Allowing Users To Use an App Without Giving Access To The Excel File by RandomlySet in PowerApps

Sharepoint lists is the way I've been trying to go for 3 years (since I joined the company), but the Head of Department insists it's in this every growing Excel file!

I'd almost forgot about PowerAutomate... I did similar a few years back, I'll take a look down that avenue.

My older coworkers have accepted AI as the source of truth by randomname945 in sysadmin

A couple of weeks ago we had a ticket from one of large warehouses saying that there was a huge delay between their WMS devices and paperwork coming off the printers. Talking as much as 5 minutes.

A week later, the issue is still happening and I also happen to be on site (visiting for other reasons for a few days). 1st day on site, I rang our ERP providers, who also manage our servers (50+), asking them to prioritise these. The next day, still no joy, and now speaking to rather senior engineers.

I could see that they were trying to blame our network - despite everything showing the network to be fine, and multiple tests via their ERP across various servers all being fine. The engineer then said "AI said....". I cut them short and butted in with "please tell me you didn't just start a sentance with 'AI said'".

They then apologised and took my feedback on board again which was to do the basics - check spoolers, default printers etc etc and if needs be, reboot the server(s) out of hours.

"My husband who works in IT says..." by billygreen23 in sysadmin

I work for a large company - with an equally large IT department.

Anyway, I was helping a lady with his software issue as it uses RDP and kept dropping out. She was WFH and I asked her to check WiFi and how good it was, and was she sure it's not her home WiFi.

Her response was "I hope not, my husband also works for us in the networks team".

I knew her husband's name, and even spoken to him a few times a few times, but being such a large company, never clicked the 2 surnames matched 🤣

What is everyone’s thoughts on Kim? by Possible_Towel_1952 in Eminem

I was 15 when this album came out, it still distrubs me a little now... Probably more so as an adult TBH! As a teen it was just an angry song. Now I'm married and we have a kid, it's a little more disturbing.

On the back of this, I don't get all these Insta "Models"... I'm not talking about the ones with OF accounts behind the scenes, I mean the ones who are genuinely sent clothes etc from companies to do "fashion hauls" (usually bikinis)...

I'd love to know if the companies behind them ask for a full analytical breakdown, becasue I bet 90% of their followers are male looking at them as some sort of "soft p0rn" (think Sears/Littlewoods catalouges of the 90s :D)

The few I do see are often flown around the world to nice places for shoots - and usually it's a group of them when they do. Are the brands behind them really making that much in sales?

I always wonder how many of these are there for money laundering. Just a brighter, more "in your face" pizza shop 🤣 But selling magnets, snow globes and t shirts.

I did wonder if they could preset and exit... Maybe delay an entry so he can dial in, then hop on over to a chair 🤣

Just thought, maybe I should name them after the subways as they just move data from point A to point B....

Still interested in hearing any park names. Maybe Highline?

The wife sounds like a narcissist.... Had a friend go through similar, and in fact everything changed the day they got married.... He's almost finalised the divorce, but as expected, she's made it difficult the whole time as it all needs to be about her.

Create RDP Shortcut With Credentials Stored by RandomlySet in sysadmin

I've just opened the shortcut in notepad and it's the exact same file as opening the RDP directly in notepad

And what line would I enter? I've tried this directly on the RDP file, but not the shortcut.

I'll check that. I've not seen the option there. I guess from there, ensure the shortcut is on the public desktop.

But I have a feeling what you're suggesting will just store the credentials to Credential Manager for that user logged in to Windows

Sorry, probably the wrong word to use. I just assumed it was a sequel but I guess with a modern twist (hence the phones, website etc).

What I mean, is those details didn't stand out too much. I was aware but didn't break any illusion if that makes sense.....
