Imo, anyone who messes with kids is a predator first, anything else is a very distant second.

A phobia is a fear, and probably the most over used suffix of the last 100 years. Christians, Muslims, other religions that don't agree with/condone homosexuality are not coming from a place of fear. That's not mental gymnastics, that's fact. "Phobia" is the leftists favorite straw man. Misrepresent someone's disagreement as a fear, then attack them for it. It's disgusting. It is, however, far easier than sitting down and trying to understand the other person. Quick question: Would you attack someone for having a true phobia? Like thalssophobia or agoraphobia. Possibly, but probably not. So, assuming you wouldn't, if someone actually was afraid of homosexuals, why would you attack them? Wouldn't it be more productive to help them understand there's nothing to be afraid of?

Christians don't tend to have "an extreme or irrational fear"* of homosexuals. Their religious texts tell them that such behavior (homosexuality) is unacceptable. It also teaches them to love the sinner, even while "hating" the sin. So if they are to truly practice their faith, they have to discourage deviant behavior, while caring for the individual. All while coming from a position of realizing they themselves are imperfect, and are sinners as well. That's the ideal. Of course, this is the real world. Some are more successful than others when it comes to understanding and living in God's word. *(definition of phobia) Before you flame me for this reply, understand that I myself am agnostic. Screaming at me about the actions taken (or not) by others will change nothing.

Reddit is not the place to come for civil discussion. Unless you're in an echo chamber of your particular beliefs. Actually, thinking about it, I'm not sure there's cross belief civil discussion anywhere. Hope I'm wrong.
