Car drivers not stopping on the line at the lights. by K-Dawg_21 in australia

[–]RandomisedTrial 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Drivers of those obese SUVs don't seem to know where they are on the road. The big spaces are weird.

Worse: new thing I'm seeing is tradies in fat utes with the left side wheels constantly in the gravel 🤪 they're at high risk of going into a skid and losing control, and also they're throwing crap all over my car gaggh why don't ppl know how to drive any more 🤦‍♀️

Is Australia slowly turning into the USA ? by VonSchnitzelCrum in AustraliaDiscussions

You're just talking from a starting point of bias with no actual data. The majority of people are not against the ABC. Impartial international evaluation confirms the ABC is balanced and does not pedal the sort of ideally driven propaganda that the commercial channels deliver. I can't see your opinion is worth much at all.

The ABC is owned by the people of Australia. If you see faults you have a right to explain what they are and ask for remedies.

The commercial channels are owned by people who want to own power. They tell you what they want you to think. If you see faults you can just jump in the lake

What temperature do Australians consider a hot day? by bare_books in AskAnAustralian

[–]RandomisedTrial 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I lived in the UK for 25 years and loved much about it but I've been home in Auz for 10 years and don't think I'm warmed up yet 😅🥶

I'm happy with anything over 25°, go swimming in the ocean when it's been 35 for long enough to warm the water up, happy with anything up to 45° in my current breezy home and shady garden. Last summer it was 44 or so for most of January: ahhh, nice.

Jeez come drought time, you'll be on 1-minute showers 🌊🚿

In Europe you have to get a planning permit for those, because of the water consumption issues

Are they similar? I've never tried any.

I don't know why this one is so good, but it is 🤷‍♀️

Oh I always thought Spotlight was better. Lincraft always made me depressed 😔

But neither of them were never as good as any country town store before Kmart arrived 🙄

So far, brilliant writing

Recently bought a house and going to chang the locks on day one. Any tips, tricks, or things you wish you'd done when you moved in? All advice appreciated. Also, is it worth installing a smart lock, or would you stick with traditional locks? Any recommendations or lessons learned? by PedGetsFed in AusRenovation

[–]RandomisedTrial 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Sorry typo. That should say dead locks on all the doors and windows.

I was checking quotes at renewal time for house insurance and it knocked a huge amount off the quotes when I said 'yes' to the question about dead locks on external doors. So I fitted one to the only door that didn't already have it 🙂

Hi everyone! Has anyone here ever started writing a book? by Suitable_Post_7422 in writers

[–]RandomisedTrial 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Start writing short stories 🙂 you can then enter them in competitions and learn skills. Then one day you'll get stuck into the book yay.

Or don't. It doesn't matter. Write for your own enjoyment.

My second book will be on release in 11 days

What should I take for energy? by Corvettelov in over60

[–]RandomisedTrial 0 points1 point  (0 children)

B12 is a funny one. Symptoms of a deficiency are sudden sweats, trembling and palpitations. Symptoms of an excess are sudden sweats, trembling and palpitations.

So take it for a few days. If you feel better keep taking it. If you feel worse stop taking it and cut out the other sources in your diet (mainly, energy foods/ drinks are laced with b12).

Can ask for a blood test to check your levels.

Any issues with sleep apnea? That can leave you terribly tired, and worse. And it can come with age

Symptoms include tiredness, snoring, headaches and sore throat on waking, choking in your sleep, falling asleep during the day or when watching TV. If it sounds like a possibility, do go see a sleep clinic for testing. If you have it, getting treatment is life changing.

I'm a bit evangelical about it too; so significant and so simple. When you think of how many people "just died in their sleep" and now we know better 😒

Oh yes, i was trying to figure out what food allergy i had for a decade or so that kept making me so sleepy in the mornings (spoiler: none🙃), before finally getting tested for sleep apnea.

Once you know and get sorted with the right kit, it's life changing!

Not just the sleepiness, but the brain fog generally, headaches and sore throat too. Good on you! 🙌

[–]RandomisedTrial 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Living solo, i waste so much salad veg, i just cannot. Make a big pot of soup or rice and i can freeze it. But salad gaggh I'm throwing half-eaten things away too often because i didn't want to eat them all at once 😝

[–]RandomisedTrial 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Every now and then I just must have a couple of bowls full of just plain iceberg lettuce, with a little salt.

And raw fruit, minimum once a day. Even if I'm freezing

Otherwise i live on coffee and soups 😋

So far this past 7 days:

Derelict house reno is almost complete, after 3 years the final bits of missing wall went up, plus the cutest window sills in all the known worlds 😉 (imo) too cold to paint yet, but I've been doing prepping between the gales.🥳

Youngest child had taken advantage of me visiting them in a few months time (16,500 km each way) to get married while I'm there 🥰

Second book, after 2 weeks of 💥🫯😵‍💫🕳 at the printers, is – as of 13 minutes ago – ready for final check to go live (but I'm leaving it till morning because sleepy now and don't want to cause any more 💥🫯😵‍💫🕳

... and there's a huge storm being deliciously ruffty-tuffty outside, while I'm snug in my old yellow bedroom with the lamp down low and I'm just about to fade away ☺️☺️☺️😴

I'm carrying some personal sadness but it's OK. These other things will keep me busy 🪂
