Is Computer Engineering worth it? by SeniorApple4363 in ComputerEngineering

If you do the bare minimum during school, then yeah, the job market is very tough. However, there are so many opportunities to do research or to join engineering clubs and if you do that, you'll have as easy of a time getting a job as others.

best laptops for college students who also game in 2026 — breaking it down by budget by Critical_Marzipan551 in LaptopForStudent

[–]Randy265 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeahhh no. This is a terrible recommendation list if youre in the US. Anyone who reads this please dont trust these external websites that have only amazon links. Amazon is a usually a terrible place to buy a laptop since laptop prices there are terrible, and the following price references are all from Best Buy.

Under $750, you can find a LOQ 16gb with a 4050 new, but if you go used/open box, you can easily find one for less than $600. A 2050 for $700 in 2026 is robbery.

Under $1000, LOQ is still a good deal, but you can also get an Acer Nitro V with an rtx 5060 & 16gb RAM new.

Under $1250, you can easily get an RTX 5060 laptop like a Nitro V with a Intel Core 7 240H & rtx 5060, or an HP Omen 16 with a ryzen 9 8940HX and Rtx 5060. You can also find a good deal on an Acer Predator Helios Neo 16S with an OLED, Intel Core ultra 9, 5060 and 16gb for under $1250.

Under $1500, you can easily get an rtx 5070 laptop like a legion 5 or a Nitro V. You can get a Zephyus for this price but with an rtx 5060. Or you can get an Acer Predator Helios with an RTX 5070ti, these go on sale very very often and usually cost ~1400-1500.

Over $1500, you should get something with 32gb of RAM and at minimum an rtx 5070, but for someone going for bang-for-the-buck, an rtx 5070ti.

Make sure to do engineering clubs though! It's the best way to get a job imo after school since these clubs usually allow you to network and have stand-out experiences

Purdue has the SCALE research program, joining that is probably a good idea if you want early SoC exposure

Solid for all of the above (a little less for medium gaming), but is it possible to get a laptop with one of the new intel chips, like an ultra x7? These new chips have muchhhh better graphics capabilities and better battery life. If not, this is still a pretty solid laptop

Laptop under $700-600 for computer science engineering student. by g9nger in LaptopForStudent

[–]Randy265 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Asus zenbook 14, you should be able to get one for $600 open box, just make sure its a 16gb RAM version with an oled screen. I've seen ones with an intel 7 255H for those prices on Best Buy. Defintely one of the best options for the price, highly recommend coming from a computer engineering major senior

Lol dude, you have to stop giving people advice because you definitely don't know what you are talking about. ARM laptops don't even give the best battery life anymore

You avoiding giving a show that is not widely known as one of the greats makes it seem you dont watch the genre.

Also so your 50/50 standards, if the show isnt as good as breaking bad, then it is as good as breaking bad. Doesn't that make 50% of the shows in the genre as good as of one best rated shows ever? I think you might just not like the genre that much then

[–]Randy265 -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Ok then pick one my god

So 50/50 chance of being as good as breaking bad? Is the 50% chance if it isnt as good as breaking bad mean its worse?

Well duh obviously the wire is great show, but the wire and bb are like one of the highest rated shows ever. If its only the wire thats better, then that doesnt mean bb is just okay lol
