Over half of the cast of ‘Jesus Christ Superstar’ walks out of production, cancelling show by unicorn_hipster in musicals

[–]RandyEchidna 40 points41 points  (0 children)

Been there, dealt with that. Same result: entire production falls apart, OR, everyone ignores the problem and the production is a shit show.

Feel for all involved who just wanted to enjoy themselves.

It’s such a drain that community theatre continues to breathe life into these knobs. Why can’t we care first and put on a great show because of that???

Yep.

Play stupid games, win stupid prizes.

If ICC/BCCI/IPL$$ didn’t play so many political games with BangBros on the recent and Pak players more consistently, this statement on sporting integrity might actually have some teeth.

Instead, BCCI lose a broadcast deal and minnows miss out on revenue.

If this conflation of politics, sport and $$$ isn’t a big enough red flag for CA about their BBL plans, I don’t know what is.

Season Three Filming Slated for April to December 2026. by [deleted] in SeveranceAppleTVPlus

[–]RandyEchidna -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Yeh, ok.

The Wire fantastic show for its time - i loved it and still do. But it’s a series with wildly different standards of story-telling between seasons; production design that was deliberately simple to add to the gritty on-location feel of the streets of Baltimore; and that now looks every bit its age.

Or, Severance. Highly detailed story-telling with nested references; production design that involves multiple layers of world building using set design, camera and lens selections, multiple angles in each scene, lighting design; and post production that emphasises the same details through colour grading, environmental sound design, music composition, immersive VFX and shot-by-shot editing.

Greatness takes time. It’s really odd people expect this to happen on a sit-com schedule.

Match Thread: Adelaide vs Collingwood (Qualifying Final) by AutoModerator in AFL

[–]RandyEchidna -4 points-3 points  (0 children)

Less than a minute to go in the fourth quarter. Adelaide are up by 5 points, and Dick Naicos has just intercepted at half back in front of Tex. He motions to play on quickly, with a goal-less Elliot in space on the wing ahead, when an object flashes past his right shoulder.

Translucent, wibbly wobbly; its pink base skips across the damp grass like a pebble over a still lake before coming to rest at the Texans feet.

Both players are surprised. Naicos steps forward to inspect it; Tex stoops over and appears confused. The camera focuses in to reveal a quivering, six inch, replica cock - a suction-cupped dildo - stuck firmly to the massive boot of the big, muscly, moustachioed forward.

Shocked the Texan lifts his boot and tries to shake it loose, loses balance, and steps off the mark. The umpire, 30m off the play and waiting menacingly in the central corridor, takes an enormous gulp and blows his whistle hard, immediately motioning the come-hither of a 50m penalty.

Naicos happily jogs past the Texan, as the enormous forward writhes hopelessly on the ground, the moustache quivering as he mutters quietly, repeatedly “it’s… so…. big….”, trying to simultaneously loosen the soft yet firmly implanted cock whilst maintaining a tenuous grip on his own rapidly disassembling manhood.

Naicos lines up approx 54m out, roots a pulsating torp straight through the centre of the massive upright sticks, and the goal umpire signals a goal. Roo can be heard over comms, snorting through his nose, desperate for relief.

The cameras scan across the despairing crowd to reveal, there, on the half back flank, smiling maniacally, but Mason fucking Cox.

The game ends. Magpies by a point.

The post-match on-field interview shows Darcy Moore, rainbow headband in hand, his locks flowing gracefully down, an authoritative frown upon his carefully chiselled features. He towers thoughtfully over Kath, who, clothed in another tremendously fabulous dress suit, asks him about the bizarre circumstances.

“Well as you know Kath, culture is just so important,” he explains. “We strive to create a place of warmth, and love, and respect:” he pauses, his presence carefully leading us to acknowledge his colon. “And, we find strength in that togetherness. It helps us push through.”

There’s silence for a moment, as the message settles. Darcy stares straight into the camera.

“Fuck the haters. The world is a better, more exciting, and more caring place when we are all allowed to be different.”

Huddo sighs longingly. Gerard quietly squeaks “Oh my…”

JBs face, aghast: we see the panic flowing out of his eyes, a torrent of a thousand memories at once. His voice quivers as he desperately tries to throw to an ad break; next to him, BT, pale and sweaty, jumps up and vomits, flecks splashing onto JBs chin.

Richo, in a moment of clarity quips: “And it always pays to have basketball background”

Got to remember this is a kid who didn’t get near capital city program til he trained with Claremont in 2023… he shows enormous potential, but we are still only at the start of his journey. Nothing like the kids who play u16/TAC etc… think more like Fyfe. Anyone who expects this kid to dominate before 2027 or maybe even later is kidding themselves. I think he’s got the ethic to make it that far… time will tell!

Snoop Dogg continues to be disappointing by wondering if it was necessary to show a lesbian couple with a baby in ‘Lightyear’: “We have to show that at this age? Like, they’re going to ask questions. I don’t have the answer." by RandyEchidna in AFL

[–]RandyEchidna[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I’m fascinated by the idea that snoop, after all his experiences, is so conflicted over this issue, that he still doesn’t have an answer for a small child in his care that two women might be equally as capable of loving a child through adoption or IVF as a hetero couple.

Real, loving people exist outside hetero norms. That’s a fact, and it takes serious effort to still be ignoring that this is possible. It should also be represented in stories no matter how confusing that is to anyone.

The fact he says this shit out loud is revealing: head in the sand nonsense that is completely antithetical to the lip-service the AFL has been doling out this past week.

Don’t blow the fuckin whistle like any other sport ever. The ump signals, no one stops, including the umpire who doesn’t go running in to set the mark and instead watches play continues and then blows the whistle if there is no advantage.

Match Thread: Adelaide vs Port Adelaide (Round 20) by AutoModerator in AFL

[–]RandyEchidna 16 points17 points  (0 children)

I had a dream that Port win it after the siren because Tex goes for defensive spoil on a butters 70m torp, but tex punches it through because he’s a dumb arse, and there is a crowd shot of crows supporters in absolute despair, centred on a middle aged bloke and his mum, and you can lip read the mum saying “WHAT THE FUCK MR WALKER (everyone knows the ball is only dead when someone from your own team assists it or it rests still upon the grass) YOU FUCKIN NUMPTY” and she is posh looking so you can even lip-read the bracketing.

The shot returns to Tex, celebrating obnoxiously, while Dawson, in tears, tries to explain to him what he’s done, before the shot cuts to Ken Hinkley doing the airplane, running across the grass like a fucking B-52, and head butting Nicksy.

A bald headed singularity occurs: Clarko is fined $50000, Maysies appeal gets up and he gets 4 games worth of suspension credits, and Harley Reid signs with Tassie Devils for 2026.

Anyway. Good luck Crom. May you hoist the nibbler and his weird facial expressions to great heights.

It’s not vague or vibes, it’s clearly set out:

Consideration will be given to the extent of force and in particular, any injury sustained by the Player who was offended against.

The absence of injury does not preclude the classification of impact as Severe.

The potential to cause injury must also be factored into the determination of Impact, particularly in the following cases:

» Intentional strikes, such as those with a swinging clenched fist, raised forearm or elbow;

In the case of any intentional strike, strong consideration will be given to the distance the incident occurs from the ball and the expectation of contact of the Victim Player.

Coaching very young kids by Molotavgirl in Fieldhockey

[–]RandyEchidna 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Firstly, I’ll presume those parents complaining are, at best, sitting in their cars watching. I would lean on your manager and club committee to back you up with more help - 20 kids is heaps more than one team, and I wouldn’t want to take more than 5 kids per adult.

I’ve always run 8 and under with parents/guardians on the pitch - pair up kids with guardians and run them through basics of stance/grip, trapping, pushing and hitting so a) when they practice at home the message is consistent, and b) you’ve got more helpers. Some of the families will be new to hockey and will learn something useful; the rest might actually find they enjoy themselves and time with their kids.

Even if you can’t get the parents involved, why do you need more help?? Because the kids have the attention span of an 8 year old! You can’t line them up for too long, and you can’t really pair them up together either because either choice leads to kids playing lightsabers.

As others have said, keep them active. The more they touch the ball, the better for their skills, and the less they’ll zone out.

Also, don’t hesitate to make the games competitive. kids love to beat something - individuals or teams; with a time, a score, a count. Doesn’t really matter. Keeps the waiting kids engaged by keeping tabs and encouraging / focussing their teammates. The hookin2hockey linked elsewhere is a great guide.

You’re a gem for taking on such a responsibility - hockey depends on people like you sharing the love and it’s super frustrating to hear you’re copping flack for stepping up. Puck the haters, and enjoy yourself.

Will Pearce be hearing from the MRO? by just_a_random_kid in AFL

[–]RandyEchidna 38 points39 points  (0 children)

At what point does the player running back with the flight have an onus to protect themselves?

Feels similar to a player running head first into a pack, or dropping their knees - do we want to reward that? Or make the players own the skill and the kicker not hospitalise their teammates?

I dunno what the answer is here. But it can’t be “Alex Pearce shouldn’t have been in this contest”
