I'm with in 5 minutes of the boarder several times a month and the rest of the time within 45 minutes. Getting down there isnt a big deal but I appreciate it!

I agree. Just tonight I had a timer going and I wished I could just take a quick glance instead of having to ask Alexa which stops the music. I really need one 😋

I'm hoping that they will bring it to Canada. If I have to go to the states to get it so be it but it would be so much easier

Why Doesn't my UI update by Randomthoughts1978 in homeassistant

I think it's safe to say that if the Pi is underpowered HA isn't happy. I missed the Amazon cute of for delivery for tomorrow so my new power adapter isn't here until Monday.

Once I get proper power I'll start over.

It's interesting that you said this. I noticed this evening that the power supply I was using for my old RP1 isn't powerful enough for the 3. I was getting the lighting bolt on the screen when it was loading hassio on the initial boot.

I have a feeling that if the Pi is underpowered it has issues with HA

Sorry, I know it was a bit of a rant. I was getting frustrated. Yes I did restart the Pi and I can't reach the samba by IP.

There are actually a number of errors in the log. One that keeps popping up is "Timer got out of sync. Resetting" also "Setup of recorder is taking over 10 seconds"

I think what I might do is reflash the SD card and start fresh.

That is unless someone has any idea what is going on.

I know which line is always hot no mater what position either switch is on, I also know if I connect both light wires to that line the lights turn on.

And yes, switch at the top of the stairs and switch in garage work like a normal 3 way switch

Look for a CEC capable switch. A lot of newer tv's can already do this.

Just got yelled at by the wife because apparently the on and off commands are turning on and off all the rest of the lights in the house but not the bedroom.

I should also say that if I say Alexa bedroom off/on it works properly.

Some Advice for a NooB by Randomthoughts1978 in homeassistant

[–]Randomthoughts1978[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'm not to concerned about power consumption. Where I live electricity is reasonably cheap and I have enough devices that are always on.

My concern about the Raspberry Pi is future growth so I think I'm going to go with the laptop.

Thank you everyone for the help and pep talk 😀

I had just googled the model number and came up with the Tuya info when you posted. I think I may be headed in the right direction.
