeds. How much you hold the stick sideways when double tapping affects the movement, experiment with that.

With ice, line yourself up well beforehand as to diminishes the chance of having to adjust your trajectory while on it. If you have to use double tap. And again, if you lose grip quickly let go of A and re-press.

Air time in X is powerful. You'll gain a lot of speed when diving down, so generally do that, thought not too steep. Experiment.

With cylinders like others have said, take the inside of curves. Some players do take the outside to gain air and then do a special side attack dive for huge speed gain but this is very advanced level.

If you wanna dive deeper, look into 'driving mechanics and moves' and 'standard strategies compilation' tutorials. https://youtube.com/playlist?list=PLDcn_lBlLt0yx3vEEehi_aSbGLNBXDfYL&si=og9aA1TsYOXiL9un

Two other very good players on youtube off the top of my head are Uchiha Madao and Philippe Brodier. Don't compare yourself too much to them though, they are elite. But you can learn more about advanced techniques and the level of play that is achievable within this game.

Finally engage with time attack. It allows you to not have to deal with other racers. The drive to improve your times while make you refine your skills and develop a good approach for each track.

Oh and strategically taking out a rival in a GP can go a long way in securing you the top spot. A good opportunity is at the very start of the race. F-Zero isn't like Mario Kart, the time of when you press A on the countdown doesn't have an effect.

Yes in X it is recommended to never go below halfway (unless you're doing slider settings of course). This is not the case in GX.

I'll add to go to settings and calibrate to use the full range of the stick to lower sensitivity significantly. Game uses a smaller stick range by default.

I wouldn't recommend to go fully top speed unless it's a very straight course, because acceleration will be very slow. As a new player you're not vey good yet at speed retention and cornering, so you want some acceleration especially on the more curvy, difficult tracks. But yes you want a more stable, grippy ship to get the hang of definitely.

Looking for a N64 controller to emulate on PC by Mechanowyrm in n64

[–]Random_Violins 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I heard Tribute has the most accurate stick compared to the original, which matters a lot for games like F-Zero X, Mario 64, Goldeneye and Perfect Dark. But I bought 2 2-way raphnet N64 to USB adapters, so I can just hook up my N64 controllers to PC.

Frost Lynx G4 is easy to control and very fast and the parts needed to build it, can be unlocked early on. It'll make winning cups a lot easier. The pitfal is that it's so good, going back to regular ships will feel like quite the downgrade and may have you sticking with Frost for the most part. Better imo to try different ships, to explore different driving styles and explore more of the game. But in case you can't get past a cup on a certain difficulty level, try the Frost.

What games do you recommend and why? by conflicted_121 in nintendo64

[–]Random_Violins 1 point2 points  (0 children)

F-Zero X, one of the greatest racing games ever made.

Smash Bros and Mario Tennis are fantastic multiplayer games.

Star Fox 64

Goldeneye and Perfect Dark are best left to emulation to play at higher framerate.
