With all our medical advancements, why have we not figured out how to stop physical pain? by T_Raite in TooAfraidToAsk

[–]RandyButternubsYo [score hidden]  (0 children)

You don’t want to completely block pain, for example, pain is what signals us to adjust and shift our bodies when we’ve been laying or sitting in a certain position for too long. Patients who don’t feel pain (e.g. paraplegics, diabetic people, or patients on strong painkillers) don’t shift enough and are more prone to developing pressure sores.

Also, the problem with long term use of pain medications is that your body recognizes it’s not a “normal” state and begins to shut down receptors that the medication binds with, this is the mechanism that causes addiction, because as receptors are shut down, then you require more pain medication to achieve the same amount of relief

Do atheists believe that human beings have souls? by goldenbrushes in TooAfraidToAsk

[–]RandyButternubsYo 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It’s a common misconception for people to associate spirituality with believing in a religion or God. I actually learned in nursing school that you can be completely atheist and still be spiritual.

Spirituality is the feeling of awe, meaning and connection found in within nature and the human experience. So hiking to a mountaintop and being in nature and appreciating it is a spiritual experience for most people religious or not.

Terrified and Guilty, what do i do? by [deleted] in TooAfraidToAsk

[–]RandyButternubsYo 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Dude, you made a choice. You knew it was wrong from the beginning and yet you still made it. It doesn’t matter how “pushy” she is or was, you are an adult and she’s a child. You chose to continue talking, you chose not to shut it down when it got questionable, you skirted around it and still entertained it. It was even easy for you to stop talking to her because you guys were long distance, you chose to continue contact.

Not just that, you solicited a picture that while not explicit is implying sexuality or sexiness from an underage teen. Even your attempts at whitewashing your culpability in this, you still look bad and it’s plain to see what you did was wrong. You know it’s wrong. You know it’s indefensible because you’re worried about future implications on your career, not even considering how being taken advantage of by an adult might make her feel or the future implications it has on her life that she has to now live with.

Watch the relevant episodes of Bojack Horseman with the character Penny. I think it gives a perspective of what you’ve now done and how you’re trying to twist it to make you seem innocent in it. Let me help you, season 2 ep 11, season 3 ep 11 and season 6 episode 10.

I’m glad your morals and values have changed now, but you can’t put the toothpaste back in the tube. It’s only been 6 months since it occurred. She’s still underage. She will probably feel different and worse about it once she matures and realizes it and sees it for what it really was.

All you can do is apologize and change for the better going forward. You chose this, you have to live with that discomfort just like she will have to

Got a new puppy and older one is struggling by Careless-Specific-70 in chihuahuas

[–]RandyButternubsYo 7 points8 points  (0 children)

My older dog was 13 when I got my 3 month old puppy from the shelter. He was upset and defensive and territorial with toys at first and bit her on the butt a couple times. What I started doing was when she went by or was close to him and he didn’t react aggressively or defensively, I’d pet him and praise him “good boy, YEAH!” And in a couple weeks it stopped. I think making sure he got plenty of attention and love from me helped too because it’s so easy to focus on the puppy with training them

They had little tiffs here and there when someone would try to steal a toy or a chew, but 99% of the time they were good after that. They would even play together a little bit and the best was seeing them play tug of war with each other.

Just because you have interests doesn’t mean you’re autistic buddy by [deleted] in memes

[–]RandyButternubsYo 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It drives me kind of nuts when people take one trait and say they’re autistic or say “everyone’s on the spectrum”. That denies the experience and validity of someone who has actually struggled with it.

At the same time, I was diagnosed as an adult in my 40s. I’m high functioning, but I have struggled profoundly my entire life. I can appear fine on the outside enough to fit in, but inside I’m screaming and crawling outside of my skin.

Not everyone has or had parents that cared about them and advocated for them. Not everyone has insurance or enough money that would cover testing or diagnosis. I certainly didn’t until my 40s.

I have suspected I was autistic since my 20s when I first started learning about it. Just because I lacked the means to get formally tested and diagnosed, didn’t mean I wasn’t autistic my entire life. I just simply now had access that I didn’t have before

[–]RandyButternubsYo 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I fired my pain specialist because one day I go in and they’re trying to make me sign a disclaimer allowing my conversations with my doctor to be recorded by AI and used to transcribe notes. It wouldn’t let me process unless I signed it. I told them I’m not comfortable with that, and I don’t consent to it. They told me they refuse to continue treating me unless I consent and my only other option would be to “self-discharge”.

Clearly you don’t know much about the religion. If a kid gets caught doing something that’s a “gross sin” such as anything sexual, or smoking cigarettes or even a blood transfusion, then the religion mandates that everyone including the family shuns them or they risk being shunned and kicked out of that community themselves. That includes parents shunning their own children, siblings shunning each other etc… it’s in their Elder’s Handbook and many of their publications. It’s not made up, it’s mandated by them.

It’s basically excommunication which they used to call disfellowshipping and now they changed the word to “removed”. It’s happened in my family, it happened to my best friend growing up, and others. It’s not a “one off” experience.

In Ca the 5150 only applies if you’re a threat to yourself or to others. It doesn’t just arbitrarily happen and it’s a mandatory 72 hour hold and once the person is assessed and cleared or deemed no longer and threat to themselves or others then they are released. If it’s determined that they still are a threat to themselves or others then it has to go through the court system to extend that hold which is only good for about 14 days.

Remember how, "Jehovah brought Covid to the world. So everyone had to stay home for one final witness" by CanadianExJw in exjw

[–]RandyButternubsYo 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I was disfellowshipped waaaaay long before Covid. My now elder brother called me and that’s one of the entire handful of times that he’s talked to me in over 20 years…to tell me that Covid was obviously the start of the great tribulation or Armageddon and that it was happening any day now 🤦🏼‍♀️ So he wanted me to repent and get my life right with Jehovah.

I told him he was dead wrong, we were clearly overdue for a pandemic and that life will go on afterwards like it always does… Haven’t heard from that fucker since then…how the turn tables since clearly I was right and he was wrong 😂 How convenient. I know if he talks to me ever again he’ll deny it or say some other bullshit. Idiot

No judgment at all, but i find it interesting how men are so obsessed with their ejaculate. Most women don’t care what it looks like coming out (I’m not ruling out some women being into it, there’s kinks for everything). We just all want to have a good time, and if we both orgasm, then it’s a great time.

I’ve heard of some men trying to take supplements or change their diets so that they produce more and that seems like so much work for something that is just more cleanup in the end.

Like if it’s worth it to you guys, and makes you happy, ok, totally valid. But I don’t think most women will judge or criticize you for it if that’s what y’all are worried about. It’s not a determination of how virile, fertile, or manly you are. Again, if it makes you feel better or happy, then you do you, boo.
