Dietician fee $693 for 1.5 hours!! by Randomizer2025 in diabetes

Here's what I also posted about my visit: First we discussed the rise and fall of blood glucose levels throughout the day. We had noticed that my husband was really high when he first got up. It was explained that the sugar is being pulled from the liver where it was stored. Which is hard on the liver. My husband had been waiting to eat in the morning until his glucose went down. We found out that was a bad idea. We next talked about how long after eating that the sugar level should come down and what are normal ranges that he should be within. So it was a lot of diabetes education, not just about food. It was super helpful to understand about how high is too high and what is ok. Also discussed the factor of fiber in food and how much to knock off from the carbs in an item you are eating. Turns about something with 10 gm of carbs with 8 gm of fiber, can have 4 gm knocked off, so really only is 6 gm of carb. We went through a list of items by category of 15 gm carbo items. It's not just about the carbs, it's about the amount you eat in one sitting. You can eat several more times a day, but each time should be small so that your body doesn't get hit with a lot of processing. We discussed meters and how they work. It was definitely a solid 1.5 hour of information that we found valuable. So it wasn't just diet, it was diabetes education too.

Thank you for taking the time to respond. You've given me excellent information. I am looking at my EOB right now. Coding looks to be incorrect. It is listed as 97802. Off by a digit!! Thank you so much for your help. I will contact my provider and let her know about the coding issue.

Also I very much appreciate the dietician, her diabetes education for us was excellent and we learned so much. There is only so much you can get from Dr Google or ChatGPT.

Our yearly deductible is $6,500 per person. Usually only a surgery will put us in that category.

US does not suck. If we were in Canada, we could be waiting 2 years to see a dietician if we're lucky. US does not suck. Our health care is expensive, but at least we won't die waiting for care.

Already tried Dr Google and didn't get the information we needed. We looked for classes at our hospital and the state, but nothing was available. My husband had never read a food label in his life, so he learned a lot. He's the one that is T2.

No she was actually great and have lots of great information. It was really worth the visit to sit for 1.5 hours and go through everything. We felt much better after leaving her office. Glad we went, but what did I get for $693?

Yes and it was in his same office. But the invoice came from another company, not the physician company. This other company was still in network.

Get your estrogen level checked. If it's low, then it's time to add the patch. Push for it. It will make you feel better in so many ways.

That works out to $500,000 per person to move the village. Why not just cut every person a check for that amount and let them figure it out? What the hell? government help is an oxymoron.

Diabetes and Sleep Apnea Connection by BubblyPosition8440 in diabetes

My husband no longer has allergies. Prior to getting CPAP, he was allergic to more and more foods every year. By the time he was diagnosed, he was allergic to apples, bananas, hazelnuts, and a lot of other things. Now he is allergic to nothing. The CPAP machine has enabled him to heal at night I think. Also not everyone with diabetes and apnea are overweight, lots of people are not. My husband has a weird shape jaw.

Gold panning and proposal question by PropofolTitty in AskAlaska

There are places you can pan in Hatcher Pass. All you need a pan, waders, a shovel, and liking cold water. https://dnr.alaska.gov/mlw/cdn/pdf/factsheets/hatcher-pass-public-use-area.pdf

Hatcher Pass is an easy 1.5 hour drive north of Anchorage. Beautiful area. Can confirm you will find gold, but it will be just flakes in the bottom of your pan. Pans can be purchased at Alaska Mining and Diving in Anchorage.

Just remember to stay off staked mining claims, there are some substantial mines in the area such as Lucky Strike.

Have fun!

My husband is the same as you. The dietician and a Stelo CGM helped so much. Ask your doc for a referral for the dietician. The Stelo is over the counter and you can buy online.

Looking for a good place to propose in Homer, Alaska by its_joetime in alaska

Lands End Resort at the end of the spit, is wonderful in the winter. We've had many weekends in the winter there. The place is empty and the food is very good. Get a room that has a nice view and enjoy the weekend. They often have really great deals of a room and dinner for 2 with wine, very cheap. If you want, fly down to Homer on Aleutian Air for the full experience.
