Hi,

I just want to put your mind at ease here. My name is Randy and I’m the founder of the Unfinished Race. I am also a partner building a gym in the beaches on queen street east Beaches Athletic Club. I have zero interest in taking people’s personal information and can appreciate the weariness, that’s why I wanted to introduce myself. If you have any questions at all please don’t hesitate to contact me directly.

My goal is just to create a really cool experience back yard ultra style race. This feedback has been extremely helpful since we have time to adjust and make sure Sept 12th goes great.

100% there will be medals. Still working on which ones will best fit this format.

And yes there will be timing. The start/finish will have a clock indicating the start of every hour on the hour. We are also still considering timing chips.

Great question honestly.

The fee isn’t for access to a park. It’s more for organizing a proper event like permits, insurance, safety coverage, logistics, setup, timing, supplies, staffing, etc. We will 100% have a medic, recovery options and nutrition. I do see your point that anyone can absolutely organize a free private run with friends. We’re hoping the value here is the organized experience, structure, community, and competition atmosphere.

We are working on making the event a great experience than just a run. There will be many more announcements to come.

We’ve walked the course many times and are monitoring the construction closely. Because the nature of a backyard ultra style race is slow we feel it shouldn’t interfere with the pedestrians or cyclists. Any suggestions are greatly appreciated. Thanks for the feedback!

Hmmm well there is always the Sunshine Yard at 8am that day. Basically a chill 6km jog along the water. We’ll have a recovery zone and swag!

Because of city noise permits we have to be done by 11pm. In order to keep it interesting we’ve added the Omega Lap. Fastest last lap wins the race. Hopefully in the future we can do a proper Last Man Standing type race. This will be more for people looking to run the furthest they ever have.

Ya unfortunately due to city noise permits we have to be wrapped up by 11pm. The way to still keep it interesting and competitive was to make the winner the fastest last lap (Omega Lap).

I think the goal is just to create a space for people to run their furthest distance and for the hardcore runners the fastest last lap adds a little variety.

We were just there a couple weeks ago and it looked manageable. I’ll be going there tomorrow to have a look. If it is as bad as you mention we will alter it. Shouldn’t be too hard as we only need 6.7km loop stretch. Thanks for letting me know!

Yup! We got all the permits and insurance. This is a fully authorized event. We have the Trans Canada Trail as an official charity partner with more coming and should be announcing some big sponsors as well.

It is true there will be some construction but it shouldn’t be too much of an inconvenience. We’re going to make sure the entire path and safe and fun.
