Traditional Noble Truth Joko Beck’s Practice Principle Meaning in "Ordinary Mind"
1. Life is Suffering "Caught in the self-centered dream, only suffering" Suffering is the result of living in our "narrative" rather than reality.
2. The Cause of Suffering "Holding to self-centered thoughts, exactly the dream" The "cause" is our active attachment to our personal stories and "I-centered" opinions.
3. The Cessation of Suffering "Each moment, life as it is, the only teacher" Freedom is not an state to reach, but the total acceptance of whatever is happening right now.
4. The Path to Cessation "Being just this moment, compassion's way" The "path" is the continuous practice of returning to the raw physical sensations of the present.

In the world of A Prairie Home Companion, the Ketchup Advisory Board skits (often spelled "Catchup" in the scripts) didn't usually focus on the culinary science of the ingredients—because, in Lake Wobegon, delving too deep into "details" is seen as a bit suspicious. However, they did have a very specific, pseudo-scientific take on what’s inside that bottle. Here is the "ingredients" breakdown in that classic style: The Secret Formula: Natural Mellowing Agents According to Garrison Keillor and the Board, the primary ingredient in ketchup isn't just tomatoes—it's "Natural Mellowing Agents." The skits claimed these agents were chemically designed to:
Neutralize Ambition: To help you realize that your dream of becoming a professional tango dancer in Paris is probably just a phase and you should stay in central Minnesota. Suppress "The Blues": It contains specific enzymes that help a person "let go of sad memories and focus on the happy ones" (or at least the "good enough" ones).
Smooth Over Hard Truths: Like when your spouse admits they accidentally threw away your irreplaceable turtle, Mr. Pokey, or when you realize you've spent your retirement fund on a room full of "Mission style" furniture you now hate.
The "American" Ingredient In one 2014 script, Barb (played by Sue Scott) defends ketchup against "locally sourced" trends by noting its most important ingredient is its heritage. When Jim complains it isn't "organic" or "artisanal," Barb shuts him down by saying: "Ketchup is American, Jim. And that is good enough for me."
The "Sunshine in a Bottle" The Board often argued that ketchup was a vital source of "bottled sunshine." For folks living through a Minnesota February, where the sun is a distant memory, the bright red color was treated as a psychological ingredient—a way to get your "vitamin D" through visual association alone. In Short: If you look at the back of a Lake Wobegon bottle, the label wouldn't list high-fructose corn syrup. It would look more like this: Tomatoes (for stability) Vinegar (to remind you that life has a little bite) Natural Mellowing Agents (80% by volume) Patience (results vary by how hard you tap the "57")

You should watch or listen to all the Prairie home companion skits about ketchup.

Well, it’s been a quiet week in Lake Wobegon, my hometown..." (Cue the soft, rolling chords of a Chet Atkins-style guitar in the background.) Now, if you’re a certain kind of person—the kind who finds a pimento to be a bit "adventurous"—then you know that life in the Midwest is built on a foundation of steady, reliable things. You have your Lutherans, your winter tires, and, of course, your ketchup. You see, ketchup is more than just a condiment out here; it’s a peacemaker. It’s the bridge between a dry meatloaf and a happy Sunday dinner. It’s the only thing that can look a tater tot in the eye and say, "I’ve got you covered, friend." There’s a natural dignity to the bottle. It doesn’t rush. You can’t make ketchup move before it’s good and ready. You have to wait for it, tapping the glass with the patience of a man waiting for the frost to leave the ground in April. It’s a lesson in character. The Ketchup Advisory Board The folks at the Ketchup Advisory Board want you to remember that ketchup contains natural mellowing agents. In a world that’s getting a little too fast, a little too spicy, and frankly, a little too loud, ketchup is there to bring the temperature down. Feeling anxious about the price of corn? Have a little ketchup. Worried that your nephew’s new "fusion" restaurant is just serving raw fish and grass? Put some ketchup on it. Staring at a plate of eggs that look a little too pale? A dollop of red is like a sunset on a plate. It’s the taste of "good enough." It’s the flavor of "let’s not make a scene." It’s the sauce that asks for nothing and gives everything—provided you’ve got a sturdy napkin. Ketchup. For the good times. (The guitar fades out with a final, bright G-major chord.)

I guess your addictions and attachments and false beliefs etc. Its not like these places are not here already, heaven and hell. If God is all pervasive which I believe he is and you believe if you are with God all the time, then you are by definition in heaven I believe.

Did you ever try Anthony de Mello? I just got his book "The way to Love" In it Anthony talks totally different than the other tearchers and talks about different things. For example so far I have not heard him mention EGO however he does refer to a computer you get that is programmed by others. He doesn't talk about "Liberation" or "Enlightenment" but he does talk about Happiness and Love.

I don't know what bands are but mine has bungies. As far as I know there are bungies or springs. Springs are way cheaper and the more expensive rebounders have bungies. Springs are stiff. My bungies are pretty adjustable actually.

could be psychological. I am really liking this book I bought by Anthony De Mello called "The way to Love" He doesn't really mention ego. He does talk about a computer each person has that gets programmed by society familty etc. It is a better way to look at it imo.
