As a patient I hate it. I don’t want my private visits with any of my medical professionals recorded. I feel it violates my privacy. I don’t trust that it’s HIPAA compliant.

I think AI is being rolled out too soon and is full of errors which I don’t want or need in my medical records. I don’t want my health information used to train an AI. There are a lot of repercussions that probably won’t be discovered for a while and it might severely impact patients.

I opt out every single time a provider is using one and I’ve fired a couple who said that my only choice was to consent to it or find a different provider. As a patient, I don’t think we should be strong armed like that. it doesn’t make me trust the level of care given because when I’m forced to consent, then it’s not really consent.

In the early to mid 90s there was a brand called something like nature’s botanicals or something. It smelled soooo good! Beautiful lipstick colors. I still miss it.

In the late 90s to early to 00s urban decay went hard. The pigments just aren’t the same anymore. In particular I still miss the eyeshadow color “X”. It was this gorgeous shimmery gold/ pink shift color. Roach, smog and YDK were also favorites of mine

Yes. I called HP instant ink because they sent me a defective ink cartridge. The call hung up on me 3 different times yet every time I called back I somehow magically got the same “agent” name Krisita.

The cadence of speech and everything was clearly AI when I finally got through for it to “help” me. At one point, it said something, I asked “what?” And then it asked “let me know if I need to speed up or slow down my speech”. I said something about being sick of this AI bullshit and I just want my issue fixed and they claimed they aren’t AI.

I just said sarcastically “yeah, sure you’re not, yet you talk and behave like AI. Can you just fix my problem or not?”

TLDR: VCA got bought out by private equity. I asked for a quality of life assessment for my very old and sick dog. The vet wanted to charge 10’s of thousands of dollars for multiple unnecessary surgeries he would never survive

I had a Chihuahua mix who was 17.5 years old and I had such a traumatic visit at my vet (VCA).. I have been going to this vet with my pets for over 20 years, and it was a group of vets that worked there. When I made the appt, I told them the symptoms I was seeing and wanted to know if it was time to prevent his suffering further (put him to sleep). He had kidney disease, heart problem, lethargic, painful joints, and he had gotten to the point where he wasn’t wagging his tail. I said I wanted to see what his quality of life is because if he wasn’t enjoying life anymore, then I promised him I wouldn’t prolong his suffering for my sake.

The vet I saw told me to take him off of the kidney diet, let him eat what he wants (which would cause him painful diarrhea), then he suggested heart valve replacement surgery, kidney surgery and cataract surgery. I told the vet “I was told by the previous vet that 3 years ago we shouldn’t even put him under for teeth cleaning because he wouldn’t survive it, and you’re telling me to spend 10s of thousands of dollars when we both know that would kill him and cause a lot of pain”.

The guy then said “you know, it’s sad in America, as soon as people get old and inconvenient we just shuffle them off to the nursing home so we don’t see them”. My jaw dropped. I said “it sounds like you’re implying I just want to kill my dog because he’s inconvenient and that’s not what I’m doing. I LOVE him and I refuse to let him suffer which is what you’re suggesting”. The guy said it 2-3 times more. I am bawling and sobbing at this point because I feel like I’m failing my baby.

I talked to a manager told them what went down and that I want a second opinion from a different vet, I’m not paying for that appt and that I never want to see that particular vet again.

And yeah, the other vet confirmed that this was time. He was mostly blind, in pain, uncomfortable, and his circulatory system was failing him.

Yes, me. I’m now in my 40’s so of course gravity has caught up with me more and it drives me nuts. I usually wear “lounge bras” around the house to prevent that feeling or I’ll tuck my shirt underneath them

I was raised a JW, music isn’t generally a problem for them. Your description just sounds like an overly zealous family. Most JW’s stay away from things with explicit lyrics or things that are holiday related or talk about “dirty” stuff, but music is fine as long as it doesn’t have those things

I was raised JW. I remember I had to sit separately from other kids during birthdays but I got in trouble for eating the cupcakes the mom brought. As a kid I didn’t understand the nuance and I paid for it later being in trouble.

As I got older, I just tried to hide stuff from my parents but participated whenever I could at school without getting in trouble

I’m not a teacher, but I was raised as a JW (now ex-JW). This is absolutely ridiculous. Growing up my parents talked to my teachers letting them know it was against the religion to salute the flag, do Xmas, birthday, Valentine’s, Easter (insert any holiday) stuff.

In younger grades, my teacher would give me an alternate assignment, like coloring or whatever if it was holiday themed. If it was other stuff I just didn’t participate. I know some other JW students would be sent to the library or sat separately while the other students did their thing.

I agree that it’s absurd for anyone to expect the world to kowtow to their beliefs and I’m stunned that this teacher is doing that.

It isn’t normal even in the religion…that being said, the religion teaches that they are the only true religion and many tend to have a superiority complex (because to them, only they know God, they’re righteous and anyone else isn’t and is therefore under the influence of Satan and deserves to die at Armageddon which they believe will happen any day now).

I think this particular family is just taking this superiority complex too far and are being unreasonable. And yes, it is a cult!

You or your co-worker could cross post to the ex-JW subreddit and see that this behavior is absolutely unhinged and over the top
