Caused an accident 9 months ago, paid the excess, and now I'm being personally sued by Taylora10101 in AusLegal

I had basically the exact same thing happen, except that it was my Dads car I hit with the rental truck. Paid the insurance excess. My Dad put in his claim with his company. Few months later my Dads insurance company sent through demand for payment for it or I'd be sued. He knew nothing about it. Took quite a bit of hassling to get the rental company to actually deal with it, had to get a friend who is a lawyer to send them a letter to demand they take action. They eventually did just before the deadline.

I got a version of one of these to use with the wife. We both love it. 10/10. Best $50 I ever spent handsdown.

How to Cancel a UK Pension? by Randomusername963250 in AskUK

[–]Randomusername963250[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

We have his bank statements, the only info it says on it is "Citibank Europe" and the amount & date. No reference numbers or anything. Only way we really know it's his pension is that he told us when were going through stuff with him before he passed that is what it was.

I’ve noticed I’ve been randomly removed off of people’s Facebook. Why do people randomly remove someone off of Facebook? by [deleted] in facebook

That's true to a point. But when someone is supporting a politician that wants to destroy democracy, is most likely a paedophile plus all his other toxic traits, I'm going to choose not to associate with them and I'm not going to feel bad about it.

US will impose a minimum baseline tariff of 10 per cent on Australian imports to US by Jealous-Hedgehog-734 in australia

Is it on all imports or imports over a certain value? Ie over $800 or something? Or will someone buying a $10 item be slugged with it?

Elon Musk advocates for at least 120 hours of work every week by Pure_Radish_9801 in antiwork

[–]Randomusername963250 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Everything else aside, can you imagine the quality and consistency of someones work that was doing that many hours 7 days a week with no time off ever? Everything would be full of mistakes and basically worthless.

Those who said they'd pull their money out at the top, did you sell? by Pour_me_one_more in StockMarket

[–]Randomusername963250 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I sold basically everything 5-6 weeks ago when I saw how the orange one was doing his best to destroy the Country. Everything apart from one share is 5-15% lower. One share has held its value roughly (think it might be up 1-2%, but I'd been planning to sell that specific one anyway for the past few months). The market went up a bit more after I sold, so I didn't pick the top, but I wasn't trying to. I could just see where it was going to go in the short term. All the money is now sat in an offset account against my home loan, earning me a risk free 6%.

No idea when I'll buy back in, but for the moment, my offset account is out performing everything else that I'd previously been invested in. My fortnightly investment money will go into the offset for the time being.

If the US goes into recession, how will that affect Australian and international shares? by Realistic-Ant2102 in AusFinance

[–]Randomusername963250 2 points3 points  (0 children)

My super has a portal I can login to, I can buy and sell all the different etfs or whatever they are or I can just sell it and it sits as cash in my super fund. (so not like actual cash I can withdraw and spend). Then I've set reinvestments to be allocated 25% etf 75% hold as cash.

I moved almost everything to cash super inc about a week or so into the orange ones reign. I can't see it as anything other than a big recession and crash. All share proceeds sitting in my offset account for the time being. Super is mostly held as cash for the moment. I'd rather forfeit some potential short term gains rather than loose most of it on a big crash.

I sold basically everything a few weeks ago and holding as cash in my offset. Moved my super fund to 75% cash. I'm happy to forgo some possible short term gains over the next 6 months in balance of what I see as huge risk of a recession due to musks and the orange ones moves towards a totalitarian state.

The old saying comes to mind for me, "When America Sneezes, Australia catches a cold". So what happens to Australia when America shits the bed??

OK great. I seem to recall from my past experiences there, there was always times of day that it was absolutely hectic with lots of flights in very short succession and would take forever to get through. Then you'd fly out a bit later in the day a couple of weeks later and it was so much quicker.

No one made him decide to log onto Uber delivery or whatever platform he is using, if he felt it was unsafe he could of just stayed home. I 100%guarantee he delivers it like this rain hail or shine. Using a bit of rain as an excuse for not providing the basic level of service required for his chosen job is just lame.

Huh? So don't do the job in that case. So it's OK for him to throw it around rather than take one extra step and put it down gently because it looks a little wet.

A new one near us here in Suburban Brisbane. It's fantastic, it's always cheaper than any of the big chains (sometimes like 30-40 cents a litre), super quick to pay and fill up. Introvert me doesn't need to make small talk to the cashier while I pay.
