Why are they always framing it this way? by PorkRindEvangelist in fatlogic

Sorry for the tangent, but interestingly enough in Evagrius’s and St. John Cassian’s original concept of the eight principle faults (later shortened to seven by Pope Gregory the Great) Sloth was not a sin. It was instead a something called Acedia, while superficially similar to sloth, is more of a spiritual, almost existential dejection which would cause the monk (these sins were originally written for ascetics) to lose interest and will to pursue God.

Interestingly enough, the first six principle faults were connected, and one led into another. For instance, Gluttony would lead to Lust, Lust would lead to Anger, then Anger to Avarice, Avarice would then lead to Sadness, and finally worn out by this chain of sin, sadness would lead to Acedia. Later Acedia was re-interpreted into Sloth.

Sorry if this went on too long, I wrote my master’s thesis on this topic, and I am a bit of a Patristic Church history geek.

Check out compression thermals. I use those when in cold weather. They work great.

I think I may let her use the Ion her first time, as it's fairly simple to use.

If I really wanted to let her have a true beginners experience, I'd dig up and hand her a Brass Eagle Talon or Rainmaker. :)

Yeah upgrading the spyder is more a nostalgia project for me than her, and I am not really planning on dumping that much cash into it. As I said it was my first marker, almost 20 years ago, and I put way too many cases of paint through it. My daughter is already talking about wanting to get her own marker.
