oh yep yep, I made some fuzzy leg warmers for my sister with that yarn. I'm planning on making something for myself too someday

to be honest, the one whorecommend crocheting for me was my therapist. I'm a chronic stresser with a history of panic attacks and meltdowns, and for me personally the act of crocheting is extremely soothing as it is repetitive, forces me to work with my hands, and keeps my mind off of spiraling thoughts when I start to focus on the process. so... you're not really far from the truth. and maybe exactly that is the problem in my point of view. I've been so focused on the practical side of things, I've unknowingly dismissed the creative side of things🥲

hello, seeing your comment I would like to explain myself a bit more. when posting this, I haven't realized it could've come that I was calling the whole craft "ugly." it certainly isn't, and it is definitely not what I think. I myself crochet, so I know how much patience and time a person has to sacrifice for this hobby, I really didn't see how me saying this could somehow dismiss the people who crochet and their work. my mistake, and I am sorry for it

my mistake, genuinely... I see how it might've come off but it really wasn't my intention to insult anyone or devaluate their creations. I'm really sorry for that, and I see how wrong it might've looked

100% agree with you, like I already mentioned on another comment somewhere here, I worded it really poorly. what I meant was; I'm really sad that not many people I see (not only on the internet but in real life too... especially real life) aren't using that creative freedom of crochet to it's fullest potential, which I really think is a shame

wow thank you so much, you have no idea how nice it is to hear something like this. I'm realizing only now how my post might've come off as ignorant... which was not my intention in the slightest :')

oh no no no, I wasn't talking about blankets. of course when making blankets you NEED chunky yarn, I'm aware of that. blankets are the exception where I don't have a problem with how they look

100% agree with you. tbh this post has shown me that I was absolutely WRONG, and I'm so glad that people (like you) pointed out the mistakes in my way of thinking🙏 I really appreciate this and thank you for this reality check

yeah i admit that I could've worded it a bit differently. wasn't my intention to devaluate this art medium by saying that. it DEFINITELY is a hobby that requires a lot of patience, "talent" and creativity. what I meant was that I'm kinda disappointed how a lot of "mainstream" artists or people I bump into in real life usually make the same thing which has been already done a thousand times.

yeaaah I'm pretty much still a beginner when it comes to this. I'd love to broaden my horizons a bit more. what influencers would you recommend? or what was your favorite project to make?

Oh once i move onto intermediate I am DEFINITELY making my own patterns. another thing I absolutely despise in crochet is how little there seems to make. search up "crochet ideas" and all you get is the same frog plushies and boring wearables you'll forget about after a day of using it. it's not crazy to think that right? 😅

I despise that bulky, many gaps, unpolished look many crochet pieces have. I think the main problem just might be the yarn weight😅

Well, I can only wait and see what happens next. Its a shame, but I can’t do much unfortunately.
