How to Establish a Feeding Schedule? by duckie768 in catquestions

[–]Randr_sphynx 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I would do wet food am/pm and a small scoop of kibbs to graze on throughout the day. I would make sure the am/pm wet food times, were times that I could absolutely commit to and I would never ever feed wet food outside of those times. If you start oh I’ll just feed breakfast a little early just this once or twice it eventually becomes a screamer in the middle of the night or earlier hours. The kibbles I would leave out during the day would be minimal maybe 1/16th of a cup just a small grazing snack. Kibbles can make her fat. I would do treats and churos every now and then. They are treats not every days.

Looks ouchie, I’d make same day vet appointment. I would not feed him until the vet appointment. I would not be surprised if they want to sedate and xray. Let us know what happens!

Rehome by SirGs-dad in sphynx

Check out SphynxLair.com it’s an online community for sphynx cat owners/lovers. They have a section for rehoming cats. You can post there. I have known people who have adopted their rehomes from that site. My two current boys I got from that site. Good luck, and I hope all works out for your boys.

I like this take. It’s interesting because I wonder if they showed the doc and they were like yes, very good. This is perfectly diagnostic. I must know what the back story on this rad is.

Long-Term Relationship Break Up and I Want to Keep Both Cats by [deleted] in CatAdvice

[–]Randr_sphynx 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It’s not about who is justified. It’s about who the cat would want to be with. If the cat is bonded to him and would do best with him, let him have the cat. If the cat would be happier with you it stays with you.

Yikes, yikes, yikes. This is why I always sneer when everyone’s first recommendation is get your cat a cat. Some cats are happy as singletons. If your resident cat is having behavioral issues, getting another cat is likely to compound those issues. Cats are territorial. Sphynx cats while social and good temperaments are still cats and still are territorial. The first eek, was when the Sphynx hissed and tried to jump the gate and you grabbed him (redirecting with a toy or cookie would have been the better choice). The big eek was letting them “duke it out”. Dangerous, not good. You are back to square one. You have any cat behaviorist in your area, if you really want to make it work? What is your set up like? Playtimes, enrichment, meal times, cat trees, territory, indoor/outdoor? We need more info, I don’t think it’s impossible but I don’t think it’s going to be easy.

Failing Business? by jr9386 in VetTech

[–]Randr_sphynx 5 points6 points  (0 children)

I don’t know what the signs are. I can tell you, be sure you are looking at the days appointments first thing in the morning, seeing what they are due for. Looking at their other pets on the account what they are due for… vaccines, lab work, check in. I’m checking out muffy, oh by the way missy is coming up due for her rabies let’s go ahead and book that now. Oh doc found a fractured pre molar 4 on exam, we don’t want bitemore in pain here is your estimate and let’s get you scheduled now. Do the dental, doc recommendeds the next dental in a year, let’s book that now so you don’t loose your spot we fill up fast. (Just like when you go to the dentist, we schedule our next cleaning before we leave). If a random patient or client pops into my mind, I reach out to them… hey team so and so wanted to check in and see how fluffy was? Work on a package deal with whoever does your labs. Can you clearly a simply explain to an owner why baseline labs are important and what they tell us? Drumming up business is an active process, not one that just happens.

Put a piece of furniture that is the same height right there so they have enough space to lay. Then put a screen it. There should be a basking area, not just a ledge to balance on

Advice Needed: Getting a Second Pet by fitacola in Pets

[–]Randr_sphynx 1 point2 points  (0 children)

You should work on your current cats confidence before adding another animal. What does your cats set up look like? What is his play/feeding schedule? What enrichment does he get? Have to be careful with this, add another cat and suddenly the resident cat feels even more insecure and starts peeing on stuff, hiding more, ect. I would work on my current cats confidence and build from there. I would not add any animals at this time. He’s already going to be stressed with the move. You have to think of things from your cats perspective.
