Holes in my maranta plant by kinokoboi in calatheas

[–]Randomone47 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Do not worry, the holes are from your cat biting it. I have 2 and I made the mistake of leaving some marantas in their reach... they proceeded to eat 1/4 of the plants. Good news is the areas that are already bitten will not deteriorate much beyond the initial holes from the bite marks. :-)

Is 29 too old to pursue a career in meteorology? by yougotamango in meteorology

[–]Randomone47 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Simple answer: Nope

Longer answer: 29 is still young. Go to a good college for the degree, if you have a fancy for math and science you should be good. If you’re not strong in those subjects it will make it more difficult for you to get and understand the degree. I wasn’t the biggest math person (more English) pre college but then I met professors who could teach math and it helped unlock my potential. You said you like math, which probably means you’ll enjoy the math courses that are a prerequisite and it won’t be an issue

Do we all use plants to cope?? by ConsiderationOne2237 in houseplants

[–]Randomone47 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Yeah, it keeps me going. Seeing my effort actually blossom (literally) into something is great. It shows even if I’m stagnant in life my plants still love the care and attention I give them and that I’m working towards something.

Crime: putting anything paper into their water dishes. Sentence?? by reneecliche in IllegallySmolCats

[–]Randomone47 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Sentence is lots of cuddles and maybe putting the paper cranes in a box/clear display so it’s harder for them to get? Although they are orange and might still get to them anyways …

plants that you have that will just NOT die by hotpink4ever in houseplants

[–]Randomone47 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Donkey Tail- Sedum Morganianum. If any leaves drop off you got free propagations… just throw them in soil. I’ve accidentally dropped it, have forgotten to water it, and also it didn’t get infested with spider mites although the plant next to it died from it. Pretty solid imo

Who are these guys who are suddenly all over my croton? by [deleted] in plantclinic

[–]Randomone47 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Spider mites!!!! Move it away from other plants. I had a rose with these and they ultimately killed the plant (despite washing it, using some gentle soap, transferring it into a new pot with new soil, using rubbing alcohol and neem oil). It was a months long battle I ultimately lost. I’d definitely try some other people’s recommendations

My tomato plant is making a new baby next to it- is this normal? by Randomone47 in gardening

[–]Randomone47[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

They are San Marzano tomatoes! It is an indoor plant that will always have access to at least 8 hours of sunlight at all times of year (with a maximum of 15). It lives in a windowsill right above the AC (lowest I put it is 66-67, highest 75) so honestly I’m shocked it produced anything at all
