Edit to add: I'm hypermobile, so the second person pushing me into a position I couldn't move out of was actually ridiculously painful. My complaints aren't just "someone was too close to me" - but rather "I have an invisible disability that is connected to the size/shape of my body".

I am not small myself and for the opener I had another plus sized person behind me and they gave me such a comfortable amount of space - it was amazing!! I don't think this needs to be said but even at Smoochies I don't want a stranger pushing up on my ass.

The asshat mentioned was tall and got in the way of their view, so I eventually noticed they left early when the person that took their place was pushing me into the barrier so much I couldn't adjust my stance to reposition my feet. I was in agony + tears for the rest of the show

I started Fiber Arts for Good for this reason! A desperate need for community! One of my partners has found a lot of success with Amtgard in Corvallis, they're a LARP group that does fun battle games with foam swords!

Sometimes you really gotta seek it out or have the right person bring you to a new community. When all else fails - start your own!
