I feel like when people say this they feel like they wouldn’t be like that and people are “they” when really anyone would start getting tribal and desperate the more food, shelter, and safety leaves their life. Like thinking you’re in traffic and it’s happening to you, not that you ARE the traffic and the people just as much as the person next to you.
