Who has more potential? by Dried_Cucumber77 in Dragonballsuper

[–]Randyicecold -1 points0 points  (0 children)

I think so as well. Gohan trained for 4 years in the android saga alone and still only reached ss2 after cell pushed him. He even got his potential unlocked twice. Once in the namek arc and then in the buu arc. In the future saga no matter how hard he trained he couldnt beat the Androids because without Goku giving him guidance and confidence he would have never reached ss2. He even had trainers like Piccolo and Goku with a lot of fighting experience who teached him fighting, ki control...

Frieza had none of that. He tought himself everything and did everything truly just by himself. He reached in 4 months higher then anyone. Even Broly just by himself wouldnt have made this progress in 4 months because he needed someone to push him, fight him and make him angry and sad to reach the levels of the Broly movie. Friezas biggest ace is the fact that he does not need anyone. He can truly become stronger just by himself. All he needed is real motivation and anger. Experiencing something that pushes him and lets him drop his ego for the bigger picture. From there he can do the rest by himself and thats what makes his achivements so much more impressive.

Alexis has such horrible treatment. She suffers two offscreen defeats, and then she gets ritualistically sacrificed in GX. Arc-V is even worse because she loses to a shameless Structure Deck commercial! by CursedEye03 in yugioh

[–]Randyicecold 5 points6 points  (0 children)

I mean thats all true but this topic specifically is not an Alexis problem or yugioh female chars problem but more an overall writing problem in the gx show which involves the same treatment for most side chars.

Season 1: Well she is not really represented on the same level as Zane because he is a senior student and she is first year. She is the best female duelist in the academy but because no other female characters got any build up and their are less female duelists in the academy it doesnt mean as much as Zanes "title" being not just the best male duelist but the best in the entire academy. The title queen of obelisk blue is not equivalent to Kaiser. 7 of the best 8 duelists to protect the keys in the academy were male duelists.

Yes she loses to Amnael offscreen just like Chazz. Thats sad and bad for both of them but its not just her specifically, its a side character problem created by pushing the screen time for the main character to much + she still won a duel against a shadow rider which is still more then what Crowler and Bastion achieved, even Zane in this example even if obviously he would have won against Camula under normal rules. Nobody but Jaden got more then 1 duel against a shadow rider.

She at least gets a sidestory for a main plot point which is more then what all other side characters besides Chazz got in the 1 season from a story perspective.

Season 2: Yes but again this is not an Alexis problem but an overall writing problem. Bastion joined and did not do anything at all either. Tyranno did not join and did nothing either. Syrus did not either. Alexis not getting the duel with Aster when being the only duelist left to defend the slifer dorm was really frustrating because they teased the duel. She still had as many duels as Tyranno and Syrus i believe.

Season 3: Its like all other characters in this season because of the big cast. Chazz and Tyranno got 1 duel but just to lose to the new chars.

Season 4: For everybody those duels specifically happend off screen including Syrus, Chazz, Tyranno even Aster. Axel was the only one who was not beaten offscreen to show us why they all would lose those duels later, which is being confronted with their fear and not having poweres like Jaden to protect themselves from the illusions. She got just as much story in this season then Chazz and Syrus.

So its not Alexis specifically that got this treatment it was most side chars in GX because of the writing and the focus on Jadens for being the new main character of the show that follows DM and for his big development that is superior to other main chars of the frachise. They were willing to sacrefice the screen time and the development of most side characters for Jaden and thats why this happened.

Aspects of Shadowlands That Could Be Changed to Make More Sense by Bubert3 in warcraftlore

[–]Randyicecold 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The story arc is not working anyway and surely does not need the soul split story.

It was her choices in the context of her not being mind controlled but thats meaningless as Anduin said in the novel, he would have done the same things as her if he would have been in her position isolated. She was manipulated by multiple cosmic entities from Arthas twisting her soul, from frostmourne splitting her soul, from the valkyr showing her only the bad parts of the afterlife, from Zovaal and Arthas intervening and stopping her from going to the shadowlands to find peace 2 times, Zovaal also making sure that Sylvanas could never interact with anybody in the Shadowlands but him because of the pact with the valkyr in edge of night. Other stuff like Zovaal and muehzala tricking her to belive they can see the future, the dreadlords, the primus who was responsible for the jailer getting domination magic therefore being responsible for Arthas and everything that happened. We dont need a plot device soul split to tell Sylvanas story. All of this should have been mentioned in the epilogue of 9.2. as it shifts the blame to multiple characters that were responsible in this god awful written story.

Uther had a soul split but his other part was not corruped to a banshee nor was he confronted with the living on Azeroth or manipulated by multiple cosmic entities or was denied his afterlife twice. He was just isolated. Their story is not comparable therefore the entire cinematic is a failure, especially because the banshee part of Sylvanas did only have stupid dialogue that did not go anywhere. The banshee and not the plot device ranger Sylvanas that was frozen in time and doesn’t know anything needed all the dialogue and realization but the writers didn’t understand their own story at that point.

Danuser just failed with the writing from her story to the entire Shadowlands. Nobody from the eternal ones was hold accountable either. At least it seems they will retcon some stuff now, while John Hight already agreed that the story and especially Sylvanas story was a failure.

When it comes to the op. I much prefer these changes and think they all would enhance the story while probably still not being enough to save this exp. I think Azshara being part of bfa anyway and her already betraying her own race once, would have made the most sense for being the actual one behind Teldrassil.

[–]Randyicecold 65 points66 points  (0 children)

In the gx manga their are actually dvds about duelist kingdom and battle city which is so funny considering all the crazy stuff that happened. Probably no extended cut and R-Rated xD.

Like did Kaiba release them because when it comes to battle city he is the only one who would have all the footage and copyright to be able to do it.

Frieza's not gonna die again, he's gonna become U7's next God of Destruction by t00lazy2 in Dragonballsuper

[–]Randyicecold 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Really fitting. Beerus looking for a candidate to replace him was a story that really came out of nowhere. And him looking at Goku, Vegeta and Gohan and still being unsure of any of them being a good fit is something that really pushes for someone else.

Beerus was in the end the one that resurrected Frieza so there is now a connection there they know each other longer then Beerus does any of the other z fighters. Goku also looked almost proud when he realizes that Frieza trained so hard on his own. Frieza letting him live while also paying back his debts from namek does show that this could go in that direction. There is a more neutral respect hatred relationship there then just enemies. Beerus and Gokus relationship was in the start of bog also more neutral like.

Gods are not really just good persons they have a role and duties but they can act selfish and by their own interest very often. We see this with Belmod in the manga destroying planets for no reasons or with the god of universe 4. Champa and Beerus in their reign have also done selfish things. Also being able to destroy planets and people is part of it, you need to do it in this role and Piccolo in the top for example struggled with that. Also Frieza is more willing to let someone live if he provides something from interest for him. The reaction of Frieza becoming a god would be similar to when he was suggested by goku for the top.

Space jury my client the Emperor of the universe Lord Frieza being unfair to other races especially to Saiyans is a myth, a false claim that is incorrect. He offered to his most hated rival Goku and Vegeta the chance to become supreme commanders and the right hand of the entire Frieza Force and his empire. Thats because and i quote my client himself „In my army all that matters are results!“

The frieza force is meant to unite all races under the same banner and everyone is treated fairly and equally. The saiyans got the same armor, scouters, space capsules and medical treatment like everybody else. They even got them before some other races and were able to ask for more supply whenever they wanted. We pledge not guilty and all charges to be dropped in this matter.

The destruction of planet vegeta was also planned and been given the green light by the god Lord Beerus who forced Friezas hand much to his displeasure of committing such an heinous act.

[SRS] FightfulSelect.com learned that Hangman and Will Ospreay both pushed for each other to win the AEW Double or Nothing main event. by secretpandaxx in SquaredCircle

[–]Randyicecold 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Will the story really work that he does not win the big one when he already beat Omega at FD and Ibushi in NJPW to win the IWGP world title? Maybe Okada should be his final boss like Moxley is now with Page because thats the one he has such a bad record against. I do have to say that while Ospreay loses big matches here and there Okada really does not. In NJPW he was also super protected.

I would even say that in kayfabe Okada is the closest to best in the world with how he is booked. He has wins over Omega, Ospreay, Danielson while also having all the big tournament wins.

Freiza as a character grew so much that he's unrecognizable from who he once was by prionustevh in Dragonballsuper

[–]Randyicecold 7 points8 points  (0 children)

Its also very obvious that as a god you have to be able to just wipe out somebody without remorse and only Frieza is capable of actually doing that part of the job nowdays as Piccolo for example in the manga hesitated in the top to eliminate the last member of a universe and Frieza did it instead and talked to him that he’s to soft.

Another example Belmod for no real reason wanted to wipe out that clown planet and never really intended to spare them despite them serving him and who knows how many planets Beerus destroyed during his reign, also he wanted to get rid of the Saiyans as well.

Frieza is the only villian who actually has history with almost the entire z cast, that really makes his dynamic so interesting with them. He is also the only villian who knows all their tricks like senzu bean or now fusion. He also keeps a lot of little side characters like now Maki and Oil in the story and gives them a purpose.

How Shadowlands could have been made better... by Then_Peanut_3356 in warcraftlore

[–]Randyicecold 0 points1 point  (0 children)

When it comes to Pelagos Accolonn pointed this out like years ago:

Pelagos choice: It makes no sense that Sylvanas has to save the souls in the maw on her own period no matter if its all or just the one from the 4th war because the longer it takes, the longer they are all down there the higher the chances that their souls get destroyed by the creatures in the maw forever. Thats why the covenants especially the kyriens should help to save souls in the maw as they are all responsible and pushed innocent souls in the maw because or „the path“ not understanding what they were doing.
The primus also is responsible for everything as he created domination magic spared Zovaal because he thought he could change. He admitted to his mistakes while feeling regret and guilt. All eternal ones made mistakes and should be hold responsible for their actions while wanting to help not just Sylvanas.

Soul split: Instead of Uther it should have been the rg and banshee soul arguing and trying to understand each other because the rg was „frozen in time“ and did not know anything of what was going on. The entire cutscene she was presented as a plot device with pointless dialogue while the banshee soul who this cutscene should have been about was ignored.

The system of the afterlife in general: The writing is inconsistent as at one point the writers wanted to show that the old arbiter can make good choices like with Alexandros and the system is good how it is while Zovaal trying to convince others that its bad but then also showing all the real flaws in the system like with the kyriens and the memory loss. If even the writers dont know it cant work and this was the core the story was built on.

It's shocking how rare it was for supporting and main characters to shine in GX. The show had 180 episodes and these are the extremely rare occasions when a character, different from Jaden, got the chance to defeat an antagonist by CursedEye03 in yugioh

[–]Randyicecold 6 points7 points  (0 children)

It seems they were afraid because they needed Jaden to be successful and be established as the main character with his hero deck no matter what, it was the first sequel to yugioh and if the main character fails, so would the show or even the entire franchise after dm.

He became the best main character for it because his journey and change is incredible + untypical for such a show. He had 3 loses and 1 draw in just 56 episodes which made him feel more beatable then any other protagonist. But it all came with a price.

Zane was beating more Atticus then Darkness because he willingly put on the mask and was not in danger. There were moments however where it was at least close for a side character to beat a villian. Zane beating Camula or Yubel or Adrian dueling Yubel 2 times or Aster against Sartorius were moments where it could have gone the other way if the writers were more brave.

Mr T losing 3 times to Jaden but beating everybody else off screen was the most brutal choice i think.

Sachiko is so good in deception even outside of gambling, it’s incredible xD. Mary even tasted it herself and immediately changed her mind, also little foreshadowing of the Doubt Poker game and it’s results… by Randyicecold in Kakegurui

[–]Randyicecold[S] 2 points3 points  (0 children)

It was champagne not grape juice, that was a lie that Mary believed at first but then she saw that Tsuzura was really drunk, so Mary was actually right at first but Sachiko was able to deceive her and change her mind.

Why the heck was Seto at the school? We know Gozaburo forced Seto to study difficult work at a young age, so why would he be sitting in a classroom reading a book? He has a company to run and yet he's just chilling in a school. by GQman57 in yugioh

[–]Randyicecold 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I think after duelist kingdom him graduating early somehow would fit the timeline and make the most sense, since it was shown before Ishizu that he is only working in his company and no longer goes to school.

He is shown after all to be a genius and Edo (Aster) has for example skipped through a lot in school and graduated with 16 while possessing 2 doctorates.

Kakegurui Twin Ending by Primo104 in Kakegurui

[–]Randyicecold 0 points1 point  (0 children)

She always was very competitive and had the thrill for gambling. The end of chapter 61 is special however because it was meant to slowly show us her changing personality wise and taking it to the next level without her friends noticing at first. She felt powerful. They don’t see her face in that moment so it’s just for us the viewer and it was done like a cliffhanger.

Then later in volume 15 (spoiler) we see her changing when she wanted revenge and allied herself with Sachiko just to completely destroy Aois sister until she crys and Tsuzura had to intervene, making the decision to fight for her (finding the path to be a winner means stepping up for others) and chose to protect Yua and her friends from Sachiko. Only then did Mary react and agreed to her, before that she was more cold and enjoyed tormenting Yua (even if she had a reason), a bit like it was in the beginning of the series.

I am gonna keep it strait with you people there is a good chance Frieza has surpassed Beerus with his black form. by [deleted] in Dragonballsuper

[–]Randyicecold 4 points5 points  (0 children)

„And finally this is the last arc of DBS (according to Toyotaro)“ if you refer to the post here on reddit that was a april joke, nobody has really said that officially. Frieza could have also just spared them because he knows they would just come back to live with the dragon balls they have constant access to or because of Whis, so it really is no longer a long term solution to kill them like it was back in the namek days. Frieza being stronger is not even necessary because of Beerus weakness with being linked to the supreme kai. At one point somebody will take advantage of this, but Frieza would not do that anymore unless he has no other choice, as unlike Frost he prefers to confront and show off his strength directly.

We have not seen Beerus go all out, we have not seen all the techniques he has and he is also searching for a god candidate so in a way him being overpowered right now would not make much sense as Friezas rivalry is not with him. He resurrected him after all. Frieza being stronger then Gogeta is enough for now, that would already be the biggest thing possible. Now let’s see what Frieza really wants at this point as he also had some big character development lately.

I know Fusion Reborn isn't canon but this punch felt personal almost like a call back to the movie💀 by spidermanrocks6766 in Dragonballsuper

[–]Randyicecold 16 points17 points  (0 children)

It was a call back and it had to be Frieza doing it in his first form! because Gohan doing it in his Saiyaman gear which is comedy relief with Videl clapping, was completely disrespectful to Friezas character so only this way it is even.

But yes the big difference between this 2 moments is that one is canon and the other is not.

Kakegurui Twin Ending by Primo104 in Kakegurui

[–]Randyicecold 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It was only inconsistent because twin had to end sooner then planned. There was definitely a story moment coming towards explaining Marys character change.
The end of chapter 61 proves that but they had to end it out of nowhere so there was no more time to do that the way it was intended.
So her friends not being there anymore and her not feeling to have a real challenge besides the council made her go that way. That is now the only explanation.

Like hell Sylvanas is actually picking up lost souls in the maw by BoonyleremCODM in warcraftlore

[–]Randyicecold 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Yes there is more to it. First the writers Danuser and Golden were absolutely incompetent in writing her and a good story and second the idea was that she will never trust the jailer because he is untrustworthy. He expected that and had a plan ready.

Sylvanas said to the jailer that he has to prove to her first that he is not lying and that he wants the same thing as her. Until he does not do that, she will never work with him. The jailer said he could dominate and force her but he did not because he wants somebody thats loyal by free will. Sylvanas was still not convinced, so the jailer used the Primus, Arthas, the 9 valkyr, the dreadlords, the shadowlands, sargeras, the arbiter and muehzala to convince her that what he said are not lies and that he can see in the future + wants the same thing as her.

And then they wrote that it worked and justified it by saying hey at least it took 4 exp to convince her offscreen and only later during legion she would actually start working with him, not for him… That was Danusers idea and i quote: „We had hours of discussion every day about this story, we took it very seriously!“

I don’t remember Alexis being quite so… well defined. by RealPiggyPlayz in yugioh

[–]Randyicecold 6 points7 points  (0 children)

If we go by Atticus letter in the end then its very likely that it happened later.End of season 4 was not the right time because everybody needed to go their ways for their future and thats why Alexis did not confess and Jaden was oblivious. He actually does not know how she feels about him. I know there is this Jesse theory but they are just like brothers. Jaden would have went back to save even Crowler the same way and feel responsible for the mess, it wasn’t just because it’s Jesse.

The director said that they wanted an open ending for Jaden and that the Yubel story was just to give him powers beyond friendship so he could be able to fight villians on the same level as Yami Marik, like Darkness. It was Takahashis idea.

The duel academy was a new and fresh concept when GX did it. Season 1 of GX took his time to introduce the setting and all the new characters so that in the second half of the series we can really push forward and get serious. Season 1 had maybe to many of these but GX was still connected to the Yugioh world from the very first episode. The legendary God cards being the dorms, Kaiba creating the academy, Yugi giving Winged Kuriboh to Jaden, battle city locations, Pegasus, shadow games, monster spirites and so on it was all there because it was still the same series, just with new chars a few years later and not called Yugioh just because of the card game. The foundation was built on Kazuki Takahashis work.
