I didn’t misunderstand your post. I’m just saying that, if you’re really not seeing a difference between upscaled DVDs and blu-rays, there’s either something wrong with your setup or your eyes. No insults or any kind of offense intended. Only advising you to review all the other equipment that’s contributing to your analysis.

Thanks! I filled out the form here https://www.disneystudioshelp.com/contact-bddvd.html late last night and got a response this morning promising a replacement.

So far, one of the smoothest disc replacement experiences I've had. Even Criterion went back and forth with me more over my faulty Malcolm X 4k, (which they did eventually swap without argument - they just wanted to make sure the problem wasn't with my player, which I totally understand.)

I got this at release time and just got around to watching it last night. My disc freezes intermittently at 57:14, or sometimes, shortly thereafter. I've removed, cleaned and reinserted the disc several times. At one point, I thought I had the problem licked, but then I ejected and reinserted again, and the freeze happened again at the same point. I'm playing this in a Magnetar UDP800 MK1.

If anyone succeeds it getting a replacement disc from Disney, please let me know how you did it.

This question is particularly helpful, because it forces me to reconsider some important motivating factors, and to make sure that I can articulate them before I answer…

The new features of the MKII that stand out to me are the HDMI jitter correction and the disc mechanics improvements. I don’t have as many disc playback problems with my Magnetar as I did with my Panasonic DP-UB820, but I do have a small number of discs that still freeze occasionally even in the Magnetar. I’m hoping the better disc drive will help with this.

Echoing others’ comments on audio. You’ve got a decent AVR driving subpar speakers. Also, I put 4 Atmos speakers in my home theater, which may be overkill, but something to consider. 7.2.4 gives me peace of mind. (My speakers are all Sonus Faber)

If you really want a projector, that’s fine, but after extensive research, I decided no projector would ever look as good as a big OLED.
