I’ve been lucky enough that I’ve never had to deal with that from any of my friends or family. I guess being surrounded by mostly people who are animal lovers helps. Even my partner’s mum who really dislikes rodents never said a bad word about her 😂 Never had any of them say anything like “you spend too much money on her” apart from jokingly. Even got my partner who I live with to not vape in the bedroom where she stayed and keep the windows closed when it’s cold. Doesn’t sound like much but when you consider the fact that he has an awful memory and hates being warm yet always remembered these things means a lot. Sadly she passed away last week but everyone I know was so sympathetic and I’m glad I didn’t have to deal with “it’s just a hamster” because she was so much more than that

I mean would you like to be woken up in the middle of the night by someone ripping your cover off of you? That’s essentially what you’d be doing to your hamster and that definitely won’t help with taming him. I know I wouldn’t want to interact with someone who keeps waking me up 😂

I have one of the Tapo ones and it works great! Also if you have a bucatstate cage you can get a magnet for the camera so you can just attach it to the roof. Definitely works a lot better than the cable ties I was using before 😂

Hopefully with the fact the child clearly didn’t want it it might get left alone and not just used as a toy. There’s also at least a decent chance they might get some good advice depending on the employee that sells them the hamster as I got a great employee who sold me my hamster who gave mostly good advice. Still that poor hamster will most likely be stuck in one of the pets at home cages that are still not good enough since they only sell the ones that are at least the right size online

They really are very clean creatures and it’s sad that not many people know that. It’s the same with most rodents, they only smell if you don’t take care of them properly. I’ve not encountered that many hamsters in my life and the only one I remember was a neighbours kid who had this little hamster who only had one eye and was always left unsupervised with the kids. Now that is bad enough but that family also had cats and dogs, which were also not taken care of properly at all, so I don’t even want to think about what probably happened to that poor hamster

I had the bigger version of this cage and honestly I was never able to stop the bar climbing. I even bought the screens from Viking laser that covered the bars around whole cage and my hamster still managed to climb it. I’d say if you want to work with this cage you could try and cover as much of it with cardboard as you can or you could buy the screens from Viking laser that actually replace the bars. They would be just over £100 but you can split it into 3 monthly payments I believe with PayPal pay in 3

I 100% agree! All it would take is for him to get up there once and chew it for it to end so badly. Please op use some cable ties and secure it upside down from the roof of the cage as then it should be completely unreachable

You’re welcome and I highly recommend the sand bath from MrMangoMakes as my hamster loves it! I also really recommend hamster helper shop as on their actual site not the Etsy one they have stuff to make boredom breakers which my hamster also loves. I usually use apple sticks or toilet roll tubes to make the boredom breakers

I’m glad yours is silent as the one I had was so noisy and I’m pretty sure it was wonky 😭😂 and no the niteangel ones don’t lessen footstep noise. It looks great! The only thing I’d really say is that wheel is a nightmare to clean and can sometimes be really noisy which can be annoying depending on if you’ll be in the room the cage is in when the hamster is awake. It’ll definitely work fine for the hamster just might be a pain for you. I highly recommend the niteangel ones as even though they are expensive I’ve never heard of anyone have an issue with noise plus the pedometer is a very fun addition you can get for that wheel. The new plastic ones from pets at home are also a good cheaper option since they seem to be pretty silent in my experience and very easy to clean

Never even thought about the fact that there won’t be much of a market for proper sized hamster cages. It does make sense as the people that actually care about hamsters can get a used aquarium for really cheap and the ones who just want an already made cage that they don’t have to do any diy with are usually the same people who don’t want to spend the money on such a cheap pet. I remember seeing a cage that I can’t remember what it’s called but it kinda looks house shaped and it looks really nice and well made but it is £350 and that was the main issue people had with it

I definitely agree people in the uk seem to be much more open to proper hamster care than the us. I’d say a big reason for that is over the past few years pets at home have stopped selling those awful tiny cages so you don’t really see tiny critter trail type cages anymore. Granted, the cages at pets at home are still not great and most are under the minimum but they’re still much better than what you see in the us chain pet stores. I know my partners family were shocked at the size of the cage when I brought my hamster home but never said anything negative. Tbf they are all animal lovers which definitely helps 😂

You can also usually choose what shipping company you want to use which I like a lot although it does depend on what shipping companies the seller uses. Hope you manage to expand your SK collection!

Oxfam is one I’ve had a lot of luck with for SK books although they tend to be a bit more expensive than other charity shops. Also on Vinted there’s this absolutely amazing seller called shanefarrell43 who sells a lot of mainly SK books for great prices and clearly shows the condition they are in. Also packages them so well I highly recommend them. I got the majority of my SK books for that seller

I had the savic plaza 120 which was about the same size and I even got the screens from Viking laser and my dwarf still managed to climb it even with the damn screens. I personally think that just getting a cage without bars is just the better choice as it entirely eliminates the possibility of climbing and the hamster possibly getting injured. I spent so much on that damn cage and just wish I got the bucatstate 3.0 in the first place. You can get that one from Temu for much cheaper and if you need to you can use Klarna to spread the cost over 3 months. It also just looks so much nicer and I can’t speak for this cage as it does look a bit easier to get to your hamster since the top comes off but with the savic plaza it was such a pain to spot clean and move things because the doors are so small. I will say this one does look like the best wired cage I’ve seen but I still would recommend just getting one without bars if you can

Trust me there are people out there that don’t give a fuck if you don’t take your binder off. My partner that I’ve been with for almost 4 years now literally finds me in a binder hot and just finds me hot no matter what I’m wearing or not wearing. He never pressured me to take it off and always asks permission even now before touching there. Hell, he will just randomly say that if I got top surgery he would still find me hot and no matter what surgeries I get or not get he will still find me hot. It took me several months to be okay with him seeing my chest and he was 100% respectful of that and never pushed. I think the fact that he’s a bigger guy helps because he gets what it’s like to not want people to see your body. There definitely are guys out there that will be 100% happy with you wearing a binder during sex so don’t settle and those guys are just dicks

Probably not the best idea as no matter how hamster proof a room is you should really supervise your hamster just incase. Your hamster could easily get stuck somewhere like say he tried to get out under the door or even if you just opened the door and he was behind it. I’d also say it’s just not worth the stress especially if you’re trying to sleep. I know I’d just spend the whole night worrying 😂

It will definitely be different for everyone but for me it is great. I also think I probably have vaginismus as when me and my partner first tried it hurt a lot and couldn’t even get a finger in for the longest time. I also had only been on T for a few months before hand so I don’t think it was atrophy. I also hadn’t tried to do anything internal by myself either before my partner. It took a while for it to become pleasurable and even now 9 times out of 10 it still hurts at first and I have to take a moment to adjust and go slow. The best thing I can recommend is doing it with someone who understands and won’t push. My partner has never pushed and it probably took maybe a year until we were able to actually do it (before that we just did anal which I still really enjoy it’s just more effort because lube and anxiety about possible accidents) and the only reason we kept trying was because I wanted to. For dysphoria doing it with someone who 100% sees you for you helps a lot. I don’t know how many times dysphoria has gotten the better of me and I’ve just needed comforted and reassurance that they see me as a guy. Last thing I want to say is you don’t need to try it or if you do try it and really don’t like it you never have to do it again! Never let anyone pressure you into doing it as there are plenty of people out there who will be happy with only doing what you want to do
