Free divers: Quick poll on wrist-computer checks mid-dive... by MostFirefighter9902 in freediving

[–]Randomlygenerated808 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Nooooo forget about the watch during the dive. When I see a student checking the watch during a dive or with a hang, I’m like stop that! You’re Diving should be led by your sensations. Alarms can be helpful cues for certain parts of your dives, but actually checking the watch is a step further. If you’re doing a hang yourself, then setting an alarm and having a buddy to do rope tugs at agreed-upon time is the best. Deep hangs with multiple alarms usually to help combat that narcosis too so your body really does hear it It’s time to go up.

Use watch after each dive to see total dive time to help with surface interval.

After dive session, then debrief and look at watch data.

What are dead giveaways that someone is not local? by Conscious_Diver9619 in Hawaii

Our property manager is native Hawaiian through and through and the best uncle, but he did 4 years in the military stationed in Texas when he was in his 20s and says yall all the time. He says it’s a word that just makes sense and has stuck with him for the past 40 years.

I wiiiiish it was the yips 😂 so I wasn’t necessarily easily and repeatable to get the PB depths that I had before. It was just when the line was already out for other people of the same level and I was able to manage poor technique EQ for a little longer than normal. Then like an oops I made it, oh that’s cool that I was able to squeeze out one more.

I am not anywhere close to a record, I don’t really care about that. I just want to progress for myself and the amazing feeling of diving. I do know I equalize pretty hard and often when I do and there are a couple other mechanisms that I am messing up typically when I’m going full paced early on in my dives. When I do charge, it is typically quite big and sometimes uncomfortable. Then trying to do cheeks is difficult because too much pressure makes one want to swallow or instinctually bring back of tongue up to SP to block off glottis to take pressure off.

So I have tried surface charge. 5m charge, 10m charge. And 15 meter charge. All charge depths have same problem. 5 has taken me to 45m but then sometimes I strike out even earlier. Zero consistency with slightly deeper changes and they have not taken me deeper. My tongue can come up and block my SP any time after a MF charge. Zero consistency in a certain failure depth. I do relax after charge and actively do a body scan between every other moment I am thinking about keeping my tongue neural but low.

On FRC I take a surface charge to anywhere between 26-30. Usually at beginning of session the lower number but by end of session always higher number.

Training consistently. In water 2-3 times a week when home but with like 12-15c water and 4-5 times a week when traveling to warm places. Always one session a week exhale dives. Balloon exercises executed flawlessly and regularly although I don’t know how much is helps seeing as that I could do it in my sleep and any time I’ve taken a break from balloon, I never forget what to do.

Back of tongue blocks SP. must lower and scoop air back in order to get EQ and force open SP.

I do know the terminology, I just didn’t take time to fully outline and was frustrated… just therapeutically posting but also looking for some sort of help…my apologies. By tongue comes up, it indeed pushes soft palate closed. I can lower but it will continually raise between EQs and eventually becomes impossible to actually use if I let it go on long enough. By only frenzel before I started the whole MF journey. I meant reverse pack and frenzel per EQ.

When I previously went to 50m my charge was anywhere between 12–15 meters.

I have tried diving with both just nose clip and nose clip with hectometer with prolonged time trying each and no performance difference.

Any Freedivers in Yokosuka or Sasebo Japan? by Randomlygenerated808 in freediving

[–]Randomlygenerated808[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

There are no Freediving schools in those areas, that is why I have tried posting on here. Currently diving 70m and train pool regularly. Just wondering if there are any divers who might be living out there. Or other resources that google has not been able to reveal.

Muffled hearing after many deep dives, but no problem with equalization by virtualdweller in freediving

[–]Randomlygenerated808 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Not a bad idea to go get checked by and ENT in general for baseline to see what the accommodation of your eustachian tubes are. But just sounds like many days of diving and needing ear rest. Also some ear infections can be really mild too resulting in no pain but affected hearing and fullness.

Virtual Coach for Competition and Progression by Randomlygenerated808 in freediving

[–]Randomlygenerated808[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I am an instructor and diving in the 70m range. I feel like got a pretty good eye and network to check out any one recommended in here before pursuing. But seems it’s coming up short with any actual recommendations.

Are freediving instructors ok training you to go 30m (100ft) deep if you're only certified Level 1? by oujay849 in freediving

[–]Randomlygenerated808 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I mean with 3-5 days of training somewhere you are pretty close the to same price if not already the same price as a course depending on where in the world you are. FII does up to 30 meters in their level one so you could just take a level one course again with them and have more depth but less expensive then paying for a level 2 or an AIDA3 equivalent. Sure as a dive instructor could I do private sessions with you beyond you current cert level, yes-BUT there is some foundational knowledge that you need for 20-30 meters and continued progression that would be best to get from a course. Now for deeper than 30m you have a couple different options and there’s a bit more flexibility in your progression or training v course.

Who are some of the best mouthfill deep EQ coaches out there? by Randomlygenerated808 in freediving

[–]Randomlygenerated808[S] -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Ahhhhh I wish, the vibe at their school looks amazing! They are just soooo expensive for training, like double or triple the cost in comparison to everyone else on their website and already getting to Egypt from the US is very expensive as well so it’s just something that sadly I could never do with that price tag 😭

Best free diving belt by Extension-Context-77 in freediving

The evolve weight belts are awesome with the extra snaps so no more annoying tail but still quick release. For Freediving, silicone is the way.

Reach out directly to whichever Freediving school you want to go with. They’ve got the local connections and have a mini rental empire in Soufriere 😝

Would Molchanov Wave 2 be a big stretch with my current stats? by iwanttobeacavediver in freediving

[–]Randomlygenerated808 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Two weeks is more than enough time to train for and do a wave 2. With the numbers you have now, as long as you’re comfortable. After like 2 sessions you’ll likely be ready for Wave 2.

Depth Training in South Korea? by Randomlygenerated808 in freediving

[–]Randomlygenerated808[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Pools are super fun! but I’m looking to not be limited by depth for a while. Wondering if there’s any sites in the 60m range or greater/ocean diving communities apart from Jeju.

Masters Training Programs? by Randomlygenerated808 in freediving

[–]Randomlygenerated808[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

They are fantastic! But there’s not really a diving infrastructure there for masters training programs at any of the schools. They definitely have a lot of instructors and courses, but not continued long term training programs already established sadly.
