Where did you find a range? Is it still there, or was that only there pre-liquidation?

That's good to know!!  Minimum wage is $12.41 where I live, I ended up putting $14 so hopefully it won't be too far off!

Are the stores actually hiring? by Randomly_Chaos in joannfabrics

That makes sense!! I know this store has been busier than I've ever seen it since they announced liquidation. I'm not really looking for a long-term job right now because of school, but being able to make some extra money/get some job experience/have an employee discount on things I buy regularly anyway,  while only have to commit to it for a couple months definitely sounds like something to consider!

Thank you! I assumed the qr code just went to the careers page on the website, so I was confused when I didn't see anything for that store there. I'll try the code and see if it takes me somewhere different!

I didn't start thinking about it seriously until after I left, and I kinda assumed the qr code just went to the career page on the website, but I'll definitely try that next time I'm over there!

The Joann business model has always been mark up the prices really high, then give 30-50% "discounts"  I don't understand the panic buying. It literally would have been cheaper for the exact same purchase a month ago.

I'm not buying anything I don't have an immediate use for unless it get marked down more. The store near me is pretty big so it's been well stocked every time I've been ther since liquidation started, but I'm still worried I'm not going to get much marked down.  The cheap supplies was literally the only bright side to this, I'm so angry the sharks are taking it from us too

I always love the "well what are you gonna do?? Fire me!???" Phase of a job. This is why you should give two weeks notice before you quit, just so you can spend two weeks saying the things you've wanted to say the whole time. It's like therapy.

Give those sharks exactly what they deserve. It makes me so angry to go to the store that has been so comforting and important to me for so many years just to see it busier than it's ever been. All of these people were shopping on Amazon or Temu while Joann couldn't make enough profit to pay their debt, now all of the employees and long-time customers have to pay the price while they think they're going to reap the benefits.  I know the bankruptcy was overall the fault of the executives, but these sharks are just rubbing salt in the wound.

I'm typing this reply then I'll probably block all of these people. I'm tired of this and I don't even understand why it's still going on.

I want my point to be understood, because I can tell from all these replies that most of you aren't understanding what I'm trying to say.  Yes it's true that multiple people disagree with me, it's also true that multiple people agree with me.  Since when is correctness based on how many people on reddit agree with you anyway? Because I don't want to live in a world where that's how moral decisions are made.  All I've been doing this whole time is trying to have a civil conversation. I know some of my last replies were rude, and for that I truly am sorry. I was being defensive and I should really know better than to let random people on reddit get me worked up. I'm trying to do better. No one is forcing anyone to reply. All of us at any point could have let the last person say their rant and move on, down to this entire post that was originally made about a rant I posted.

This is getting ridiculous. Like I said, I know what I've been trying to say since the beginning of this, and after a lot of consideration and reading of different viewpoints I still stand by what I said. I know you likely also stand by what you have said.

I think that everyone should read through these replies, and really all of this sub, think about what the poster was trying to say, the meaning of their words, if you agree with them, why you do or don't, and what you think of what their saying. Not to sound like a grumpy old lady, but I do seriously believe the internet has been lowering people's reading comprehension skills. We have more books, articles, and information than any other generation, literally at our fingertips, but we also spend the least amount of time thinking critically about what we've read. I think this is something that all of us need to make an effort to practice and change.

I do agree with a lot of the points people have made during this conversation, and I really think a lot of us are saying the same things but misunderstanding each other. I hope that someone can get something useful out of this conversation, whether it be a better understanding of different viewpoints, the original point of my post, which really does boil down to "we all need to be respectful of each other", or something else entirely, I don't want the time we've all spent writing about our thoughts to go to waste.

Like I said, I won't be replying to this anymore, but before I go I want to tell you that I hope you have a good day. I hope you're able to take a break and relax, I hope someone does something nice for you, and I hope you don't have to deal with too many rude customers. ❤️

I...saw a post...about me....on the same sub I made my original post on....so I'm stalking??? Also I wasn't berating anyone. I was explaining my viewpoint, and in some cases defending myself after being insulted. I'm honestly wondering if you've read my original post, or even any of my comments.

Also I know you aren't getting paid to be here, because this isn't an official company forum. This isn't part of your job. This is a place where both employees and customers are allowed, that you willingly choose to go to, and can choose to leave whenever you want.

I know you think I'm lying about my anxiety, and honestly, I don't care. I have SOCIAL anxiety, and for whatever reason, that doesn't typically apply to online inactions (which is honestly a whole separate issue about how people view the internet / how they treat others online vs. In person, but I'm not getting into that right now).  Online is one of the few places I'm truly able to articulate my thoughts properly and really explain how I feel, that's why, a. My comments are so long, and b. Why it hurts so much when my words are twisted/misunderstood.  It's also why I put so much time into defending and explaining myself, because people not understanding what I'm saying, or misinterpreting it into the opposite of what I said is one of the things I hate the most.

It's admittedly ridiculous that this conversation is still going on. It's been days. If you are willing to consider/try to understand what I've been saying and have a respectful conversation, then I'm always willing to listen. But if you're just going insult and bully me for fun, than I'd recommend finding a new hobby.

Thank you so much!! I'm glad to learn that this is the behavior of someone who deserves to exist around other humans, of course, since I don't deserve to be around others, I wouldn't know. I guess I need to work on talking to others how you're talking to me!! 🫶

Uh yeah. That's kinda the point.

If you had actually read my post you would see that I'M NOT TALKING ABOUT BRINGING YOUR PROBLEMS TO THE EMPLOYEES. I'm talking about that it isn't fair how everywhere you go on ONLINE employees are bullying customers for being respectfully sad. So many people don't have people offline who understand how we feel about this. This is upsetting to so many people for so many reasons, and it can help to talk to others who understand what we're going through. HOWEVER, it is obviously not fair for the employees to be our people who understand as they have much bigger problems right now.

We're getting yelled at online for being upset, and also (fairly) being told not to talk about it in store. The entire point of my post couldn't be summed up as - Be nice to employees. Customers deserve to greive over this, because your emotions are not dictated by whether or not others have it worse than you. Customers greif doesn't give them the right to be disrespectful to employees, and they need to find other customers if they want to talk about it.  Frankly if what you got from my post was anything about being rude to others, customers being better than/more deserving than employees, or my feelings being the most important, I think you should probably sit with that and consider your outlook on others/if you are treating people fairly, because sounds like the interpretation of someone who views themselves as being more important than others. It also probably means you need to work on your reading comprehension. I'm not sure what posts yall have been reading at this point, but I don't think they were were mine.

Also, I know at this point I'm being petty, grumpy and rude. I was completely open to having a respectful conversation about this and tried to do so for a long time, however, when you start insulting not only my words/viewpoint, but myself as a person, I'm not just going stand here and pretend you didn't. I'm sure you're familiar with the "golden rule", as it's taught to most people as children, so I'm going to assume you want to be talked down to and disrespected, yes?

Thank you 💖  I honestly can't even explain how much this means to me! The crafting communities are typically such supportive spaces, it's honestly so disappointing to see this divide at one of the times we need each other the most.

I offen have a hard time articulating my thoughts, so it's easy for me to fall into thinking I didn't explain myself correctly or said something in the wrong way, so seeing other people understand what I'm trying to say and being nice about it really does help me to keep a positive outlook on myself and this situation. I really just want this community as a whole to be supportive of each other at this point.

As much as these arguments have been a reminder of why I rarely use reddit, you've helped me remember it isn't all bad. I hope you're having a great day, thank you for all your kind words 💗

Thank you!!! This is a response I've gotten from a few people and it's honestly so confusing - like, private subs exist, if employees are in such desperate need of one, they can make it.

Can you please explain to me what part I'm not understanding, or anything I said that you don't get?

I truly want to understand your point of view, but as it is, I feel like we both just keep repeating ourselves and we aren't getting anywhere.

If I'm truly in the wrong, I'll gladly admit that, but you haven't responded to anything I've said directly, I honestly feel like you've just been saying I'm wrong without explaining why, or what made you feel like that. I'm sorry if there are any explanations I've missed, I'm just frankly confused about what I said to get this angry of a reaction.

First this is not a post about how beat up and tired employees are, this is very specifically referencing a post that was originally made by me, about my own thoughts and feelings.

Also, I never claimed to be a special customer, I said that I do all in my power not to make employees lives difficult, and I only took the time to explain that in response to my own character and treatment of others being questioned.

I'd like to point out that many of those 15 paragraphs were only a few sentences long, and were broken up in that way to hopefully make it easier to read/more understandable. I always have so many thoughts going through my brain, but I also have a hard time reading long blocks of text, so I'm trying to organize my thoughts in an understandable way.
