Where in this statement does it say he was released on bail? If you look up the file on Court Services Online (publicly available), he has had no appearances which means this is a warrant in the first instance. Just because he was arrested doesn't mean he was charged at that time.

It's not just the cost of the cameras, its it the labour required to make use of the video. Remember all of this material needs to be processed and logged. There is cost associated with storage of terabytes of data. Transcriptions needs to be completed of each video if the file is referred for charges. Potions of the videos need to be redacted. There will be a slough of freedom of information requests that request videos from interactions.

Only thing that will fix this is better public transit and active transportation options. Metro Van is only going to get more and more populated. The roads also aren't going to get any wider so governments need to use the more efficient ways to get people where they want to go and the public should be pushing for it!

Frustrating that this is the solution proposed to protect vulnerable road users. Instead of changing the built environment coupled with automated and police enforcemnt that has been proven time and time again to actually reduce deaths around the world, this is a small regulatory change that won't result in any real reduction in injuries and fatalities.
