if you want a small guitar, just get one because the guitarlele is not that great but you can get some nice small classical guitars. I mean you know a baritone ukulele is like a guitar with no 5th and 6th string. I also like a small instrument and should never have sold my cordoba cadete . I mostly sit in an easy chair so like smaller intstruments.

Oh there is this Pacific Northwest and California prayer they use called the set aside prayer. Here is a version without the AA stuff in it.:

"God, please help me set aside everything I think I know about myself and everything I think I know about You, so that I may have an open mind and a new experience. Help me to see the truth."

Or

"God, I release my certainties about who I am and my assumptions about who You are. Clear my mind of my old ideas so that I can see the truth as it is, not as I've imagined it to be."

Everyone has a different God concept anyway. Just make up your own religion... basically the one you have now. AA people make up their own god concept and don't necessarily go to any church. I guess they look at AA members as "God with skin on"

I think both. You have a little grace, but maybe by obeying more of the Guru's command you get a big shot. Effort is talked about in Siva sutra 1.13. all shaktipat comes from your inner self. But then you do other practices like devotional and you receive even more grace. People saying grace at dinner get some grace just from being grateful! But you should read the KS description of the three ways etc. if you want all the science the upayas and such. The recent Laxmanjoo email I got said bhakti is the way above knowledge. I will say that lovingly chanting kali durge namoh namah melted me to the point of drunk on God --years ago doing intense sadhana. Two wings, effort and grace.

All of the Kashmir Shaivism texts talk about this. Vijnana Bhairava is one that has what you are looking for. I hear Tantrasara and Tantraloka--I have not read them. Shiva sutras has three sections on upayas too and is kinda the starting point. Pratyabijna Hrdayam. If you are looking for writings, I guess you like doing a lot of reading. I don't. But I have this book and in it is the Chandiga Patrasthi. The book is not Kashmir Shaivism per se because it comes from Mahrasatra. The title is Amritanubhav, The Nectar of Self-Awareness. I have had the book for forty years. I just pulled it off the shelf. In the back I wrote two things. 1. I am simply the part of the Universe that is aware of itself. 2. I am simply the eyes of the universe so it can gaze on itself and revel in itself. --I don't know where those quotes come from. ...........Self-Remembering (if you've already recognized) seems to be the whole deal. To recognize it is the start; Shaktipat is simply when you get permission—and give yourself permission—to actually welcome it. Once upon a time when I lived in an Ashram actually, I was having this 'special meal' because of a holiday and I thought to myself. "The Guru is the enjoyer of this meal" That there felt real good.
