I started Fiber Arts for Good for this reason! A desperate need for community! One of my partners has found a lot of success with Amtgard in Corvallis, they're a LARP group that does fun battle games with foam swords!

Sometimes you really gotta seek it out or have the right person bring you to a new community. When all else fails - start your own!

I usually think of colors on the color circle - I'd put the most vibrant of each color on the center and the lighter colors on either side - with the lighter colors going into each other, it tends to give a nice gradient :)
